Yeah but he means that they aren't based on the seven dwarfs from Snow White. So, they don't really ruin the characters.
REALLY hope you're right! But, I read that this (The TV show) is what the 7 Dwarves (DISNEY 7 DWARVES) did b4 Snow White happened.
Right, but it's not supposed to be the same universe of characters, obviously. It's a whole different Snow White world than Walt's Snow White.
Unlike a show like Jake and Neverland Pirates, in which Captain Hook and Smee are supposed to be the same characters from Peter Pan, these dwarves are a whole new take on the characters. So like you said, it will be the story of what happened with the dwarfs before Snow White, but it isn't the Doc, Grumpy, and Dopey that are portrayed in the film.

Looks awful! What are Disney thinking...

Do they really think kids can't appreciate the way the characters looked before?
I mean, Snow White (and most Disney movies) remain popular for decades for a reason: the character design/appeal is timeless - I'm sure many of today's 2 through 7 year old group have seen the original Snow White and loved the original dwarfs.
To change it seems... GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Just because I feel like wasting my time instead of doing something productive, I'm going to try and guess the dwarfs!
From left to right: Bashful, Sleepy, Dopey, Happy, Grumpy, Doc, and Sneezy

Those Dwarfs would give me nightmares when I was a kid.

What is with this new fade for Disney shows based off animated movies to look like Spongebob Squarepants?
I yearn for the days of the Aladdin, the Little Mermaid and New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh shows.

Doesn't look like Spongebob, more like Johnny Test or Almost Naked Animals.

Makes sense, but still bad. It'll confuse the kids.

So Dopey was the tallest dwarf at some point??? *head meets desk*
Are you kiddin me??? really now?? that's so not what I was expecting at all, I at least expected the same style as Never Land Pirates

Nearly gagged at the image *ugh* what did they do... at least Eisner had the utmost respect to not bring Snow White/Pinocchio/Bambi to tv, this is a strike against Bob Iger for me.
Here's the real 7 Dwarfs
I agree with everybody bout usin the dwarfs orignal design for 7Ds, it be much classier and easier to take the series semi serious.

The different style makes it seem like they are not the original Walt Disney dwarfs, so I approve of them using different designs.
Just not this horrible syle they chose!
But of course, I don't approve of them doing this show in the first place.

Apparently, Disney was planning a "Seven Dwarfs" project a long time ago. Look what I've found in an old article:
"Disney Fairies" Franchise Gets Ready to Take Flight
http://jimhillmedia.com/editor_in_chief ... /2616.aspx
29 May 2006
"What sort of brands?," you ask. Well, among the concepts that DCP is currently kicking around are:
•Disney Bunnies
•Disney Dwarves
•Disney Horses
•Disney Mermaids
•Disney Trains
As for "Disney Dwarves" … While touring the Frank Wells building back in March, I actually came across a beat board for the direct-to-DVD film that would be used to launch this new franchise. It actually proposed creating a "Lord of the Rings" -like back story for the world of the Seven Dwarfs. So that - in a prequel to Disney's "Snow White" - we'd actually learn how these seven characters became friends and eventually came to live together.
Now I know that this particular concept may sound like heresy to all you Disney purists out there. But having seen some of the "Disney Dwarves" concept art as well as read through the beat board (Which proposed some rather unique ideas like having Dopey being abandoned as a baby and then being raised by humans) … I have to say that this project actually has some real potential. Which is why - in spite of John Lasseter's edict that WDFA will produce no more unnecessary sequels - that I'm kind of hoping that Disney Toon Studios continues working on "Disney Dwarves." To see if something interesting can come out of this originated-by-Disney-Consumer-Products production.

Hence my disappointment when I found out this was about the Seven Dwarfs.
And no, this is nothing like the 1980's/1990's Disney Afternoon shows. And yes, those shows did have good animation. And yes, something like 'Fish Hooks' would have Walt turn in his refrigerator.

I agree with you Enigma, if that's dopey then the show is hopeless *ugh*
Course production notes said that Dopey's personality was modeled after Harpo Marx, some Chaplin and Laurel/Hardy.

Unbelieveable. This cannot have any connection to the original movie whatsoever. It just can't.

The silver lining to this is..........people wont take the movie any less seriously than they do now.
