Don’t look for any new songs from the duo for the rest of 2018. They have been collaborating with composer Alan Menken on additional songs for Disney’s live-action “Aladdin,” due in May 2019, and are working on Disney’s live-action adaptation of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” (writing new songs, reworking old tunes, “creating a new adaptation,” says Paul) for which there is currently no date.

Oh, good, you brought up exactly what blows up your first point *for* me, thanks. Sorry you don't like the Lopezes--the Moana soundtrack has just as bad or worse lyrics than those, if you want to talk about it--but this has nothing to do with Alan Menken (outside of the fact that Miranda decided to attach himself like, yes, a parasite to the TLM film). There’s also the fact that I was just rooting on the La La Land writers, which makes this assertion even more ridiculous.

Aladdin is just the start of Pasek and Paul’s collaboration with Disney, and the duo have been brought on to revamp the music for a live-action Snow White movie. “We’re taking the original [1937] animated film and updating it by writing new songs, reinterpreting some of the old songs, and creating a fully fleshed-out, robust live-action musical,” Pasek says.

“It’s a challenge because you’re really trying to expand something that so many people know so well and has been a part of so many people’s lives,” he adds, “but it’s been really fun because ‘Heigh-Ho’ in the original film is a very short song but we’re trying to expand it a little bit in this version. So getting to play around with that is really exciting.”

Doing all the songs will at least mean they’ll all have the same sound, and I can take their empty lyrics if all the songs are that way. But putting them beside a lyricist like Ashman, it’s a terribly unfair contrast.
