I believe it has to do more with the fact that people are sick of song contest after song contest. That's exactly why NBC shoved The Voice out right before The X Factor came in, so TXF would feel like overkill.

With Fox obligated to cover the ACLS Baseball Championships and then the World Series this year, I think that the scheduling for "The X Factor" has a lot to do with the low ratings.

Also with the weather problems they have been experiencing this past week, there have been quite a few changes in the Fox television lineup.

Only two more weeks and Baseball season will be over and our mid-week shows will be back on a regular schedule.

I also think that they way "The Voice" did their audition shows was much better and more inviting than having to sit for two hours watching non-talented people embarrass themselves on national television. Simon Cowell might think about that if there is a second season.

Personally I am looking forward to January when "The Voice" returns, along with season eleven of "American Idol".

Good point. With me, though I may be in the minority, I'm getting worn out with all these shows primarily focusing on solo acts. I love groups and find the X factor a refreshing alternative for the reason that they actually have groups. I listen to more groups than solo acts.

Good point Iceflash!!!!

That's why I watch "The Sing Off" on NBC. That show is all about groups and what a talented bunch they have this year.

You never complain when American Idol has 4 to 6 weeks of talentless auditions... Personally, I liked the fact that those audition episodes were over in 2 weeks.

You're right about the group thing, Iceflash. I do think that's a refreshing change with this show.

I'm just hoping the ratings will pick up once they get to the live shows. I know I don't pay much attention to these types of shows until they get to that stage of the competition, so maybe others do the same. I know American Idol was virtually unknown the first season, and then made a big splash during the second year it was on. I mean, I'm not really worried about the future of this show, because I'm sure it'll stay on--only I'm sure the budget will be cut down enormously. I'm just hoping they find somebody I like to give that 5-record deal to, so at least something good will come out of this.

Btw, I thought it was a shame Mariah wasn't able to make it last night. She's a diva, yes, but I enjoy her.

Anyone watching X-Factor tonight on Fox?? It started at 7 pm and then there is another show Tuesday night at 7 pm.

World Series comes on Wednesday and Thursday and wipes out any further installments this week.

Special night for "The X Factor" tonight (Tuesday, because of the World Series starting tomorrow) as they cut down the field to the Final Four for each category and get ready for the "live" shows that come up next.

Tonight's show so far is really good and heart-breaking at the same time. I don't agree with some of the decisions, but I don't make the big bucks that these judges do, so I can only hope that they have made the correct decisions.

I believe Paula made a lot of bad decisions in her category. Everyone else was pretty good except for Simon insanely deciding to keep Rachel Crow (the Raven Symone clone) and let Melanie Amaro go. I'm guessing he only did that because he knew the other judges would be in an uproar and then he'd get 5 contestants.

I honestly think that Rachel Crowe has more going for her than Melanie Amaro did. Rachel seems to be very relaxed in front of an audience and her audition proved that.

I agree with you about Paula's choices, I really think that she is in a lot of trouble with who she has representing her.

Time will only tell, as we now get down to the "live" shows and America gets to vote.

So guys what were the life shows like (will be watching tomorrow when they air other here!)

I am also curios about the live shows. I have some questions for you Americans :P

1. What is the Fashion like between Nicole and Paula (During the Live Shows in the U.K this is a massive ratings boost,
Below are Kelly and Tulisa's outfits from this weeks show!
ImageImageImageImage

2. Is there any one air friction between the judges. (Simon has been a sly one over here and has done many tricks to boost ratings, E.g Switching seats, speculating an argument between judges and Disputes between contestants life on air)
Image
Kelly and Tulisa wouldn't look at each other the whole night!

3. What do Americans think of Steve Jones? He wasn't really a big name over here so it was a surprise he got the job. Is it true Simon is replacing him?

4. Has X Factor boosted Cheryl's profile in the states?

I think the best last night were Stacey Davis, the Stereo Hogzz (wow, I wish they had a different name), and Rachel Crow (I’m surprised, too).

Drew was as good as usual, but I thought that was a bad choice for her--considering it’s a dance song. I just hope they don’t typecast her as a folksy singer, even though her voice is similar to Sarah McLachlan; I like her better when she does pop. Josh had “Forever Young” and Melanie Amaro had a predictable Houston song--a lot of people thought they were incredible, and I am one of their fans, but I wasn’t crazy about either of those songs for them.

I’m really glad Nicole finally x-ed out Dexter (and I Kissed A Girl? What?), and Simon got rid of the two weak girls. I checked out the single Simone Battle pimped during her elimination--“He Likes Boys”--I actually like it okay for a midtempo pop song.

DisneyDude2010, I haven't paid attention to Paula's and Nicole's fashion, but:

2. Simon was dumping on most of the other judges throughout the show at one point or another. Of course, when it came to his turn, they were absolutely awful to him over Simone and Tiah (who they all hated in previous rounds). Paula probably would've made more snide comments, but Nicole in particular was being really horrible.

3. I don't think Steve Jobs has made much impression on general audiences. He's kind of in the background, although people have complained about his British accent being bad for a host on American TV. Nicole was a host prior to Cheryl Coles being booted, and I've heard they're looking to hire a woman to take her place (rumors have included Cat Deeley and Kim Kardashian--yes, you read that right...). I don't think he's being replaced.

