It's taking me a while to process all this so I'm sort of at a loss for words right now. So before I get into anything else, thanks again!

The ceremony itself went well, even if I got a little giggly.

We had a blast at Disneyland. We didn't end up staying for the Halloween party because we were just too exhausted from not only the day before, but the four-hour drive we had that morning. Still, the park wasn't crowded so the lines were pretty short, and the weather was absolutely perfect. The Halloween decorations were a lot of fun too. I got to watch Captain EO for the first time since 1988! We hit Universal Studios the next day and went back to Anaheim for a pirate dinner show. The yellow pirate had me fetch and raise a flag. After that we went to visit some family that was unable to make the wedding.

However, I received some personal family news that caught me off-guard and the past few days have been incredibly rough because of it. Let me just say that it's really difficult to be there for people when you live so far away. And I don't mean to end this on a low note, but it's crazy how the extreme highs and lows can get stacked together like this, and how quickly it can make you appreciate what you have in life. I'm taking things one day at a time and am hoping for the best.

Sorry to hear that, but I too have experienced that. That's why, I admit, that whenever I experience something amazing I pray that something bad doesn't follow it, or if something bad happens I look forward to something great.

I may be being silly, but I understand what it feels to experience the very highs and lows.

But regardless, I am very happy to know that you had an amazing time with your new husband! Look at that incident as one of the many things you will experience in your new married life.

And just in case, what I mean is that nothing will be easy, but can be fought back with love, happiness, and perseverance.

Sometimes things have weird timing. Right before my sister's wedding and my son's baptism (they were held the same weekend) the priest had a family emergency and had to go to Ireland so we had another priest step in and then the morning of her wedding we got news that my grandmother out of state died. Of course we were all upset and she felt weird going on a honeymoon after all that but we told her to go along with her plans. I tried to look on the bright side and said that maybe that was the only way for my grandma to be at the wedding, like she was looking over. My cousin said he saw something like an angel at the church but he didn't know my grandma (different side of the family) and didn't even hear about the death until later. I like to think that means something.

Anyway, whatever the situation is... I hope things get better. Wishing you the best. And I think you have the right attitude to focus on the positive and take it one day at a time.

Well, I'm still happy you finally had the wedding! It's just that a really great thing happened while a bad thing happened. The bad thing cannot overcome the good thing.

So, questions: Did your wedding dress and hair look just like the picture you drew? What about your hubby's tux? Did you go barefoot? LOL

And then, how long were you in Disney? And what was the wedding date, I can't find it...

I found shoes at the last minute. Five bucks at Wal-mart, lol! We added some flowers to them and they worked perfectly. BTW, this is the drawing I made for our invitations:



I was so happy with how the invitations themselves turned out and even got a few compliments on them from the family, who couldn't tell we printed them ourselves at home.

Although it's still all chibi-fied, it's a lot more realistic than the angel and devil pic I did (even if they both suit us). My dress looked a lot like that although it didn't have a floral print on the main fabric (there was a design on the lace instead), and the flowers looked exactly like that since I incorporated actual photos into the piece. Not only did my mother-in-law make the dress (which she based off this drawing), she also sculpted each individual flower used in the bouquet. My hair was partially up but doesn't look much different from here. And I wore amethyst jewelry since it's my birthstone and favorite color.

The wedding was the day before Halloween. We only managed to spend one day at Disneyland, but we go often enough that I didn't feel I missed out on anything.

I mentioned in my last post that there have been some highs and lows. I wasn't sure if it was really appropriate for me to bring up some of it at the time, but immediately before the wedding I received news that my grandma, aunt, and uncle wouldn't be able to make the wedding as planned since my uncle was sick. I soon found out he had liver cancer. So while we were in Cali for the honeymoon, we set a day aside to stop and visit. I gave them some photos, talked about family and old times, and left with hugs and tears.

He passed away this weekend.

It's been hard. He helped us out so much when my mom was dying with cancer, and to know he had to go through a similar hell himself . . .

I'm all out of sorts right now; the past couple of weeks have already been very confusing for me. Between that news and talking to my brother for the first time in ages . . . well, he couldn't make the wedding either. In fact, not one person I invited was able to make it. Apparently he and his wife disagreed on whether or not they should make the trip, and she told him to go without her.

Instead of doing that, he moved out.

They were already having problems of course, but I guess that was the straw that broke the camel's back. So while I'm not blaming myself or anything (it would be silly to), I feel kinda weird about knowing the circumstances, plus I know his kids are especially hurting over the thought of a possible divorce. I mentioned I hadn't talked to him in ages . . . there's some baggage and it's complicated. I don't want any judgments made on either of them, but the drama has gone on between us for years and I'm hoping it can finally be over soon. My aunt asked me to call him today to let him know about our uncle, and while on the phone with him just a few moments ago I found out one of our cousins on the other side of the family passed away this past weekend as well, also from cancer.

Life's too short. I know we'll all get through this, and I feel lucky to have Rey here with me. But if I seem out of it lately, you'll know why . . .

*Hug* That's such a bittersweet story, EW. Wow. I will keep your family in my prayers- that's such a hard thing to go through times 3. At least you and your brother have been in contact- even with everything else going on, that has to be a really good thing. Hang in there, girl.

Wow, I didn't expect you to tell us what it was that happened, but thanks for letting us know the important things going on in your life.

I'm so sorry about your losses, that's so sad, especially because it happened so near a happy big step.

But, like Amy said, at least you are talking to your brother now, and actually, him moving away from his troublesome marriage and your family drama ending could be very good things. And also, now you're married, and have Rey!

I LOVE YOUR DRESS! That is so great, sophisticated, unique, classic, renaissance-like (the sleeves) and lovely! And I like these more realistic versions of you, I really do. Are we going to see any photo? We don't need to see any that are private, but...we wanna see some!

Very sorry to hear about your uncle and cousin, enigma. My condoleances. And then the family drama... That's really heavy all at the same time.

Good thoughts going your direction. You'll be alright eventually, and maybe have a better relationship with your brother as a result of it.
