Why is it being written by this Little Miss Sunshine guy, I'm not saying it's a bad movie or anything, I actually want to see it, but why are no Pixar guys, like John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Brad Bird or Pete Docter, writing on it, or maybe is this guy just joining the team.

Well, I think that Mr. Lasseter is busy working on things for Disney, while Stanton, Bird, and Docter are all working on their own films for PIXAR. Stanton (Wall E), Bird (Ratatouille), and Docter is working on some other project that was mentioned in the "From Rags to Riches: The Making of
Cinderella" on the Cindy PE.

Well, TS3 won't be released until 2009. Ratatouille will be in a few months and Wall E next year. So I'm sure they (Bird and Stanton) can come late into the project as Joe Ranft was for Toy Story 2 (after finishing with A Bug's Life).
Who in their right mind wouldn't have them be on the TS3 crew?

Well, Joss Whedon did more work than anyone else did for the Toy Story script, but he's never come back to Pixar, not even for Toy Story 2. And Brad Bird's main reason for coming to Pixar was that he was having trouble finding a distributor after leaving "Warner Brothers" for their terrible job for promoting "The Iron Giant", it's not after "The Incredibles" that he sort of became an "official Pixar worker".
So, it's not like you have to be an official Pixar employee to work at Pixar.

How will they replace Slinky Dog IF a Toy Story 3 is made? Jim Varney passed away a few years ago. Maybe they'll have to have Slinky dog being in a yard sale or something.

I didn't know that!

And not to diminish the loss, but other sound-alike actors are often brought in for sequels or side projects involving the same characters years later, so I'm sure they'll find someone else. Of course, the original work by Varney and the vocal quality he brought to the character will forever hold as helping shaped who Slinky is, so he'll be remembered in that way. I doubt they'd write Slinky out *completely*.

voice actors can easily be replaced. not that Jim varney didn't do an excellent job, but they should be able to get an impersonator/sound alike. with the right casting, it should sound very authentic.
for example, I didn't see the whole movie, but when I saw clips of mulan 2, I thought the sound alike they chose for Eddie Murphy was surprisingly accurate. as long as they don't try to recast main characters like buzz, woody, or Jessie everything should be fine.
also keep in mind they'll have to recast weezie if they plan to bring him back as he died last year. (which I doubt they will need to anyway)

weezie isn't that important of a character, thay can just not have him talk and no one ( except for us ) noticing, slinkie could be a problem

this just in, Toy Story 3 is not planned for an 09 release, but is in fact slated for
2010!
source.
http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20012203,00.html
Contrary to initial reports, Toy Story 3's tentative target release date, always subject to change, is not 2009 but 2010. Unkrich knows that's a long wait, but hey, CG animation is time-intensive. Not that he hasn't contemplated cheating. ''If we could just convince Tom Hanks and Tim Allen to don costumes and shoot this in live action,'' he says, ''we could probably get it out a little earlier.''
other things worth noting from the article...
Pixar has not seen any of the Disney version of the film, they want to avoid being influenced so it can stay fresh.
the script is still being written.
they have not yet recorded any of the dialogue.
can you spill anything? ''I can say that among third installments, nobody wants another Bad News Bears Go To Japan.''

Are they still planning on Toy Story 3? How about a sequel to Monsters Inc?

Toy Story 3 is tentatively scheduled for a June 2010 release, and there's no word on a
Monsters, Inc. sequel.

im very excited about Toy Story 3....I do wish they would consider a Monsters Inc sequel. remember at the end when Mike puts the door back together for Sulley, and Sulley has the missing piece and goes into boos room and all you hear is Boo say Kitty! I would love to see some more lol I always loved the Boo character.

I also cannot wait for Toy Story 3. I doubt Monsters Inc will get a sequel as it ended nicely IMO.

I agree; the ending was so sweet to Monsters Inc, it would be a shame to spoil that. Plus, they couldnt have the original 'Boo' voice back, as she is a lot older now!
I hope Jesse and Barbie features in Toy Story 3, as they were great in 2 !

pfft, you can easily replace a voice actor that didnt talk much. I do aggree though that it doesnt need a sequel. not every cliff hanger ending needs to be spelled out.
as for barbies and jessie returning, Im sure jessie will. but the barbies didnt even make sense. why were they in andy's room at all? (you notice they mention the same thing in the commentary). andy does have a bo peep, and now jessie, but they need to limit the amount the girly toys in the room. its just going to cause us to ask questions. Im sure they'll use new toys that they havnt yet been able to get.
they werent allowed to use barbie in toy story one, even though they wanted to. but they were allowd in the second movie. Im thinking they'll find a way to use G. I joe. or something. a lego man would be a cool character too. they had legos in toy story 2, but no lego men.

i dont think it has to be a big sequel, perhaps a direct to video thing, but i think there are plenty of people who would be interested in some kind of part 2 for M. inc
I only thought about it after reading on another site that it was being done, or at least talked about, and then put on hold.
You could argue that other movies, Cinderella, Little Mermaid, Lion King, also didnt 'need' sequels but they did it anyways.

they are still going with Toy Story 3 but not with the defective Buzz story. the only ones i DON'T want a sequel to are Finding Nemo since there is nothing they can do except have him vanish for some unknown reason, and Cars since we know what happens thanks to the epilogue and the game.
the others could have a sequel like MI2 could have it where a business man comes through his son's closet one night and wants to turn Monstropilos into a tourest attration and the monsters try to stop him. The Incredibles could do anything since it is a superhero film. A Bug's Life 2 could feature another colony with a problem different from the original film's.
i'm not going to coment on Ratatouille until i see it to see if it has potential.

They could do something with Finding Nemo other than "making [Nemo] vanish for no good reason."

I think Marlin and Dory would make a cute couple.
Why
are there Barbies and a Bo-Peep in Andy's room? Bo was there before Molly, Andy's little sister. That doesn't make sense. All that being said, JESSIEEEEEEE. I love Jessie and would love to see more of her. Toy Story II > Original Toy Story.
