I enjoyed the film, especially how they expanded on the Once-ler. By turning him from a faceless monster to a regular person, it was a nice way of showing that regular people are probably just as, if not more-so responsible for ruining the environment than any big, face-less corporation. The animation was really nicely done and Ted was also a likeable character.

I did have its share of problems, though. I thought the songs were really annoying, especially "How Can Bad I Be?" which is probably one of the worst songs I've heard in any animated film. A shame, considering I'm a big fan of John Powell's work. I also found the air tycoon to be an unnecessary villain. The struggle of planting the seed and the Thneedville citizens being so used to their plastic environment was enough of a conflict that he wasn't needed.

Does anybody know when the Dvd of the Lorax comes out? I heard its gonna be this summer right? Summer TBD. Hopefully June or July.

Sorry, but I have no clue how your reasoning has anything to do with the quality of the song lyrics and melodies. It's fine that you enjoyed the songs, but don't assume that everyone else has to agree in order to have a valid opinion.

As I watched this in the theater it made me feel like when I was a little kid, almost feeling embarrassed for sitting there and watching a movie that had bad songs, waiting for the music to be over so we could get back to the story. I was really surprised that so much great material was juxtaposed with material that felt sort of slapped on the last minute because they ran out of ideas or something (not saying that's the actual case, just that it's how it felt to me).

Preorders are up on Amazon, but no release date has been given yet. VideoETA estimates July.

I know its coming out in the summer I remember a source said Summer TBD and I know it'll be summer. Hopefully July-Besides that'll be so cool on my part since my birthday is in July.

And believe me I plan to watch that movie along with some other favorites on my birthday.

Anyway good news Universal Home Entertainment got my message on the lorax they said "Thanks for the input" so they'll take my message into thought and then they'll make a good decision on the release date for the movie. I requested for them to release the movie on june 19th or in july.

The Lorax's Official Release date is August 7th comes out the same day as the Cat In the Hat dvd

YESSS! I sadly didnt had the chance to see it in theaters and I would be home from my surgery by then, so it'll be good, watching it in my room/family room on demand.

My girlfriend treated me to this film for my birthday.

Beforehand, I revisited the 1972 TV special for the first time in years. That special did a fine job of interpreting the book, and like with most Seuss specials, added some additional elements that expanded upon the theme of the Once-ler's business very well.

The movie, while not really bad, did much of what I had predicted it would do. Namely in the fact that they made its environmental theme more predictable, rather than keep it open-ended as was intended to be. Humanizing the Once-ler was a logical choice, the "acquaintenceship" between Once-ler and the Lorax was interesting, but I felt the intrusion of Once-ler's business felt too condensed, to a rap song no less, while too much attention was given to Ted's involvement in a world where, beyond the corporate angle, seemed to be doing fine without a natural environment.
As far as art direction, the film was well-rendered, but barely looked like a Dr. Suess world, compared to Sony's rendering for Horton Hears a Who! Not a real problem, just a nitpick.

Also, since "Ted" was originally nameless, and given his love interest, one has to wonder if there's a bit of a Mary Sue going on with Suess' widow...

It wasn't a rap song at all. I HEARD rap once and that didn't sound like rap it was an awesome rocking and rolling song

And I find both the tv special, the book and the movie totally wicked.