4. Cheryl has definitely been popular with critics. They liked her much more than Nicole Scherzinger, so I think that's why she's received praise. I read that she was offered $ to come back, but I believe it was already at Judge's Houses at that point. Maybe they'll get her back for next season (if she agrees).

Had to wait until I had my Home Theater Surround system checked out by the Geek Squad from Best Buy, and found that it is in perfect condition.

Was watching my DVR recording of "The X Factor" again, because the first time through I had such a bad echo in it, that I thought my system was having a problem. Found out it is Fox or at least "The X Factor" sound man that is putting a horrible echo in the contestants performance. It is so bad at times that you can't understand the words, or what is going on. The 14-year-old rapper "Astro" was so overly echoed that I didn't hardly understand anything he was talking about, except when mentioned L.A. Reid's name and they did the "Jump" with the whole audience.

I am hoping that Fox gets the sound problem straightened out before we get to the crunch time in the finals. I totally agreed with all of the choices of judges paring down the contestants to the Final 12.

This week's show was absolutely fabulous. All the contestants were at the top of their game and all seemed to have picked the right song and performed flawlessly.

The judges were all about how good their respective groups were. LA Reid thought his guys did the best, but Nicole Scherzinger thought her over 30 bunch were on top of their game. Paula was encouraged by how her groups performed and Simon.........well, Simon was Simon, he thought his girls all had the best performances of the night.

The results show was a different story on Thursday. The way "The X Factor" results work is that the two bottom acts have to perform against each other for a place in the next round.

This week the two bottom contestants were from Paula Abdul's groups - The Stereo Hoggs and inTENsity were the bottom two and when all the dust cleared it was inTENsity that was sent packing.

More than ever, I would say, our votes are counting for the person or groups we want to see back the next week. With all the different ways you can vote, there is no good excuse for not voting, except you aren't watching the show.

So, next week we have the Top 11 with Paula Abdul only represented by two of her groups.

Simon also announced Wednesday night that the show has been picked up for a second season, which brought cheers from everyone including Steve Jones, who I have never heard of, and really think he is the weak link on the show. Hope they find someone else next year.

I'm so glad Melanie won this show. The first girl to win one of these talent competitions since 2007 with Jordin Sparks. I can't see her being huge like Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson, but I hope she has some moderate success. It all depends on the music they get for her.

I really hope Nicole is gone next season.

I really hope that Steve Jones or whatever his name is (the host) is gone next year. He was so annoying by talking over the judges trying to keep the show on time, and he can't even host a show properly. They need someone like Ryan Seacrest or Nick Cannon to host this show, someone who doesn't try to overshadow the judges and the contestants.

Nicole Scherzinger was an okay judge and mentor, but she got too involved with her team and couldn't make fair judgements. Hope that Simon gets things straightened out for next season.

And I think there is room for four talent shows - America' Got Talent, The Voice, American Idol and The "X" Factor. Bring 'em all on and it should be a great 2012.

(OK well this isn't recently news, but just adding it to the forum)
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/HyloewHTRVA" frameborder="0"></iframe>

Britney and Demi seem to bring a fresh new feel to the panel and the panel's chemistry is great according to sources! Brit' though has been causing some controversy by apparently "walking off" set during filming. Also Demi (as much as i love her) has been looking riduclous during filming, very unflattering outfits...
Also Simon Cowell was Ill during the Kansas Auditions, So Veteran UK Judge Louis covered him for the 2 days of auditions :)

So what's happened to Steve Jones, Paula and Nicole?
Well....
Steve Jones To Host Entertainment Tonight
Steve Jones is to become a permanent host on 'Entertainment Tonight'. The Welsh TV star is reportedly being lined up to replace Mark Steines on the US show after hosting the first American series of 'The X Factor' last year.

Nicole Scherzinger Confirmed For The X Factor (UK)
"I'm so excited to join the UK X Factor family. It's where I got my start, so it feels great to come full circle. I can't wait to see what talent the UK has to offer and to help inspire and bring out the best in these artists."

And for Paula? Well, no announcements yet.

I am really pleased for both Nicole and Steve. Nicole was received alot better than Kelly Rowland. And during the time of former Judge Danni Minogue's pregnancy, Nicole covered and was a huge success, Also Nicole has had higher charting singles in the UK than the US. I think the move will be better for Nicole as a whole.
Also Nicole has already started Series 9 of the UK Version, but was only a "Guest Judge" as producers considered their options and the return of Dannii Minogue.

I've only seen Demi at two of the auditions so far. I forget where the first one was, but I thought she looked fine.

She did look a little peculiar at the Kansas auditions though. I'm not crazy on her straight blonde hair, especially compared to her current skin tone, and her dress was too long and dull for my liking.

I think the panel will be a lot better this year. I believe Britney and Demi have a lot of chemistry with Simon and LA. I know people are going on and on about how Britney walks off stage, but it was a part of her contract and these are just the auditions.

I feel sorry for Paula, but as far as Nicole Scherzinger: I don't care if she's on the UK version as long as she's never on the US version--and, preferrably, US television in general--again. Couldn't stand her.

Well I like Demi's look from earlier today.

It's a cute dress and I actually really like her pink highlights. Plus, her ass.
