yeah, he used to be around WDW all the time.
Alot of people knew who he was there.
He's what you can a HUGE DISNEY FANATIC!!

I think as long as he's not making money off of all the tattoos (how he could do that, is beyond me) he is allowed to have all the tattoos he wants.

The only way I can see him making money off his tattoos is if he sells pictures of himself or charges for autographs, which would certainly upset Disney's legal department.

My wife and I met him at WDW a few years ago. He seemed okay and actually lives near us. Shelly didn't care for him at all, he seemed very smug and she walked away from him. It almost seemed to me that he created this persona for himself that he feels the need to live up to, but he really didn't seem to have the love for WDW anymore. Although, he does go there every month.

What I think is the most interesting about this is how it is that he needs permission or that Disney's legal department could say anything if he sold autographs of himself.... I mean would their legal claim be that just because they are on his body he would still need to get permission to "sell" them? But he really isn't selling "them" (the tattoos), he would be selling an autographed photo of himself. The only legal argument that I can imagine Disney having would be to stop him from getting the Disney likeness tattooed without paying a royalty or whatever it's called (a licensing fee?) Someone help me out on this one.....

BTW, my husband who saw a better picture of him says the tattoos are like really bad quality. What truth is there to that, Maerj?

Well Disney could make a claim that they own these animated characters and their likeness, regardless of which medium they are being drawn on (paper, film cells, walls, skin...). That would be quite the interesting lawsuit. The reason Disney goes after nursery schools and the like is that they risk losing their copyright if they don't go after them. Otherwise, when one day down the road they want to sue Dreamworks for making a Mickey Mouse movie, their lawyers could point out that Disney has had a history of letting their characters be used by the public. That would be a tougher argument to make for one guy with tattoos and I seriously doubt that they would ever pursue it, but they could.

Jeez, that's a LOT of tattos! He must have every disney character ever imagined. How does he deal with the pain of getting the tattos on?

Believe me, if I had the money, my house would look JUST like that guy's. But I don't have that much money, so I'm stuck with my little shrine. I spend the majority of my money on Disney collectibles, though. When I have a professional career, I wouldn't be surprised if I set up a percentage of my paycheck that goes into buying Disney stuff. I think a lot of people here might do the same.

However, I think his tattoos look tacky. Maybe if he had just a couple, then it would look nice, but it's just too much now. And I would get really bored if I went to Disney World every month. Twice a year would be my maximum; I don't want to get tired of it!

Over $100,000 spent on tattoos, $70,000 a YEAR spent on Disney vacations, and over $1,500,000 spent on Disney memorabilia?!?! No wonder he's the number one Disney fan; he's loaded!

I went to his website and almost all the picture links are broken, so I can't see the pics of his house! But here's another issue brought up by Brownie: Over $100K spent on tattoos, over $70K on Disney vacations, $1.5M on Disney memorabilia..... he has at least 2 houses (one in Florida) with money spent on furnishing it with Disney stuff, yet this guy is JUST a postal worker?! He was abandoned by his folks (assuming no big inheritance).... This doesn't financially add up.

So that is how it works. Thanks! I think someone posted earlier that Disney had filed but later dropped the lawsuit? I assume then that the agreement he worked out with Disney (not to make $ off his tattoos) was the "settlement" agreement. After all, what type of settlement could Disney practically get? All they could probably get was monetary damages since they can't expect him to remove the tats! A cease and desist order to stop putting tattoos on? That would be hard to enforce. So I suppose Disney looked at this from a very pragmatic viewpoint:

1) they can't gain much from suing him, and
2) bad publicity.

BTW, Disney now has a full home furnishings division where you can not only buy housewares, but actual furniture! I wonder if he's begun refurnishing his house with any of it.

This is called the Walt Disney Signature Line and is being rolled out by Disney Consumer Products. The very classy 1940s styled furniture is geared towards "trend savvy affluent" consumers. (the picture shows a very 1940s styled couch and chair set - it indeed looks like something you might have seen in Walt's house or studio office!)

"Walt Disney Signature Line, a quality home furnishings and lifestyle brand inspired by home and office furnishings Walt Disney commissioned from legendary designer and architect K.E.M. Weber in the 1930s and 1940s, made an attention-grabbing debut at the High Point, N.C. domestic Furniture show on April" says the article.

It appears the line may be sold through Thomasville Furniture. It doesn't say when the line will be officially available to the public. This article is dated May 12th 2006.

Well, if there's Disney Furniture, rest assured this guy will snap it up.

And hey! Is he on a balanced diet? If not, he should consume Disney fruit, for all the vitamins he needs.

To each his own. He isn't harming nobody and he seems to be having a blast, so why not?

I've met him before. Bobby & I were at Epcot, and we were walking behind someone with a lot of Disney tattoos, and we were debating whether or not to ask if he's the Disney Tattoo Guy, but we did, and he was pretty nice!

What I don't think is fair is how he's allowed to have a bunch of Disney tattoos, and Disney would rather other people not. I mean, if you just have a few covered up (like when you wear a shirt), then I'm sure that they don't mind, but other people who try and get a massive amount of Disney tattoos get sued and they have to get laser removal surgery.

But he, his tattoos, and his house are awesome!

I've seen him twice so far on my college program.
