Don Hahn says the Beast was never called Adam, among other curiosities about the film:
It's long been assumed that the Beast's real name was Adam, but Hahn reveals that it wasn't true of the 1991 version: "As filmmakers, we never named him because there was never going to be a sequel where he turns back into the Beast. A lot of the fans came up with Adam, but we didn’t name him. To us, he’s not Adam. Had we named him, we would have named him a French name because the fairy tale takes place in France. So he would have been Francois or something. But if he’s Adam to you, he can stay Adam!"

And Disney has released some behind the scenes videos to celebrate the film's anniversary:
Animating Beast
Drawing with D23: Belle from "Beauty and the Beast"
Being Mrs. Potts
Animating Gaston
Which Beauty and the Beast Character Are You?

The videos for animating Beast and Gaston are from the Platinum edition DVD. But it's just like Disney to serve reheated food as something new.

I know. I posted them anyway because they are still new to the Internet and maybe there is someone who hasn't seen them yet. But they look a bit odd among the other videos because the animators have changed a bit since then.

Well, that really settles it! Of course the speculations about the Prince's name is understandable, but Oh Lord, the directors even mentioned this issue on the commentary! The Three Commentears mentioned in one of their commentaries for this movie that Glen Keane himself has certified that his name isn't Adam. And besides, why believing that his name is Adam anyway? Is it because of his Mediterranean features?

The reason people think his name is Adam, is because that is the name Disney uses on the merchandise for him! It is his official name! Just take a look at the Vinylmation of him, it clearly says Prince Adam on the bottom.

We all know that the Beast didn't have a name during the movie's production. They need to stop pestering the filmmakers about it all the time. Don Hahn is wrong though that the fans were the ones who named him Adam. It was Disney's consumer products division who did that so it would be easier to market and sell Beast in his human form.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.
First, in the Disney computer game "The D Show" the answer to what is the Beast's name is "Adam".
Most importantly, once during the productin of the film when Glen Keane was asked if the prince had a name, he said Adam. Apparently he was joking and may have made it clear it wasn't "really" his official name, but he said it.
So no, it was not just Disney fans and Disney trying to sell stuff that gave us the name.
Someone needs to remind Glen of the story where he said the prince's name was Adam.
Then, they should finally actually come up with a damn name, Adam or not, while all the original creators can because they're still alive and can do that. And then they should put it in the live-action film.

When did that happen? Was it captured on video? 'Cause when Glen was asked recently about it he denied it.

Paige O'Hara said it's Adam too.
Q: I've heard a lot of rumors about the Beast's real name. Is there any real name to the Prince?
Paige O'Hara: Disney will always deny it. What was the rumor you heard and I'll tell you if that's the one.
Q: I've heard it was Adam.
Paige O'Hara: Yes. Only the animators and the people at Disney knew that.

Alas, I can't find here where someone told me he was interviewed while the movie was being made and someone asked what the prince's name was and he said Adam. I think Glen Keane must have forgot it happened.
Sorry if I was rude when I said "wrong, wrong, wrong" by the way. I didn't mean to be mean.

The Beast doesn't need a name anymore than The Prince and Prince Charming need names.

I've never really liked the name Adam for him. It was always something like Francois in my head. Haha.
I saw the movie yesterday at El Capitan Theatre and it really is beautiful on the big screen. The animators did an amazing job! The colors were vibrant. The movie shines when the characters sing. Those songs make the movie!

Seriously, Disney? The "sneak peek" of the sneak peak of the B&TB remake was the actual sneak peak? How cheap and manipulative can you seriously get?!
But, hey, Lin, Alan, Stephen Schwartz, and the Lopezes are 19 minutes, so that's worth the 19 dollars

Hey, I'm mad about the sneak peek too. But I'm more concerned with the "new" transition from Something There to the Beast getting ready for his and Belle's date. Disney, if you're going to release the original cut as the main feature, at least do it with every original shot intact.
The jump from Lumiere and Bambette (I think that's the Feather Duster's name) directly to the date preparation seems a bit too awkward.

Isn't it Plumette in this version? Babette in the musical and Fifi in the third sequel.
