To me, "The Princess and the Frog" is not underrated...only in this forum for some reason. I saw "Tangled" in theaters 10 times (don't judge), mostly because it was for a year long project, and the different people I took to see it with me each time all said they liked "Princess and the Frog" better, no joke. While on this forum, most posters thought "Tangled" was better. I like them both equally.

I think anything made before 1989 is incredibly underrated by the general public, or at least people of my generation. Anything before "The Little Mermaid" is seen as old and boring unfortunately.

I agree, tsom. It amazes me the number of people who think the pre-Little Mermaid films are overrated and boring.

Lilo & Stitch - I don't know why but the IMDB rating just keeps dropping while the rating for other DACs are going up. Seriously, WTF?

I always thought that Sleeping Beauty was underrated. Whenever I've talked to someone about it they either say "which one was that again?" or "I don't even remember that one". Although the consensus on UD would say otherwise.

It seems like there aren't a lot of Disney fans where I'm from.. they're hiding. My friends say they love Disney yet never buy any DVDs/blu-rays & then they lose their shyt when they see my collection lol

Here are the three most underrated IMHO:

The Rescuers - It manages to be both cute, and emotionally powerful. I don't care for the sequel though (and not because of how Australia is portrayed, so don't get any ideas :P )

The Great Mouse Detective - It will be in my top ten when I get round to putting one in order  How it isn't better known is beyond me. I find it an enjoyable caper.

Lilo & Stitch - It has a compelling story, and I love the Hawaiian setting. It's one of my favorites :)

Sleeping Beauty is incredibly overrated on this forum and among Disney fanatics and historians. But I find that the general public just don't care for it. Almost everyone I talk to about this movie either think it's boring, or for those who've never seen it, they just don't care to or think all it's all about Aurora sleeping. Haha. But there are three people I know that love it.

They just see the quality in it. And, why wouldn't an intelligent person trust a fan / historian over some random dope on the street who cares less about what Disney does best?

L7 said it best: "the masses are asses." Screw what they think.

I would also add Lilo & Stitch to my list of underrated Disney films. Probably one of the best DACs to come out in the last 10 years. It introduced probably one of my favorite (new) Disney characters.
