Also notice that whenever they hit the dress it changes instantly. The only time it doesn't happen is when Merryweather hit the ribbon, but the way Flora did it was similar to the rest.
That's a good point too which I never thought of.

And I don't own Sleeping Beauty on VHS anymore so sorry Duster. However, like Farerb said, the film print would be older than the VHS so I wouldn't put much weight in that then.
Actually, Fareb.... you SHOULD trust a 70s film negative more than a VHS.... although a VHS is pretty reliable when it comes to tampering. Let me explain: film prints can fade and damage; vhs depended a lot on how it was transferred, so no, neither are super reliable for a color palette. BUT: tampering with single frames or shots is a VERY contemporary thing. It wasn't really done in the 70s or 80s.

What they did to Maleficent's eyes in that one shot and to the changing of the color of the dress in that Flora shot is tampering in those specific shot. That did not happen 30 years ago. That is way more recent... and computers were used for that.

Now Disney Duster.... I share your perplexity. But... I also question the source of those shots. Was it indeed a 35mm print? was it indeed from the 70's? Not sure how reliable that one image is...

I think these fan restorations groups are pretty pedantic about these things.
With that being said I think you can put into question every restoration the film had. VHS remastering was not accurate at all, Blu-rays and DVDs are tempered with and even fan restorations are put into question like the 35mm of The Little Mermaid, to which people claimed that the colors are too faded.

I'm not a huge film purist, I don't really care about grain, noise, dust or whatever, and I understand that restoring a film will never be 100% accurate. In my opinion I want the film to look the best and these small changes/mistakes, like Maleficent's eyes or the way the dress changes, don't bother me or take me out of the film. If I had to choose between the 2003 DVD or the Blu-ray. Blu-ray wins along with its flaws.
It's when mistakes are made that are too obvious that bothers me or the color palette looks terrible. That's why I have problems with how Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella look on DVD or Blu-ray.

Yes, my meaning was that I would trust the film print more over the actual VHS which was likely tampered with and unreliable.

I´m glad for the discussion of the video. However, I still would like to know if people that own the Platinum edition have experienced problems to Play and/or navigate the Menus. And if so, what to do then?

Oops, we completely sidelined your issue! Sorry about that.

Is your Platinum Edition the US version or is it an international version? I've never encountered any issues with my US one and I've never heard anyone else have the same troubles that you're recounting.

I think it could be your new Blu-Ray player since you said it was fine in the old one. With new Blu-Ray players, some of the older Disney Blu-Rays struggle a little. For example, my Pinocchio Platinum Blu-Ray won't play the Cine-Explore feature. And the same holds true if I try and play it in my PS4 or portable Blu-Ray player that attaches to my laptop.

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

I´m really, extremely upset now. The same thing just happened to me with the Snow White Diamond BD!!!!

On the Main Menu I can access the language of it all. During the Previews I can skip them. But once I get to the Main Menu of the movie I can´t do anything. The worst part is that in this case I can move all around and can see the light on the BD Player blinking letting me know I have pressed the button. But it doesn´t want to get through!!!

For once, I can´t believe I never had these problems with my original BD Player so how come it would happen with a newer one? And worst of it all I don´t recall if I did watch some of these movies in the BD Player and had no problems with them or this is my first time trying.

Still, I don´t get it. This is the first time this has happened to me. I was just saying that I have the original BD releases of Harry Potter movies from 2007 that don´t even have Menus and don´t have any problem with them.

I´m very, very angry about it. I spent 30 minutes trying to watch the movie and couldn´t.

Do you think it might not be an issue with the fact that your Blu-Ray player is a new model and more an issue with the fact that your new Blu-Ray player might have some technical issues? Do any other non-Disney Blu-Rays work fine on it? Or if you took your Disney Blu-Rays and used them on a player belonging to someone else, would they work fine then? It does sound like the issue is more with your player than your discs because it's too coincidental that all your old Disney Blu-Rays aren't working.

Oh, I'm sorry, that sucks DC Fan. Maybe it's the new player you have, maybe it's a faulty one.

Marce82, thank you for sharing in my confusion. So, you think maybe the "35mm" is not really what it says it is?

VHS tampering... like Star Wars. :)

Never had problems with any BD or DVD before. In fact, I was surprised that it played some Region 1 DVDs like some Xena Seasons and the Thundercats.

Never mind, I tried almost all my Disney and Pixar BD and none of them want to play. They don´t even let me access the Main Menu.

And I know for sure now it didn´t happen before because I tried Coco that was given to me last year and it worked.

However, I even tried accessing the settings on the BD and that doesn´t work either. So I will do something as basic as getting new batteries.

If not, I don´t else know what to do. Things like this keep happening to me and in my case is worse since I have economical problems. So it´s not like I can go and get a new BD.

...I got a new phone. Kept it on a messenger bag to have it secure plus it had a screen protector and case yet once I was searching for something, it fell diagonally on the floor and broke.

...My laptop has the screen broken as well. Didn´t fall mind you. I just, gently, grabbed it from the corner to adjust it and broke from there. It was on warranty terms yet the store claimed I broke it by letting it fall or something since that doesn´t happen.

...And prior to that one I had another one that the hinge came faulty to the point that it broke and the whole thing stopped working. Only had it for several weeks. Claim the warranty and was told too that it wasn´t a manufacturer defect. That I had to break it.

Then the issue is definitely your BD.

I'm sorry to hear that you've been going through some economic troubles lately especially with issues with your other electronics.

Did you dispose of your old BD or sell it? Maybe you can take the new one to the store you bought it at and see what they say about replacing it or fixing it especially if it's a new buy.

Wow DC Fan, that's so terrible that life dealt you all that trouble with money and electronics. I hope you can get a new player that works.

I´ve contacted the company (LG) they told "that´s not supposed to happen". Really? And told me to go to a technician near me.

I will but I wondered how much it´ll be. I paid around 40.00 for it. So, obviously, if takes around that or more then what´s the point? But, in any case, can´t afford it.

And no, can´t claim any warranty. The BD player is from 2016.

As for the prior BD Player I got rid of it as it didn´t work. Reason why I got the new one.

Still, that is so weird that that it doesn´t want to play just Disney movies. And it´s especially painful for a Disney fan. So it´s not like I just have a couple of movies. I collect all the Disney and Pixar movies.

Anyways, thank you so much guys for your messages and support. Means a lot.

That really is weird it only does it to Disney and Pixar movies. And it really sucks because you are a Disney and Pixar fan! Maybe for Christmas someone should get you a new player!

Thank for the wishes but, sadly, is not going to happen.

So the BD Player busted completely.

Yesterday I could watch a Harry Potter movie but today I couldn´t. Tried another movie and doesn´t work either.

I'm so sorry to hear that. It's terrible that the company wouldn't help you beyond telling you to find a technician and that your player is older so there is no warranty left. If it's completely busted, will the company still not help you?

GOT FIXED!!!

Don´t ask me how.

I tried the BD Player again. While it was on I moved it and stopped working. Turned it on again and started working as if nothing. ALL movies play.
