I never said I was against homosexuality. If I ever implied that or any stereotyping in any post of mine, I apologize. Sometimes, I wasnt sure and Im still not. I might be bi, for all I know. IDK

EDIT: I edited the title and TP so as to sound less homophobic or anti-autism(I'm autistic, remember). The original title was there because the thought was spur-of-the-moment and I wanted it to be intriguing.

I never said I was against homosexuality.

I wasn't implying that. I was refering to the Elton John post where you complained I was being "uncool." I just put things into perspective. Saying maybe I'm picky but that there are worse things to complain about than me.

Well, that just leaves me with one thing to say: you're not going to get every single UD'er who fits that description to answer you. And even then, no one is treating this like it's intriguing. Even Goliath is kinda striking out against the gay themed threads. This is not bringing out the best in anyone.

I'm one of the most active members of those threads, frequently bringing in news about gay rights all over the world. (Which is ironic, since I'm not gay myself.)

ajmrowland, its not worth the argument. Continue your thread how you see fit. Some people just like to hear themselves talk/see themselves type. I think this thread shows a majority of the participants see no problem with your "social study". Don't let others make you feel like you did wrong, when you haven't. Carry on.

According to the Christian religion, it is a sin, at least based on the Old Testament. Many of the laws from the Old Testament have been brought into the Christian religion, barring stuff like animal sacrifices, eating unclean meat, and specific worship practices that are part of the Jewish religion but not the Christian religion.

That being said, however, there are not degrees of sin. A little white lie, or someone stealing 10 cents from their boss's drawer at work are just as great or just as minute sins as having sex (gay or straight) outside of marriage, murder, or anything else. Every person is born a sinner, and they commit sins eveyr day. God can't stand the sight of any sin, and it (and the sinner) is banished from His presence. However, Jesus came as the Son of God and therefore sinless, to be sacrificed for our sins past, present and future, if you accept Him into your heart.

Those "sticking your finger with a pin" (you know the word I mean) people at the Westboro "church" are sinning every time they go do one of their protests, and they certainly aren't doing the Work of God. It's similar to someone who shoots an abortionist. I believe that abortion is murder (particularly at certain points in the development), but the shooter is committing murder as well. Abortion is another thread, though (and one I probably won't get involved in.)

If someone is gay, and becomes a Christian, whether their being gay is a sin or not is between them and God. It's not my business. There are some parts of the Christian religion that believe you have to atone for every sin, or that you fall out of Christianity if you sin, and you have to accept Christ again, personally I believe "once saved, always saved."

For the record, I am for equal rights for all, whether gay, straight, white, black, etc. The situation in "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry" should not have happened. If a man (gay or straight) wants a friend to provide for his children in the event of the man's death, then there should be provisions for that. Healthcare benefits should be provided for a person and their opposite sex or same sex partner (married or not), and any dependent children in the same household. Heck, I'd even say two straight roommates should get the same consideration, if they pay the premiums.

A gay man should be allowed to visit a dying partner, even though the hospital says "Family Only." If they've lived together the same length of time the law allows for common-law marriages, they should inherit assets without a will the same as a common-law spouse of the opposite sex.

I think that's about all I was going to say on the subject, sorry for derailing the thread!

BTW, over the years at UD, I have seen a lot more vitriol spewed at forum members who are conservative, Republican and/or Christian than I have seen directed at gays, or any other minority on here combined. Some things would even come under the heading of personal attacks, IMHO. - Person A. "I'm a Republican" - Person B. "Anyone who votes Republican is a feeble-minded moron!"

There's another thing about Christianity: overusing the word "sin", but Im not gonna bring up religious (insert noun here).

Either you flat-out didn't read my response to this or you're flat out saying those threads are stupid. Yes, they're very akin to "Bring On the Babble" but only at Volume 3. The fact is, they have a purpose. A meaning. A point. And they're not stupid. Therefore it's not a "Good Point" (Sorry, littlefuzzy) at all.

Well... I do owe you an apology. I'm only frustrated because everyone has to fight me on everything. Then I quickly find out people aren't championing this thread, they're attacking of gay-themed threads. Or trying to reduce their importance. But that's not why I'm apologizing to you. It's because I recognize your intention was good though the means were wasteful. And because you don't deserve a thread you make to be derailed by all this. In this case, there was no way it could be helped. I didn't even realize how much resentment there was over the gay threads. I just thought the first post was silly.

Any number of things could have been done instead. For one, you could have broadened the scope of questions. Two, you could have posted this (though I admit- how would you have known about? You probably wouldn't have) in the Get to Know Each Other ( http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... hp?t=14831 ) thread (another reason search sucks: it took me 5 minutes to freaking find it!).

Well, that is pretty much the core of Christianity (at least most Protestant Christianity, I don't know about Catholicism, etc.)
A. Every human is a sinner, from birth (passed down from the father's sins, which is why Jesus came from Immaculate Conception (no human father.)
B. God hates sin, and won't allow it in his presence (Heaven.)
C. Jesus died to wash away or cover the sins of every human that accepts Him.


I'm not trying to proselytize here, just explaining why the word "sin" is used by Christians. Of course, as I explained in the earlier post, someone constantly throwing around stuff like "all u gays r gonna burn in hell 'cause being gay is a SSSIIINNN!!!" is being hypocritical at best, since the person saying that is a sinner like everyone else, not helping to spread the love of Christ, and possibly not even a Christian themselves, even if they think they are because they go to church every now and then.

I think of all the dogs and cats who get dumped when someone has a baby too, when those animals would actually help the baby NOT get sick. Even if you don't take your baby out, dogs and cats bring pollen and other outside things inside on their coats, exposing us to them, early exposure to these things can help curb allergic or serious reactions later in life.

I think when we see the rise in illnesses and allergies we need to look at how our culture has changed. 20 years ago, you didn't see this going on. Not to such a high degree. 20 years ago, technology was not where it is now. Technology is keeping people inside. Give your kid a Leapster instead of a swing set and sandbox sort of thing. We as a culture was germaphobic. All this heavy talk about frequent hand washing, hand sanitizers, H1N1, swine flu, etc. Maybe if people got out in the world more, got back to nature, we wouldn't be having these problems. Take a nature walk once a week. Go horseback riding. Kayaking or canoeing. Expose yourself to the outdoors, its the healthiest thing you can do for yourself.

Anyone can see you poured your heart and soul out in this reply. And yes, that is a serious thing that deserves serious attention. I'm sorry it had to happen in a thread I was in if my being here bothers you. But you could have decided to post that in any thread. Not to mention - you started out your first serious reply by responding to Prudence's objection to this thread when she happens to agree with me.

And since you just had to comment back there on people objecting to this thread, you'll note - ajmrowland accepted my apology.
