Gorgeous design and sumptious animation. CG movies are looking better and better. Wish I could've seen Jack Frost in motion.

Looks excellent! As a bonafide holiday nut, I'm psyched! I will say that I do not LOVE all the design aspects of the characters though. There is an aspect of their design that I don't think works as well in computer animation as it does with traditional. For an easy example, the lack of detail in Santa's arms. I mean, the lack of definition (wrists, texture and such), doesn't translate well to CGI for me. At least, not in this. Perhaps it hasn't bothered me as much in other films, I don't know.

I'm not sure why, but I was almost expecting something of a pop culture reference-infested thing to this. Hopefully, that won't be the case here.

A good deal of people over at Cartoon Brew keep saying that the film is terribly designed and animated. I see nothing wrong with the animation.

DreamWorks has pretty much cut out their pop culture-referencing style, ever since How to Train Your Dragon. Even Shrek Forever After and Puss in Boots were shockingly light in that department.

Plus, unless I'm wrong, their films seem a bit more serious lately. Like, How To Train Your Dragon was more dramatic than hilarious or Kung Fu Panda 2 was darker/more serious/less humorous than the first one.

If DreamWorks keep up the good work, they may soon become my second favourite animation studio, after Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Haha, it’s as if Dreamworks and Disney have switched marketing teams. I feel it looks great and it even gave me goosebumps a couple of times (mostly due to the sandman). I’m cautiously optimistic about this one.

Could be a great year for animation, with The Secret World of Arrietty, The Pirates! Band of Misfits, Hotel Transylvania, Rise of the Guardians, Wreck-It Ralph, Frankenweenie, ParaNorman, and Brave. Nice to have some originality after all the damn sequels last year.

Also, notice anything? 3 stop-motion animated films in one year, that has to be a record. Although, I’m a little perturbed that there is only one hand-drawn film (out of Japan from last year).

Those posters are stunningly beautiful, though a little too photorealistic to my taste. I'm always worrying that mainstream animation will become indistinguishable from live-action in terms of lighting and textures.

I pray Disney's Paperman will bring about a revolution, which even non-Disney studios like DreamWorks will pick up and develop.

I really like the visuals for this film. Jack Frost has the best animation and the most appealing design ever for a DreamWorks CG human character.

This film could be a big threat to Wrech it Ralph! Will be intresting to see how these movies do at the Boxoffice this November! Also, when Disney releases Frozen in Nov. 2013, DreamWorks is suppose to release Me & my Shadow! That movie is suppose to have 2D & CGI animation!

It's a stupid move to have these two films pit against each other. There will be losses on both sides. One of the two should change dates.

Typical Disney/DreamWork rivalry! Last month Madagascar 3 opened 2 weeks ahead of Pixar's Brave, June 8 to June 22. Madagascar 3 has grossed nearly $440mil worldwide, while Brave has grossed $181mil so far. Though that's a threequel against an original film. Seems to me with Guardians being the more traditional holiday film, it could hurt Ralph's repeat showings.

Brave still has plenty of international markets to open in, so its theatrical run is far from over. The way it's performing domestically, I can see Brave topping Madagascar in North America. So, despite opening in the same month, both should pass $200 million domestically.

So, I think both Wreck-It Ralph and Rise of the Guardians will do fine. And even though it opens a little later, Guardians only has a month to perform well, since Christmas-related movies immediately lose their business as soon as the New Year begins.
