1930s- Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Well, I've not got much choice here, baby!

1940s- Pinocchio
I thought it sucked! (my nose suddenly begins to grow into a branch)

1950s- Alice in Wonderland
This used to be my favourite movie. Of course, opinions change over time, but it should be loved.

1960s- Mary Poppins
Well, I've found the fully animated ones of this decade to look a mite yucky and blotchy, but the animation here is lovely. It was either this or The Sword in the Stone.

1970s- Bedknobs and Broomsticks
Same rule for 1960s. Yet I did like Robin Hood and The Rescuers.

1980s- The Little Mermaid
Classic, period. I revisited this in the Summer and I fell in love with it all again. Don't like it? Be damned!

1990s- Aladdin
"10, 000 yeeeeeeeeeears can give you such a crick in the neck!"...Gotta love this movie.

2000s- Lilo and Stitch
After I first initially watched it, I felt it was a favourite. I haven't seen it since, but my hype has gone down a bit and I wouldn't place it in my top 10 Disney films, but I do like it.

1930s - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
(what else?)
1940s - Dumbo
(Only 40's film I like, Pinocchio isn't a favourite)
1950s - Sleeping Beauty
(Beautiful, the colours, balletic score, characters - all brilliant)
1960s - The Jungle Book
(This film is just so fun to watch)
1970s - Bedknobs and Broomsticks
(I really like this, the end battle and Naboombu, although the DVD annoys me)
1980s - The Little Mermaid
(Disney Masterpiece)
1990s - Beauty and the Beast
(Great film, beautifully drawn, wonderful songs I love the servant characters)
2000s - Emperor's New Groove
(A recent good one, good for a laugh)

1930s: Snow White
'The one that started it all' is the only one in the 30s.

1940s: Bambi
It's been seven years since I've seen this film, but I still love this film. And Pinocchio is overrated.
Runners up: Fantasia, Song of the South

1950s: Peter Pan
This film is one of those Disney movies that you used to watch all the time as a kid, and then watch it again at an older age, and it feels like your just a little kid again.
Runners up: Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella

1960s: Mary Poppins
Winner by default because of Julie Andrews' singing.
Runners up: The Sword in the Stone, 101 Dalmations

1970s: The Cat from Outer Space
I used to love this film as a young child, and now thanks to the catalogue titles, I've rediscovered it on DVD.
Runners up: Rescuers, Robin Hood

1980s: The Great Mouse Detective
Another film I gushed over as a child. I'm waiting for the special edition DVD that has yet to come along.
Runners up: The Little Mermaid, Watcher in the Woods

1990s: The Lion King
HAKUNA MATATA!! LONG LIVE THE KING!! Could it just be me, or was Disney's "Golden Age" in the 80s-90s? They made the fab four, joined forces with Pixar, had an amazing streak of Live Action films, and introduced us to the best of the fab four, which is up next to the word 1990s.
Runners up: Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast

2000s: Brother Bear
But wait, for the Golden Age goes on. After a long streak from June 24 1994 to December 15 2000, the Golden Age lives again as Emperer's New Groove makes its way to the silver screen. We are then followed by Atlantis, Lilo and Stitch, Treasure Planet, Finding Nemo(yes it's a Pixar film but I'm still counting it), Brother Bear (my personal favorite) and finally, the end of the Golden Age, Home on the Range, the final film in the Walt Disney Masterpeices.
Runners up:
Runners up: Treasure Planet, Home on the Range, Holes

Honorable mentions: Lady and the Tramp, The Jungle Book, The Aristocats, Something Wicked This Way Comes, TRON, Flight of the Navigator, The Rocketeer, The Mighty Ducks, Cool Runnings, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tarzan, Emperer's New Groove, Freaky Friday, Around the World in 80 Days.

I found this old thread and decided to give it a bump,

Mine are as follows (and are just based on the animated classics):

30's - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (obviously)
40's - Bambi
50's - Cinderella (thought it's a tough call)
60's - 101 Dalmatians
70's - Robin Hood
80's - The Little Mermaid
90's - The Lion King (despite other great films, TLK always reigns supreme for me! :))
00's - Lilo and Stitch (but I have a feeling at the end of this year I'll be changing that to "The Princess and the Frog")

Top 2, you say?

1940's: Easily Fantasia and Bambi, although Dumbo is mighty close behind. I've actually been post-poning rewatching Pinocchio until it's Platinum release this March, and I don't see the package films really taking away these choices.

