Avaitor wrote:I LOVE American Dragon myself. I have an extreme affection for dragons in general, so it's not so surprising that I got into the show, but the characters and interaction, especially the relationship between Jake and Rose, got me to stick around. It also helps that I'm a big fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Joss Whedon in general, which the show took a lot of influence from.
I have never really been into dragons, but the deeply developed mythology in the show involving the huntsclan and everything really dragged me in, in addition to the character relationships. Oh and Rose's rich backstory. Remember she had a twin before she was taken that we never even got to learn more about? And yes, the relationship between her and Jake. God, it got really intense at times. Wow, that show was so underrated now that I think of it.

And the voice of Fu Dog was John Di Maggio, who also voices Bender in Futurama and Jake in Adventure Time. I'm a big adventure time fan, so I was really excited when I realized this.
Avaitor wrote:I also greatly prefer the second season to the first. Yes, yes, the animation change was jarring at first, but I grew used to it, and the writing became so much better as it went along. The obnoxious use of gangsta slang that dragged Jake and Trixie down got downplayed significantly and the show had a stronger balance of action and comedy around this point.
I thought I was the only one. I remember back when it was on, people were upset at the animation change. I preferred the new animation, and pretty much everything you mentioned too. I don't really consider the 1st season the same show. It changed and grew so much.
