Date set for the next Groove
With Tarzan II and Lilo And Stitch 2 likely to head into theaters, one title that looks destined to go direct-to-video is The Emperor's New Grove II - AKA The Emperor's Newer Groove. With an animation time of just over one year, it looks as if this DTV film will have the production values of a Cinderella II or a Pocahontas II rather than the feature quality of the first film, or even the above standard Return To NeverLand or Jungle Book 2 sequels. The Internet Movie DataBase is listing a release date of July 20 2005.
Yes, Tarzan 2 and Lilo and Stitch 2 might go to threatre that is so cool!!!
I hope they are better sequels then the ones Disney made lately.
I'm also happy for The Emperor's New Groove 2!!!!

Hey, I just saw that!

Too bad that ENG2 sounds like it wasn't given proper care off

I wanna see some screenshots or something... sounds like an OK DTV.

The original wasn't that stellar in terms of animation, so I'm tempted to see how the sequel will look with lesser production values

I don't think this is a fair comment. Being as the news first broke about The Emperor's Newer Groove months and months ago (and then it was due to the musical soundtrack recording) something must have been in an animated state then. So it's getting perhaps 2 years or more for the animation. I doubt that they animate to pre-composed music for the timings.

There will definitely be a direct to video Emperor’s New Groove II. It is already in progress. I am not sure when it will be released or what it will be about.

I forgot about this post, but I found out from the directors, indirectly, that it will straight to video.

I doubt Disney wouldn't release Lilo 2 in theatres first. It was a bigger success than ENG, plus if Teacher's Pet made it's way onto the big screen, I'm sure DisneyToons wil definitely try their hardest to get this to your local cinema.

Dang, this is disappointing. I'd rather see ENG as a theatrical sequel than Lilo & Stitch 2. I wonder if Eisner will be hesitant to OK any traditional animation going to theaters?

I don't if I should see this "sequel" when it is released. I mean, the original is one my favorite Disney movies. Still, I don't know...
Also, I read somewhere that there was going to be a The Emperor's New Groove:The TV Series in 2006. I don't want to know what's wrong with the Walt Disney Company....

Well, better to have an Emperor's New Groove series than one based on Snow White. No idea how they could possibly do a series on it. Kuzco had theoretically completed his transformation into a kind-hearted soul by the end of the movie.
I also wonder if they'll be able to get the voice cast back. David Spade and Patrick Warburton coincidentally appear on ABC shows, so there should be no trouble getting them, but John Goodman is busy on a sitcom of his own (not that it's a problem, since at one point he had shows on both NBC and CBS). I think the biggest question mark is Eartha Kitt. Speaking of which, I hope they manage to work in some of the songs that they deleted from the movie. Her performance on "Snuff Out the Light" was great fun.
