Well, at least Pocahontas has enough material to fill a second disc!!!

Im not saying that they had to put EVERYTHING from the laserdisc on this release (though it would have been nice), but something comparable to the Pocahontas 10 anniv. would have been nice.

There is no reason to buy this new set beyond improved resolution!

Luke's review of Hunchback on Blu ray

No new content in this edition? fucking bah. Gonna skip it then.

I don't see why anyone would want to skip this. From what I understand, the transfer is straight from the CAPS files. The improvement from the atrocious picture quality of the DVD alone is worth the purchase.

Plus, I fear if this doesn't sell very well, Disney will continue to assume Hunchback is unpopular and never give it a chance again in the future. Or any merchandise, etc.

I'm pissed about the special features, too. And the sequel that NO ONE wanted jacking up the price is infuriating, (And DON'T say it didn't. 24.99, no discount, no coupons? Every mainline (non-3D) Disney title on Blu-ray has usually been 18 dollars the day they drop in store at either Wal-Mart, Best Buy or Target, and that's with coupon. 24.99 with no discount at all for a release with zero new special features is ridiculous. They're charging more for the sequel being included.) But, I for one am excited about the transfer by itself at this point.

If I had a Blu-Ray player I'd be buying this as I consider Hunchback Disney's best film. Plus for me as I love the foreign language dubs the addition of the Brazilian Portuguese & Russian dubs is more than worth it when I do get a player. Of all the bonus features that were taken from the DVD they chose the 3 best ones.

I never got the DVD, so I'll be getting this.

Not sure if I will immediately though, since I only tend to buy the Diamond releases as they come out.

Like I have mentioned before... since I have no interest in blu ray, I wont be getting this. If the dvd included was good, I would have considered it... but its the old one.

Actually, most people I know dont have BD players

Wait. Just a clarification. The DVD that comes in the combo pack is a new transfer or they used the 2002 version?

^My understanding of Luke's revies is that they used the old dvds right down to the old previews, but with gray top surfaces

No, surely they don't have the old previews on this disc?!

I'm so excited for this, probably the most I've been excited for a Disney film for a while. I never bought this because I knew Disney would release it in a few years anyways. Can anyone find pictures of the packaging anywhere because I haven't seen them anywhere.

Luke's review for the new combo pack states :
Both of the old DVDs open with trailers for Beauty and the Beast: Special Edition, Tarzan & Jane, Max Keeble's Big Move, The Hunchback of Notre Dame II (the sequel advertises the original film's DVD debut instead), and Disney DVDs in general (Pure Digital Magic!), while their Sneak Peeks menus add ads for The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, "Schoolhouse Rock", and American Legends.

I would say that the hi-def alone would be enough reason to purchase this!

Watching movies in HD are a totally different experience -- it is like watching the movie for the first time again.

If you don't own a blu-ray or HD TV, you are missing out on huge wave of films that have never looked better. The price of a Blu-ray player is now as low as $44.00 so there is not really any price barrier anymore.

More and more of my friends are adopting blu-ray.

haha😄yeah! That's the give away with most "new" releases, the trailers that came with it

Well, greatGreg, that is your opinion. And there is a reason why blu ray players are so cheap now: BLU RAY IS DYING. Everything is shifting to digital distribution.

And if you think a movie is a better film for being in HD... well... we def have a diff approach to film viewing. most purists would actually say that a film is not a film if its not ON FILM. And hopefully, in a darkened theater.

I can appreciate a good move regardless of the resolution...

Yes, I guess the modern home theatre has nothing compared to a Super 8 version of the same film recorded in mono.

No wonder Best Buy is in trouble!

Sigh

I hate you second movie.

The Blu-ray opens with trailers for The Little Mermaid 3D, Monsters University, and Planes, followed by a Pinocchio anti-smoking PSA.

.... INTER-rest-ing...
