It's about a new Disney Movie called "Gnomeo and Juliet". obviously based on Shakespears "Romeo and Juliet" but based in the world of ceramic gnomes! it'll also be animated in CGI. Sounds a lil weird but at the same time... Elton John and Tim Rice are joining up to write music for the film, and Ewan Mcgreror and Kate Winslet are expected to be the voices of Gnomeo and Juliet!!! Maybe disney is goin back to it's good ol' musical days.
Oh, CGI?? I really hope that Disney would get back to the hand drawn animation.

That original post is from 2005, i'm surprised I even remembered I made this topic 5 years ago lol. At that point Disney was stopping traditional animation and moving completely to CGI.
It's interesting to see how long this film floated around in a kind of limbo and is finally coming out.
I remember initially being excited about this project, but now I'm just kinda "meh" about it. I'll keep an eye out for anything new about it!

Well, it's not really a Disney project at all, anyway. It's going to be released under the Touchstone branch of Disney, and the animation itself is going to be outsourced.

Really? Okay... I didn't knew, I really thought it was a Disney project.

The definition of 'Disney' project is pretty broad. Depends on who you ask really.
Though I don't understand why they don't just release it through Disney, instead of Touchstone. Aside from it (maybe) not being for the appropriate age demographic I see no reason why this can't be released through the Disney name. It would probably be more successful too. Not that it matters though, I'd just like to know why.

The Bitch is Back.
Which is an Elton John song they
want to use, but certainly can't if it's from a Disney movie. This information coming from a Jim Hill article, though, which was published maybe four years ago?

I still hope they will go through on their one hand-drawn movie every two years promise. And I am not so sure about this movie.

It says that Disney is still distributing it theatrically, though.

They will. But this isn't a WDAS Film. Disney are just distributing it. Like The Wild and Ponyo

Well, I saw a LOT of footage at the Cinema Expo in june, I am kind of surprised they haven't even posted a single final image of the movie, cause they showed a LOT of final animation in the reel we saw. The characters look really cuddly and cute, and it's a lot less crude then I suspected. They should be releasing a trailer soon I guess...

Agreed. They could make a really awesome movie since Gnomes are cool anyway.

It's not that bad. I find it silly and cute. You really can't judge from the trailer anyway. They do the same with all animated movies apparently. They try to make the movie look hip and crude and Shrek-ish; a recent example being the
Tangled ttailer.
Here's a new still from the movie:
