I think those articles deliberately phrased the title in just such a way to sound like "Toy Story 5 was cancelled" to get more clicks.
Anyway, I didn't notice any new information in the article (I didn't open the DailyMail one)--I think he only said they couldn't talk about TS5 while
Lightyear was on its way and during its release. I think Disney simply didn't want more of the sequelitis talk out there, and it would've been amped if TS5 was announced at the same time
Lightyear was--even though everyone had to know 5 was coming, no way they'd stop at a 4. At this point, I don't think it will ever end, they already pulled the band-aid off by continuing after 3, imo.

That doesn't make any sense. It has to be an error, right?

Sounds like another article that doesn’t understand the difference between Pixar and Disney.

It might be a mistake but also it might be that they might bring people from Disney Animation to assist Pixar.
Any other publication I would rule it out as a mistake but this is THR, and who the heck doesn't know that Toy Story is Pixar?!

Pixar's Leader Talks Balancing Originals and Sequels
https://gizmodo.com/new-pixar-movies-in ... 1850548513
I think it’s essential for us to develop new original stories, which are harder to publicize, harder to get people excited to go see them. But I think audiences deserve it. They want to find that surprise, along with the comfort of the expectation. We have our share of sequels in the works. We’re doing a sequel to Inside Out, so you get to go back inside the mind of Joy and Sadness. We have another Toy Story, so Woody and Buzz are back. And we have a few other projects, but it’s always a balance.
I think it’s safe to say that, yes, both Woody
and Buzz will be in Toy Story 5 (but, I mean, was Pixar really going to get rid of one of them?).

I don't think there's ever been any doubt Woody would be in the film. I still think Buzz will have the dominant role for once though--and he's mostly felt secondary, if not tertiary, in the other films aside from the first.

Saturday Morning Serial Season 5: John Morris, Voice of Andy from Toy Story, Interview!
https://www.podpage.com/saturday-mornin ... interview/
When asked about Toy Story 5, John Morris said he couldn’t say anything. Could he be involved? I mean, if he says he can’t say anything, that implies that he knows something, which could imply that he’s been contacted by Disney.
I’m not saying that it’s likely that Andy could be in Toy Story 5; that ship has sailed quite nicely with Toy Story 3. But then again, Bo Peep was missing for a movie and then reintroduced.

Perhaps out on his adventures, Woody miraculously sees Andy somewhere? I could see an event like that inspiring him to return to the other toys and Bonnie.

The DisInsider is claiming is that Andy will be returning in Toy Story 5 as an adult and his new family will play a part in the film's plot.
Update: The insider
My Time to Shine claims that's not true.

Do you guys find odd that Bob Iger have referred to this movie as “the first Toy Story movie since 2019” instead of Toy Story 5 in the earnings call? They’ve also used this nomenclature in the pdf presentation:

Is Iger being weird or does that mean something else, like Pixar doing another movie set in Andy’s childhood? Or is Iger trying to erase Lightyear from existence?

Why would that be weird? Lightyear is not a toy story film. Its an accurate description/framing.

Most definitely this. He wanted to obscure the fact that Lighyear was part of the Toy Story franchise and signal to Wall Street that this will be a Toy Story installment proper and therefore commercially successful.
