Or you could take the 10th Kingdom interpretation- Snow White knew, beneath the surface, that she couldn't live in fear, so she took a chance on the old hag against her better judgment. I view her as an innocent victim of a vicious step-mother who used power to put her in peril that was beyond her control. I really don't like the application of feminism to her tale, as it doesn't really apply, and diminishes the story unfairly. Just my opinion.DisneyGirl wrote:Snow White - Is almost murdered by the huntsman because she's prettier than the Wicked Queen, (what a lame reason for murder), She runs into the forest and lives with seven little old men as their cook and maid. Is naive enough to eat something a stranger gave her. Wishing apple, yeah...oookay....
Well, she was under a magical trance from the mistress of all evil, but whatever.DisneyGirl wrote:though what kind of princess is going to go near a spinning wheel, let along use one?)
The 10th Kingdom was a wonderful movie, and an even better book, I honestly think it's unfair to the writer to transfer it's ideas/plots onto the Disney version. I guess I just find the Snow White story to be rather lame. The Wicked Queen wants to kill Snow White because she's not as pretty? I just have a hard time with that whole plot as the basis for 'one of Disney's most beloved classics' or whatever they call it in the many trailers over the years.awallaceunc wrote: Or you could take the 10th Kingdom interpretation- Snow White knew, beneath the surface, that she couldn't live in fear, so she took a chance on the old hag against her better judgment. Yeah, I don't mean how it happens in the movie, I mean in general. Maleficent used the trance to make her curse come true, but if she hadn't done that, it probably wouldn't have happened on it's own.awallaceunc wrote:Well, she was under a magical trance from the mistress of all evil, but whatever.DisneyGirl wrote:though what kind of princess is going to go near a spinning wheel, let along use one?)
Ummm, you do realize that all of the Disney movies made after (and including) TGMD have used computers for animation, don't you? Unless you think they were all bad, than I suggest you don't make them obsolete, LOL. Even if the entire movie is hand-drawn, you will need computers for technical things like sound and contrast.lord-of-sith wrote:Then computers will be obsolete and pencils will be the way of the future!

Actually The Black Cauldron used computer graphics first.PrinceAli wrote:Ummm, you do realize that all of the Disney movies made after (and including) TGMD have used computers for animation, don't you? Even if I don't like a movie, I still have it in my collection. However, I have no intention of buying a 2 disc set or any other version if they are released. The basic movie with no special features is fine with me, especially since I don't like the movie to begin with. I would however buy a second copy of, oh, say a Platinum Edition Lady and the Tramp (since I only have the Limited Issue). I'm still trying to decide if I want Alice in Wonderland enough to buy a second copy. Maybe I'll drop into Costco today and see how much they are. (Any thoughts on the new release?)edm114 wrote:The movies that you do not like, do you still have them in your collection? I do, but the ones I haven't seen I did not buy yet.
I wasn't being very logical, I was just trying to make a point.PrinceAli wrote:Ummm, you do realize that all of the Disney movies made after (and including) TGMD have used computers for animation, don't you? However, if I don't like a movie then I didn't pay full price for it. Most of the ones I listed in my "I don't care for" list I got from second hand stores for around $5 (The Black Cauldron, Saludos Amigos, The Great Mouse Detective, The Rescuers (and The Rescuers Down Under), The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr Toad, Atlantis, Treasure Planet, The Emperor's New Groove). However, they're all in mint condition (and the rescuers is still sealed...no one bought it so they lowered the price again and again and again...so I ended up playing $8 for it.)
The only movie I haven't seen is The Rescuers (I saw it when I was really little, but I don't remember it at all, so I feel like I've never seen it). I have it still in shrink wrap in my collection (more because I bought it last week and just haven't felt like watching it).

Hey, you don't have to defend the 10th Kingdom to me! I co-run the fan club and street team!DisneyGirl wrote:The 10th Kingdom was a wonderful movie, and an even better book, I honestly think it's unfair to the writer to transfer it's ideas/plots onto the Disney version.
