I don't think she really is. Ron Paul has been consistently ranking second, even first in some polls, among GOP candidates but the MSM has been hiding that fact (especially CNN and FOX News). I almost NEVER see him in poll results or discussed by the MSM, and yet he continually ranks higher then the crazy no-shot contenders they can't stop talking about. There are even polls showing that there are less Republicans against gay marriage then there are for it. The extreme right wing is becoming extinct but the MSM doesn't want people to find out.
pretty much this.

Since Osama's death by hands of men ordered by Obama, The crazy GOP guys have really been dwindling and losing frontal power and influence.

This is why I know that crazy bitch will never get into power.

An Iowa conservative Christian group last week essentially asked presidential contenders to say black families were better off during slavery.
That's right.

"THE FAMILY LEADER," a group run by failed GOP gubernatorial candidate Bob Vander Plaats, last week solicited GOP presidential candidates to sign a pledge attesting their support for traditional marriage, entitled "The Marriage Vow--A Declaration of Dependence upon Marriage and Family" as the first step in potentially earning their support for 2012.

Social conservatives Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum quickly signed on.
But after the public had a chance to examine the complete document, outrage ensued over multiple provisions, including one that reportedly stated the following:

Slavery had a disastrous impact on African-American families, yet sadly a child born into slavery in 1860 was more likely to be raised by his mother and father in a two-parent household than was an African-American baby born after the election of the USA's first African-American President.

Whoopi Goldberg had a cow yesterday on The View when she read that statement about slave families.

Rightfully So I would say....I'm sure a lot of people are very upset about the statement.

What does a cow has to do with slave families, Michele, or the GOP?

Was she making some sort of message with it?

Whoopi said (before the View was interrupted by Obaba telling America to eat its peas) that people should leave single parent families ALONE! And that no one knows how slave families lived! She was LIVID!

I agree with you that the mainstream media is biased and is doing a piss-poor job at representing all the candidates equally. I followed the Democratic primaries closely in 2008 and I clearly remember the debates: Hillary got 45 minutes to answer questions, Obama got 40 minutes and the only true left-wing candidate, Kucinich, got less than 5 minutes. So yes, I do believe the media play far too big a role in deciding who gets the nomination. But on the other hand you have to be realistic: Ron Paul did only poll in first or second in polls where the major contestants were not named. Sure, Paul got beat Herman Caine (who?), but Mitt Romney? No chance in hell. In most polls, Romney has consistently polled first and Bachmann second. (In some polls, Donald Trump even came in first.) Paul just takes too many extreme stands to ever win the nomination --let alone the presidency. He's too far out there. So it's not just a 'media conspiracy', you also have to realize most people are not for libertarian policies.

Marcus Bachmann's clinic received $161,000 in state and federal funding to 'cure' gays.

‘God Has Created You for Heterosexuality’: Clinics Owned by Michele Bachmann’s Husband Practice Ex-Gay Therapy

[...]

As Republican presidential contender Michele Bachmann has surged in the polls, the spotlight has turned on her husband and main political adviser, Marcus Bachmann, who has a PhD in clinical psychology and owns two Christian counseling centers in Minnesota. There has been a great deal of speculation that his clinics, which have received $161,000 in state and federal funding, try to cure homosexuality—and the chatter has only grown louder since his comments likening gays to “barbarians” who “need to be educated” and “disciplined” surfaced in the blogosphere last week. Marcus Bachmann has denied these allegations. “That’s a false statement,” he replied when the Minneapolis City Pages asked if his clinic tried to cure gays. And until now there was no firm evidence to back these allegations up. But information obtained by The Nation suggests that Bachmann & Associates therapists do, in fact, try to change sexual orientation. It also sheds new light on the Bachmanns’ embrace of the controversial ex-gay movement and related psychological approaches, which portray homosexuality as a disease to be rooted out.

Some of the most potent material was provided by Truth Wins Out, a gay rights group that opposes the ex-gay movement. In late June, a Truth Wins Out activist named John Becker donned two hidden cameras—one embedded in a wristwatch—and attended five treatment sessions at Bachmann’s Lake Elmo clinic. Becker, who is openly gay, presented himself as a committed Christian who was struggling with homosexuality. The video he collected seems to confirm Ramirez’s allegations that staff members at Bachmann & Associates try to change sexual orientation. Becker’s therapist (another of Marcus Bachmann’s employees) repeatedly assured him that homosexuality could be overcome. “At the core value…in terms of how God created us, we’re all heterosexual,” he explained, according to the footage. “God has created you for heterosexuality.” The therapist also mined Becker’s personal history for traumatic experiences that might have turned him gay. To curb Becker’s gay impulses, the therapist urged him to pray and read Scripture and suggested Becker “develop” his masculinity. He also encouraged him to find a “heterosexual guy” to act as an AA-type sponsor. Later, he referred Becker to Outpost Ministries, a church that helps “the sexually and relationally broken”—in other words, homosexuals—“find healing and restoration through relationship with Jesus Christ.”

Neither Britain nor Australia has a major party quite as bonkers as the Republicans, but believe me, this doesn't make a two party system much better. It's fine when a candidate is intelligent and articulate, but when both major candidates are complete fools, then the only real option voters have is to vote for a respectable minor party, and hope that there's a groundswell towards them.

I recall prime-minister Gillard having two sway two small parties in order to keep on governing after the last elections. Is that correct?

Sort of. Neither party won the required number of seats, so six crossbenchers were called upon to make the decision. It was the first hung parliament Australia has had since 1940.

Michele Bachmann's Church Says the Pope Is the Antichrist
JUL 13 2011, 4:25 PM ET323
The Iowa front-runner for the GOP nomination was a longstanding member of a strict Lutheran synod with controversial views of Catholicism

Michele Bachmann is practically synonymous with political controversy, and if the 2008 presidential election is any guide, the conservative Lutheran church she belonged to for many years is likely to add another chapter due to the nature of its beliefs--such as its assertion, explained and footnoted on this website, that the Roman Catholic Pope is the Antichrist.

Bachmann was a longtime member of the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stillwater, Minn., which belongs to the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), a council of churches founded in 1850 that today comprises about 400,000 people. WELS is the most conservative of the major Lutheran church organizations, known for its strict adherence to the writings of Martin Luther, the German theologian who broke with the Catholic Church and launched the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century. This includes endorsing Luther's statements about the papacy. From the WELS "Doctrinal Statement on the Antichrist": Since Scripture teaches that the Antichrist would be revealed and gives the marks by which the Antichrist is to be recognized, and since this prophecy has been clearly fulfilled in the history and development of the Roman Papacy, it is Scripture which reveals that the Papacy is the Antichrist.

Yeah, but she apparently left this church, so the article really has nothing to do with supporting her lunacy.

By the way, despite housing a particularly nutty church, Stillwater, MN is a lovely town.
