Do they even know what their own releases are? Wow, this actually reminds me in some odd way of one of their own shorts - "Pigs is Pigs."

Completely absent was anything on not only Generations, but also the World Cinema line, Disney Family Movies (the PPV channel), or Disney On-Line Movies (which they had been touting 2 years ago at the last Expo). That side of the booth was really just set up to promote and display the packaging for Pirates 4, Cars 2, Dumbo, Lion King (including the big 8 disc set that didn’t impress me unless this was just a mock up and not the actual final packaging) and even Spooky Buddies. Not even a word about Winnie The Pooh. So overall, like Disney’s current trend in home video itself, the Pavilion was nice presentation but lacking content.
Very disappointing. I think in the Home Entertainment market, Disney is slipping and it's almost like they don't care. You know, it kind of feels like they actually did a better job in this area back in the VHS era. The DVD era started out strong, but has grown weaker. And now Blu Ray is kind of a joke. It should be WAY better then it is. More extras, more titles available, good reasons for fans to abandon DVD and go Blu. Tech geeks will always switch to the newest format, but the rest of the general public is not as easy as that. There has to be good reasons and lots of them to switch.

Mean while, Warner is kicking butt in the Home Entertainment market. Quality extras, lots of titles to pick from and the Warner Archive, I can't stop praising those guys! WB has their faults to be sure, but compared to Disney, they are awesome!

What is interesting is yesterday DMCMbrAdvocate stated on Twitter that the DMC will be releasing Run Appaloosa Run and Call It Courage in October - but somehow this information either wasn't given to the cast members in the D23 booth last weekend, or they are just announcing now. If the latter is the case it makes me wonder why they didn't want to formally announce at the Expo when the fans were right there asking for information.
I really don't understand their marketing department at all.

And the more painful then funny joke is that Disney fired the Marvel Marketing Department. Hehehehum

I think, it should have been the other way!

HAHA! Me too!

SWillie! wrote:What I keep reading around the internet is that people are upset about the whole letting members in first, before people that had waited in line for hours.

But... this is the D23 Expo. Which, in my opinion, means that D23 members ought to come first. I mean, the expo is the biggest perk of being a member. So, I feel that the general admission people have no room to complain as it was their choice not to join D23.

Disclaimer: I didn't go to the Expo, but I am gladly a member a D23, and plan to renew every year for the foreseeable future.
I'm not a D23 members, but the biggest reason for that is the cost. But, I can see the argument one would have that after paying that kind of money to be a member, being first in line for D23 Expo events would seem like the least Disney could do. Still, I hope for the 2013 Expo, they rent more of the convention center. Based on what I have heard, that may just help and make for a lot more happy campers.

I enjoywed listing to Ricky Brigante on "Inside the Magic" about two weeks ago about the D23 Expo. He's talks about the presentation about the Disney Legends ceremony, the Disney Studios presentation on the upcoming films for the future and then the Marvel presentation talks about the history of Marvel and all that kinda stuff. Marvel is the company that made the Avengers, Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Spider-Man, X-Men and a few others. Me and my brother are a huge fan of Marvel but I cannot wait until the "Avengers" comes out next year. Plus not a whole lot more to mention. I'm not a D23 member, but I'm not going there in the next 2 years, I won't. I've seen videos of that on YouTube, so I'll have to share it on a later post.

Poody, I was on Tumblr, and a picture of you cosplaying Prince Edward with Giselle in her pink dress showed up on my dashboard! So, I reblogged it, of course. Was that from this year's D23?

This event sounds absolutely amazing. The chance to listen to the likes of Burny Mattinson, Don Hahn, Ron Clements, John Musker, Andreas Deja and Eric Goldberg, to name only a few, talk about animation at Disney would be incredible to experience, not to mention the opportunity to see a hint of the future at WDAS as well as some of the studio's abandoned projects.
