Seriously, I should just design Blu-ray covers.

OMG! Did you make that SpringHeelJack?

I take it that picture of Julie is from
Star!?
Also, speaking of how the cover resembles a Disney movie, it seems Fox is pushing their marketing of this movie in that direction seeing as they are also releasing the Blu Ray combo in DVD and BD packaging.
Oh, wait, nevermind, this edition of TSOM is nothing like a Disney release! This DVD/BD will actually have substantial bonus features in addition to the almighty slipcover! There, now they're nothing alike!

Haha, I don't honestly know what it was from. I think it was just a photoshoot because I was just googling images. I didn't even think to look for one from "Star." I was going to screencap the shot of her hitting the high note for the first time in "Victor/Victoria," but... I'm a lazy lazy man.

That hairdo is definitely from "Star!". It's one of my personal favourite Julie movies. Great job!

I'm actually getting bored with Fox's constantly using the same cover image for most of the "Sound of Music" releases over the last few years. Always of Julie, arms outstretched, mid-"windmill twirl". Why not revert to the classic poster art with Julie carrying the bag and guitar? It's not quite as same-y...
Or better yet, the lovely illustration from the Rodgers & Hammerstein "Silver Edition", circa. the early 1990's...

I don't like how the press-release is stating that this is the first home video release of the documentary hosted by Mary Martin. I'm pretty sure that one's available on DVD by itself.
EDIT: Errrrrrrp, no, I was thinking of the wrong documentary.
This is the one I was thinking of - hosted by Shirley Jones.
I see there's going to be another soundtrack CD. I'd like to be excited, but after about five CD versions, none of which have ever gotten it right in terms of being complete, I'm pretty much expecting this one to be a disappointment. Then again, is that CD even going to be available outside of the Blu-Ray box set?

I was
just about to mention that.
Here it is, available for purchase seperately-

I haven't really looked over the tracks extensively, but I think the only addition is Lea Michele's rendition of "My Favorite Things" from the Dove commercial.

And I'm sure it'll still be just the original LP versions, and HOPEFULLY the omission of the first version of Edelweiss is just an Amazon error. I'll stick with the version I cobbled together from Fox's 1995 24K Gold CD and RCA's 40th Anniversary CD.

In anticipation for its 45th anniversary,
The Sound of Music is being screened at select movie theatres in hi-definition in sing-along format. It will be accompanied by a new featurette entitled, "
I Will Sing Once More: The Sound of Music Today". There will be two showings only, one on October 19th and one on October 26th, both at 6:30 PM, local time.
To see if there's a screening near you, look here:

I definitely hope I'm able to attend!

It'll be at two theatres in my area. If costumes are allowed, I wanna dress up as the carburetor!

Julie Andrews, Christopher Plummer, and all the von Trapp children will be reunited on a special episode of Oprah dedicated entirely to The Sound of Music. Also scheduled to appear are the real descendants of Maria and Georg von Trapp who will be there to sing. The show is scheduled to air October 29th, four days before the release of the Blu-Ray set!

Very exciting news below!

This is, I believe, the first time that both Julie and Christopher have both been reunited with their "kids" on the same programme. Audience members will probably get to go home with a free copy of the Ultimate Edition Blu-ray box set.
