This series exist since almsot 2 years in Europe but is not really interresting to my opinion, owner of most of the Disney Treasures line since it's jsut a selection of cartoons among many others.
All the one you have on these DVDs are on the WDT.

However, I'll maybe pick up Chip & Dale 'coz I've got nothing especially dedicated to them and this DVD isn"t released in Europe.

Also, sine I'm French I'm gonna speak for my country : on October 20th, BVHE France has released a "Holiday Season" Gift Pack of the 3 volumes avaialble (sse the post of KinOO above).

Those two volumes are already out in Europe! I've had mine for at least three months...

There are countries in Europe other than the UK, you know!

Yes I know that some countries already have them.

I was just trying to speak in general!

And you get the impression most of the UK doesn't want to be in Europe. I wonder if Disney UK "opted out" and negotiated a veto on Chip n' Dale DVD releases? :D

If the DVDs are exactly the same as the international versions, I think you should think twice before buying them: the ending and closing credits of each short have been edited and substituted by some ridiculous footage of people saying how much they love the respective character.

Do you think it is worth getting the "movie versions" if you have the Davy Crockett treasures set with the 4 tv shows? I also have a vhs of DC and the River Pirates, so it is tough for me to want another.

Well that depends on how much you like them, I suppose. The films are episodic in nature, but in some ways they feel very tight and structured rather than being able to mosey about and contain a narrative in each episode. The first film works particularly well, whereas the second one seems more like a slightly-pared down version of the two episodes (it's less selective, working from just two episodes).

There are no color dropouts in the film versions, either. But the parts that do that in the Treasure may be portions not used in the films. I'd need to look into that.

There's a different feel to the movies than the TV shows, so it's not just like the same exact thing. Some may even prefer the pacing of the films. The price is right for the two-movie set, but it ultimately depends on how big of a fan of Disney's Davy Crockett you are.

An updated press release has been issued for these. The only difference is they're now emphasizing the low price and revealing that these will feature both FastPlay and the EasyFind menus.

perfect for those who missed treasures and for casual fans.

Since the 3 missing Goofy are around 20m each, they could actually put them togueter on a separate single layer 60minute later release, maybe throw in a couple of trailers for the Goofy movies and make a killing for us Goofy completists  (and probably any one else that likes goofy :P) Could be called: The Rest of Goofy :P

And as (i asked this once but nobody has confirmed it yet) Soccermania has supposedly the first appearance of Roger Rabbit..
so RR completists may fall into the trap.. er I mean the purchasing numbers :D
Soccermania also has the first appearances of several characters from DuckTales, about 2 years before the TV series. Soccermania has been released on DVD in other countries. It's not included on "The Complete Goofy" because it's not a theatrical Goofy short. It's a made for TV special from 1987. Same reason the Freewayphobia shorts were not included, those are considered educational shorts. They haven't shown Freewayphobia in years, possibly because they are politically incorrect (Goofy the drunk driver smashing into things, etc.). They have been released on VHS, part of the "Wonderful World of Disney" set from the 80's.

I've actually seen those Freewayphobia shorts on television within the last five years I'd say. I wish I taped them. I should keep an eye out if they show up again.

Anyways I'll be buying both Mickey and Chip n Dales sets since I never got the first Mickey Treasures tin sadly. I've seen it online on eBay but I have no credit card. :(

I'm hoping they do more sets like these because I would love to see maybe a small set with Humphrey! Growing up he was always one of my favourites even though he wasn't around much. I would love to see Disney also put out a couple of these of Silly Syphonies since I missed that Treasures set too (le sigh). Two others I would love to see are a Halloween and Christmas set but I would hope they would be better packaged like maybe they could have the christmas one in a collector's box that maks it look like a gift and have the tag as the label.
Sure it would be somewhat double-dipping but I wouldn't mind to have all the major Christmas moments on a DVD collected together.

I've updated the first post with stills from some of the shorts that will be included on these DVDs. Strange to think these come out in just three weeks, as they were announced so recently.

High-priced Disney Treasures?

While I realize not everyone has access to some of these stores, Disney Store, Best Buy and Walmart sell the Walt Disney Treasure releases about the cheapest around, $24.99.

I wonder whether Chip and Dale merit a Treasure release, so I plan to buy the Jan. 11 DVD.

If I should just take a guess, I'd say there probably won't be a Chip & Dale set in the Treasures series.

However, that does not mean that we won't see C&D in the Treasures. Most of their appearances are likely to be included in two or three forthcoming Donald Duck sets. This has been pointed out several times in earlier posts already.

I've just posted reviews for two of these: <a href="http://www.ultimatedisney.com/ccf1-mickey.html">Vol. 1 - Starring Mickey</a> and <a href="http://www.ultimatedisney.com/ccf3-goofy.html">Vol. 3 - Starring Goofy</a>.

So, nodoby knows whether another set of Chip N Dale will be released in the US ? Because I'd like to buy the 2 european sets with 16 Chip N Dale cartoons on them.
But maybe if anopther region 1 set is comming out, there'll be another 9 cartoons, so it will be 18 cartoons in total with the 1st volume...

I'm not picking these up since I already have the Treasures - well, maybe I'll get Chip 'n Dale - but I hope they get picked up by people who either missed out on the Treasures or those who want an inexpensive way to introduce their kids to Mickey & friends.

I'm glad they don;t come with bonus features, though. That way, I don't feel like I'm missing out or that I'm paying too much for the premium stuff.

My nephew was over a couple days ago and loved the Chip and Dale cartoons.
