Stereotypes like in Heathers? According to that movie, all gay people walk around with Joan Crawford postcards, candy-dishes and bottled water. :D Great movie tho.

I do love me some Joan Crawford, whether the real deal in films like The Women, or as portrayed by Faye Dunaway in a certain campy film that'll make you think twice about ever bringing a wire hanger into your home. :P

Naw, stereotypes like loving Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand, having a more feminine voice, (Kinda like Bea Arthur with a light Southern accent...) having musicals in my collection, etc.

Now to me JG and BS have never interested me at all! i do embody quite a few stereotypes though. i love Bette Midler, but for her comedy films, not her music. Cher, Madonna naturally. But i do have quite a deep voice and i don't particularly 'mince' around - although i am capable of doing that if a contest arises, lol .
People don't immediately know I am gay.
Not a fan of chick flicks (the furthest i'll go is Mean Girls and even then i'm on the fence)

I think sometimes I portray myself as being more of a stereotype than i actually am. Sometimes you can be more entertaining to your friends if you take it to the next level.

I learned a few years back that people in my family were calling my homosexuality when I was SEVEN, before I could really develop any such stereotypes. Maybe it was the Little Mermaid thing I mentioned on page 1 or 2.

I love me some Cher too, and I'm positively giddy about the Madonna collection I might be inheriting from a friend who's moving to another continent. :P

Were you referring to me when you said "ha she cracked!"? So are you now telling me that you're butch most of the time and only when you're having a drink do you do a 360 and turn into your gay alter ego...?

Ha watched Mermaids earlier. She's just fabulous. she should be bronzed when she dies which will be never because she'll live on forever!!!

Hmmm i cringe when i think of my childhood now. Coming down stairs in a curtain like a long dress and mummy's thigh high boots to put the Hocus Pocus video in while all my father's friends were there. Ah back in the day before i realized how cruel and judgmental the world was. Obviously everyone knew it then, yet it was still a shock to my mum when i came out earlier in the year - did she literally block it out? lol but i'm happy she loves me being gay. i am told all the time. She thinks it's cool and hipp - i have to agree. Although im not fond of the moments where she says im the daughter she never had  i have to correct her and say i am the son you never had  (seriously my eldest brother is a pig)

Like a She Wolf you mean? it lurks in that closet and comes out at every full moon, yes....?

Also the comment you made about being like "the daughter she never had" reminded me of when Marge was told by Ruth that she was "like the level headed friend she never had"

I used to whirl around the living-room in a frilly purple nightgown, whilst my aunt played "In an English Country Garden" on the record player - I was five! :D

Considering the fact that she's made up of 98% plastic now, it's impossible for her to die. :P

Reading these topics has gotten me confused about MY sexuality. I'm fairly certain I'm straight, but I have seen a lot of girls' entertainment without cringing. Also, my toys were largely gender-neutral. I did used to play with a mulan mcdonald's figure, which didn't involve dress-up. When I was little, I did sometimes sneak into the basement and fiddle with my sister's barbie stuff, but never did much. I somehow also found myself very, very scared of most of Disney's female villains to the point where I'd never touch Snow White, Little Mermaid until I was 10 or 11, and all of the villains of the '90s were males. Then again, I did also invest most of my time into Peanuts' and trains. Lots and lots of trains! If sexuality was pinpointed by childhood, that makes things somewhat murky. I may just be bisexual. In addition, there were one or two instances of hair/nails, but never wearing a dress. And, I enjoy a few chick-flicks(Mean Girls, Legally Blonde), but not nearly as much as I do LOTR.

To be honest, if your concerned about your sexuality the only question you should really ask is "am I sexually attracted to men?". What you play with as a child doesn't influence your orientation. Not ALL gays play with dolls and some straight boys do but that doesn't determine their sexuality.

When it comes down to it, if you're not attracted to guys as well as women you're not bi.

What kind of action did you play with these half naked men?

:o what on earth are you implying?!!! I was just an innocent child, my mind would not have been corrupted with such thoughts!!! Ironically enough, all my action men had heterosexual relationships, I married one of them to my sister's Belle doll (The Beast must have been mistreating her again)
