This sucks...The U.S. release misses nearly two hours' worth of features. I'm hoping that things have just been muddled and that our release does include at least the film-related stuff (I won't mind so much if the stage-related stuff gets left off). I wonder if Canada's release will be like ours or the UK's...

I doubt it.
Warner is the distributor of the film in the USA and Canada, so their releases will probably be identical.

But isn't Warner also distributing it in the UK?

No.
When Warner Bros. sold the film rights back to ALW so he could produce it independantly, they kept first-look distribution rights, but decided only to distribute it in the USA and Canada. This resulted in the movie being handled by a different distributor in almost every country. The UK theatrical release, at least, was handled by Oddessy Entertainment. I'm not sure who's doing the DVD release there, but it ain't WB.
Funny thing is that a few months before the movie came out (sometime in late summer if I recall correctly, when they saw the final cut) there were reports of WB trying to change its mind and begging ALW for forigen distribution rights, offering to pay as much as double what the forigen distributors did for them, but he declined since they were already sold. Shows what WB knows.

Entertainment (who do the movie distribution) and Entertainment In Video (who do the home video distribution) are (generally) rubbish - but they seem to have turned themselves around abit now.
They have the fortune to distribute New Line films in the UK, and as a result got the Lord of the Rings titles. After that cash cow, they seem to be trying harder, and paying for and getting other films.

Oh, sorry, I missed that. I'm still disappointed in what we're missing, but if all of the other WB-released Phantom DVD's match ours, then I won't complain too loudly.

Will the 2 disc that is being released in the UK be released on the same day as the US version? I'd much rather purchase the UK version.

Thanks! Is the 2 disc being released the same day? I went to the Amazon UK site to pre-order it and only saw the single disc version. Is there someplace else I can pre-order the 2 disc?

As far as I know, there is only the 2 disc version in the UK. It's just Entertainment's poor PR confusing the retailers again

Well, as I said Entertainment In Video are rubbish.
http://www.r2-dvd.org/article.jsp?secti ... cleId=7009
That said, I didn't notice any problems on mine, so it's probably player specific (and it is more noticable on the DTS track I am informed, and we don't have DTS in our house). In fact, I was watching in Dolby 2.0 as we don't have any amp at all, which may explain the non-issue.
Its a shame, as Entertainment had made an above average attempt at releasing a decent Phantom disc.
More extras. A DTS track and a proper downmixed DD2.0 track. Actual screen printed discs (previous EiV discs are just black ink on the shiny DVD) and a slipcase.
But once again, EiV stay true to their roots.
Oh by the way (I don't blame EiV for this) but not all of the footage classified by the BBFC found its way onto the UK release. Some interesting Easter Eggs exist though. Including the trailer (I know the trailer is standard on the R1 release).
