About International releases on Mexico:

Snow White and Sleeping Beauty were released as a "Deluxe Edition"
Beauty and the Beast was released as "Special Collector's Edition"
Peter Pan, Pinocchio and Lion King are being released as "Special Edition"
The rumor about Cinderella is that it will be a "Deluxe Edition"

About the movie:

About Cinderella being the Brandy movie, I don't think so, it wasn't released here and, except for Withney Houston, the rest of the cast is not know over here and I don't think Disney will make anspecial issue of that movie...

About the DVD:

It seems Argentina is getting Cinderella this October too, since the support team of an online store confirmed it will be relased that month...
(Remember that Walt Disney Company Mexico is the one that distrubutes BVHV all over Latinamerica)

About the Platinum Edition Line:

I think it'll fade away...
don't you?

A DVD-shop in the Netherlands told me that Disney told them that the Platinum Edition of 2004 will be Aladdin and in 2005 will be Bambi and Cindrella.

It would make sense if Bambi and Cinderella were the 2005 release's, since those are the last two to not have been released on DVD at all yet.

After that I think 2006 will be The Little Mermaid and The Jungle Book then in 2007 will be Lady And The Tramp and of course 101 Dalmatians.

The original Cindy won't come out on DVD until people have had enough time for therapy to recover from the trainwreck that was Cinderella II.

Whats even worse is that Cinderella II will get a Special edition re-release when the original comes to DVD. Why do Disney give these cheapquals such treatment when films such as Robin Hood, Black Cauldron etc get really poor DVDs?

I wouldn't worry about it too much; Disney's idea of DTV special editions are a fluffy promotional featurette, some games, and a music video (see the B&tB sequels). Though I do agree that Disney should spend more time focusing on Special Edition re-releases of the classics, but it seems they're on a start with the SE re-releases of Alice in Wonderland, Pocahontas, and Lilo and Stitch. :D

Ric-If you can, PLEASE take some screencaps from the DVD, for I'd love to see Cinderella's menus as well as it's transfer as I expect only the best for this film.

I hope it will be released...

First I want it released!!!
I hope it's not a big fat lie from Disneylatino and Linea Disney

Right now I think it's 50/50 the chances, because I have many clues but not a 100% reliable source.

If it does get any release (even a 1 disc) I'll post all the info immediately (specs, cover, disc art), and I'll find out the way to take screen caps.

That's what I'm saying! Especially releasing the live action films that were Anchor Bay :( and P&S

Am I right in thinking most Mexican Disney DVD's are dual encoded R4 and R1? Do you think there is a chance Cinderella will be dual encoded too, or not, being as it has yet to have a R1 release?

Oh, holy crap, if that's true then I'm definitely ordering Cinderella. I don't usually order foreign discs, but I think Cinderella will be an exception due to the fact that it's on my "must have" list of films on DVD.

Disneykid - before you get too excited, wait for confirmation from Ric or Joe. :)

I'm not Ric or Joe, but I can confirm personally and from what I've heard from others including Ric on the old condom board, that Mexican DVDs are encoded for both R1 and R4. Of course, there's no Amazon.mexico site, but there's still bound to be a few e-tailers from whom you can buy and have it shipped it to the US.

There's a reason I started my post with "if that's true". ;)

...it is CONFIRMED by "LĂneaDisney" that Cinderella release was delayed, because they didn't wanted to "damage" the Lion King release...

I'm SO angry because of this...

No Cinderella for 2003...
No new release date...

This could take a while...

so...

Cinderella... definitely NOT Coming Soon...
