The Hollywood Foreign Press which presents the Globes is different I believe from Academy voters. Also the Globes have already given awards to the Toy Story franchise "Best Musical/Comedy Film 1999 Toy Story 2 & Best Animated Feature 2010 Toy Story 3."
The Academy voters will pick either FII or TS4, since non have seen The Missing Link. And other than Toy Story 3, I don't think any animated sequel has won a major award.

Even the director and the producer were shocked when they picked up the award. I think Toy Story 4 is superior, but I really enjoyed Missing Link too and I'm glad Laika finally won a Golden Globe.

I feel a bit like you too. Their 2019 films don't seem worthy enough of winning an Oscar.

The British Academy needs to expand the animation categories to five nominees. It's ludicrous and insulting that every other category always has five nominees whereas the nominees in the animation categories keep fluctuating between three to four each year.
