Not that it matters much since I'm gonna buy this any way, but if Disney can't come up a half way decent and appealing new cover design, is there any way they would consider adapting either of these to a BD package?
And since it is commonly believed that the 2004 DVD was one of Disney's worst selling titles, is it too much to hope for another deluxe collector's set with the BD?

Well, now that we know it's not coming to Blu-ray next month (unless Disney decides to be spontaneous), when do you think we can expect this release. This film wasn't one of the films announced for the Diamond Collection, so you never know when it can appear as a Special Edition (like Dumbo).

I say if we do get a Blu of Aladdin, it'll be in 2012 for it's 20th anniversary.

I think it will come out next year as Disney always seems to releases anniversaries a year early.

I was thinking that it is a little too soon for it to be re-released, since it just went OOP two years ago, but you never know Disney.
Aladdin is my favorite film but I think Herc and HOND deserve to be re-released first (here I go again,

).
So, as it was said that Aladdin was the worst-selling of the Platinums, does this mean that we will get another line-up with the ousting of the worst-selling title from the Diamond Editions once that line is ends?

I think the lowest selling titles of the Diamond Editions should be put to a battle of the death to see who gets to remain in the next incarnation.
The loser joins "Aladdin" in Disney's new line, the Shameful Editions.

On Amazon .com(U.S) there is a page for Aladdin on Blu-ray that has cover art, but no date for the release, I don't know how to post links otherwise I would. The cover sort of looks like something sombody just made by themselves though-not sure if it's official cover art or not.

It's just a place-holder.

Just a place holder. That's not a sign something is coming soon though.
It also doesn't seem like an official cover, though the logo is pretty well made and could even pass for legit. But no... probably next year, like the rumors say.

If Aladdin gets released on Blu next year then maybe it's a good thing for titles to be abandoned from the DE line....it only means we'll get the movies on Blu quicker!

Seeing as Aladdin's DVD has a stellar transfer to it, it's not my first priority of Disney re-releases. I'd much rather see Hunchback of Notre Dame or Hercules get a combo next year. I don't understand why there's such a push for Aladdin next year.

I completely agree.
Hercules and
Hunchback are underrated anyway.

That's something I've seen in a "Create your own cover" thread on this website. It's nothing to get excited over.

Man...that art from the original soundtrack is absolutely beautiful, I have always thought so.
It would be great if they used it for the dvd/bluray art...
I remember the original art for the beauty and the beast sountrack. Also gorgeous. THose two were done by the illustrator who did the Indiana Jones posters...may he rest in peace...

Disney sucks at cover art.
Look at Emperor's New Groove: New Groove. Holy shit that looks awful.
Don't even have to mention Hercules, A Bug's Life, Great Mouse Detective, both Rescuers, Hunchback etc.

the cover art is fan made, follow his customer image link below the pic to see his other creations. They are basically old poster arts or old cover arts with a blue border...
I wouldn't really expect this title too soon. If all the rumor are true the closest time we'll see it is maybe next year around this time, but with Dumbo , Tangled, and maybe the Fantasias coming next spring we might not see it then either.

I thought Hunchback's CA looks nice.
And which Bug's Life cover would you be talking about?

I pre-ordered Toy Story 3 today and picked up Camp Rock as well at Toys R Us and guess what the RZone employee told me....
ALADDIN IS COMING TO BLU-RAY WINTER 2011! YES!!!! I cannot wait!
TRUST ME, I asked, are you SURE IT IS COMING OUT?!?!

I said, Aladdin, right? lol
I asled that a bunch of times.
The employee said that the Disney Lady had a paper and it was confirmed for winter 2011! I am SOOO HAPPY! I get my second favorite Disney film on Blu-ray next year!
