One question about the Looney Toon's set, (haven't been researching the release as much as I wan't too). Are the episodes being released, per character, chrongologically?, or randomly? I'm assuming chronologically, but you never know...

The last two discs release famous first cartoons for the main characters. The first two release "best ofs". It would be a very boring collection if released chronologically. Although there is a 4 disc and 2 disc set, the 2 disc set is included in the 4 disc set.

Confusing I know

By the way Bugs Bunny is included in 139+ cartoons! That's 3 4 disc sets alone!

I'm entering the characters in reverse chronological order into my database, and it's getting more and more time consuming as hardly any characters reoccur from short to short (apart from Inki and Bosko of course). I would take a number of releases before any recognisable characters would be included in chrological sets.

Note: the LD only released Best of collections, but were highly praised - and these discs look better!

Personally I would favor a reverse chronological release order - but most people don't like the 60's shorts (I on the other hand rather like them, especially Cool Cat!) The 'poor quality' 60's cartoons would be released quickly is reverse chronological sets were released.

Oh all right.. However, it bothers me not (well, not much), for as long as I am getting them, I can trash the gay VCD's from Iran... :P

Here's the Space Jam specs:

1.85:1 Anamorphic Widescreen and 1.33:1 Full Screen transfers

English, French and Spanish subtitles
Featurette – Jammin’ with Bugs Bunny and Michael Jordan
An hour of new-to-DVD shorts, including Another Froggy Evening, Invasion of the Bunny Snatchers, Night of the Living Duck, The Duxorcist and Bugs vs. Daffy Battle of the Music Video Stars!
Music videos including Seal’s “Fly Like an Eagle” and Monstars’ anthem “Hit ‘Em High.”
Looney Tunes: Back in Action sneak peak
Trailer

DVD-Rom Features:
Fully playable, multi-level Flash mini-game inspired by the Looney Tunes: Back in Action video game
Behind-the-scenes look at the making of the Looney Tunes: Back in Action video game

Not really a 2 disc set - it could easily fit on one, but they insist on having Full and Widescreen versions! :(

I don't know how long this is: Featurette – Jammin’ with Bugs Bunny and Michael Jordan but we could do with a 1 hour plus "making of" - covering everything from the animation, the effects, to the selection of characters and perhaps even pointing out some of the background detail and characters on certain shots. Or how about a retrospective of Looney Tunes from the 30's to the 90's?

These shorts:
Invasion of the Bunny Snatchers, Night of the Living Duck, The Duxorcist
are from the 1980's. Not classic Looney Tunes. Not sure what this short is: Bugs vs. Daffy Battle of the Music Video Stars but it sounds like 'fluff' :(

Looking forward to Another Froggy Evening even though this is another 80's short. Quite what it has to do with Space Jam when Michigan J. Frog is only in the film for a few brief seconds I don't know.

I'm somewhat disappointed. Again they've aimed it at kids and filled it with promotions- Music Videos, Computer Games and Upcoming films. Why should we pay for promotions? Should they not be paying us?

Odd when the Looney Tunes sets are almost certainly aimed at adults, and a lot of care and attention has gone into making them. :(

Kinda disappointing, yeah. And the Music-Only and Commentary tracks are gone? What's up with that?! I wonder if "including" means that R. Kelly's video (no, not THAT video - "I Believe I Can Fly") will still be here.

This is one I'll solely update because I own the DVD in P&S and I loathe P&S. Seems like one to get from Columbia House for cheap at some point.

^ Dissapointing.

The original black and gold box set concept looked a lot more elegant.

I even preferred the tin container to that.

Are you sure that's final? Where was it announced?

I spoke to Jerry Beck concerning this the other day and he assured me that it would be his dream to be able to compile all of the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melody shorts into chronological sets beginning with the earliest black & white cartoons to the most recently dated, however Warner Brothers unfortunately does not see a market for this. They are under the impression that these sort of releases do not have much appeal to an adult demography and so the sales of this first set will determine the direction that future installments of these releases will take. This first set is unfortunately not archived or themed as it is more or less a random grouping of more recognizable titled shorts, and the reason for this is basically that those are the cartoons that were made available through restoration. Mr. Beck had a list of shorts to chose from, of which he did not compile, however on the next volume, he assured me that he was able to chose from a more varied and eclectic compilation of shorts. He has also promissed me that he would love to include many rarities and obscure titles as opposed to the more mainstream and obvious picks, however that will be planned in time, again depending on the sales of this first series. That said, there is still some great content on these discs and I am gratefull that Warner Bros is finally deciding to releases theses long-overdue sets! We can only hope that the sales do well and eventually we get every single cartoon released to DVD, preferably in the same context as the laserdiscs, if not in chronological form.

On the DVDtoons it explains that there is more than one release of Looney Tunes on DVD this October. I know I've seen the cover art for all of them before, but I was wondering if there are any cartoons that overlap on each release. I would hate to buy more than one and find that most of the shorts on both sets are identical.

There are two releases - Golden & Premiere.

Premiere is a 2 disc set.

Golden is a 4 disc set which features 2 of the Premiere discs as well as 2 more.

I have also been told that there is a possibility for more than one annual release of future installments.

They were at least sorted by directors, characters, etc. These have no connecting theme. The laser discs were compiled in a more efficient format than these discs.

JUUUUUST to make sure and let me get this straight; Looney Tunes Golden Collection INCLUDES the same content as the Premier Collection, so there is absolutely no need to get Premier if I get gold. [The reason I'm checking is because these caroons are almost as much a part of my childhood as Disney, so I don't wanna miss out on the original shorts].
Thanks Guys.

I'm so glad to hear that Jerry wanted a wider range of shorts on these sets (and hopes to include some on the next set) because I do feel there are a few too many 1950's shorts.

2099net, how can you like those shorts from 1964 onwards? I think some of them are alright (Daffy's Diner being one) but many are just dull, lifeless and are a waste of time and money.
On a completely different note, for your Looney Tunes website why not just use the plot synopsis from Jerry Becks Looney tunes book, it would be much quiker than writting your own.