1950's: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is my definite first, but ti's tough to come up with a second choice. I'll give Sleeping Beauty my vote today, but on another day, I could of seen Peter Pan take the other slot.

1960's: Mary Poppins and Pollyanna get my votes from this decade. I'd say this is around the time where the studio's live-action inputs became way more inventive than their animation department, although that's mainly due to the fact that there were only three(admittingly weaker) animated movies from the 60's, anyway. :P

1970's: Hard to say, but I'll have the Witch Mountains share one position, and I'll have Bedknobs and Broomsticks and Pete's Dragon kung-fu fight to the death for the other. Not so big on the DACs from the era.

1980's: The Great Mouse Detective for sure gets my first choice, and as for the other.... well, Flight of the Navigator was fun nonetheless. At least the Nostalgia Critic seems to agree with me on that account. Maybe that or The Black Cauldron will take my vote for my other choice.

1990's: The Lion King is my first choice, me probably the one person on this site who would consider it to be his favorite DAC, and I think my other choice goes to The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Come to me a couple of months ago, and this would of been Aladdin's position, and Beauty and the Beast improves after each reviewing, but Hunchback, despite it's inaccuarcies to the original book, gets credit for it's more mature Disney storytelling and for having possibiy the studio's most engaging villain besides Maleficent, Judge Claude Frollo.

2000's: Emperor's New Groove, for being the studio's funniest, and Prince Caspian for being their most captivating modern blockbuster. Still mad at Disney for dropping thr franchise.

1930 - Either "The Mad Doctor" or "The Old Mill", although its hard to argue against Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs or "The Brave Little Tailor" or "Lonesome Ghosts"-- so much great work in the 30's.

1940 - I think Bambi is the better movie, but Fantasia is my clear favorite, its my favorite movie period. Such brilliance, such ambition, such balls and fearless pride. I salute you, Walt.

1950 - 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Walt's 50's product was very strong, but this was his seminal achievement of the 50's. Giving nods to the True Life Adventures (yeah, yeah, I know Seal Island was 49, piss off), and those marvelous British films -- Treasure Island, The Story of Robin Hood and his Merrie Men, Kidnapped...and perhaps my favorite Live-Action Walt film, Third Man on the Mountain. Daby O'Gill is a stunner as well. And we cannot forget Old Yeller.

1960 - Three Lives of Thomasina. Absolutely brilliant film, and I'd add Those Calloways to the mix. Anytime you ever meet someone who thinks they know all there is to know about Walt, just give them these two films, and watch their eyes widen as they watch them. Having said that, the obvious choice here is Mary Poppins, and it is indeed Walt's masterpiece. I just think Thomasina and Those Calloways deserve more attention. Terrific, heartfelt films.

1970 - Hot Lead and Cold Feet is probably the most solid film from the studio in this decade. Of the few animated films, the nod would go to The Rescuers.

1980 - The Journey of Natty Gann is a stunner, too bad it hasn't been released in its original aspect ratio in over 20 years. Best film from this decade? Roger Rabbit, hands down. Salute to Splash, Natty Gann, Never Cry Wolf, Tron, Ruthless People, and The Little Mermaid.

1990 - Big fight between Hunchback, Rescuers Down Under and Tarzan. Don't have an answer yet. As far as live action goes, Alive and several Miramax films would seem obvious choices, but I don't think people here consider Shakespeare in Love to be Disney films.

2000 - On the animation side, I'd probably have to go with The Emperor's New Groove, edging out Lilo only because Lilo's third act is a bit of a mess, storywise. My wife would argue for Meet the Robinsons, and I would agree for the sole point of the return of sincerity to Disney animation after the years of "hip cynicism" wore us all out. As for live action, the decade aint over yet, but its hard to see Disney surpassing their Pirates trilogy in terms of audience response. Holes is a wonderful film Disney can be proud of, and Wardrobe and Caspian were solid, if shallow. But the chapter of this decade hasn't been written yet, so I'll hold judgement. Check back in 2011.

I respect your choice of Treasure Planet, but the Disney Nerd in me objects to "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" selected as best of the 70's -- especially since 2/3 of said film was previously released in the 60's! :)

Winnie the Pooh in IMDb

@Rudy Matt

Sorry, but IMDb says:

* The many adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1977)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076363/

It consists of:

* Winnie the Pooh and the honey tree (1966)
* Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day (1968)
* Winnie the Pooh and Tigger too (1974)

I follow the year of publication in IMDb this compilation of a Disney classic was complete. In this treat I see that other people have listed this classic in 1970’s too.
