But Rudy, its not just some Nordic release schedule... that's just one of a number of evidence. Other non-US websites have listed Alice as taking over Aladdin's slot, see this post here which started the whole thing over 12 months ago:
http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... hp?t=21385
12 months... Humm, you'd think Disney US would have squashed the "rumours" about Alice/Aladdin in 12 months with it's international divisions by now if they weren't true wouldn't you?
Other evidence is the fact that Aladdin has been re-released in at least two of the world's five continents (Europe and Japan/Asia) - the only "Platinum Satus" release to be re-released outside the "plan".
Finally for all you people saying Aladdin's sales didn't disappoint you are wrong. It is a well known fact that Aladdin's DVD sales did disappoint and it is something which has often been discussed on this forum, such as in this thread devoted to the topic.
http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... torder=asc
And where did we get the idea that Aladdin underperformed? Well firstly from Disney itself
http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... ddin+sales
Also the DVD sales charts of the time (sorry I can't find any for 2004 and 2005 now, but I did find this - note No Aladdin in 2004 or 2005, but The Lion King and Cinderella are present)
http://buzz.qandas.com/video/what-are-t ... -dvds.html
And finally, the fact Disney didn't Vault Aladdin after the clearly stated 2 year period for Platinum releases.
http://www.bigscreen.com/journal.php?id=987
Aladdin was available from 2004 to 2008! Unprecidented for a Platinum release! Four whole years? Twice as long as planned when it was released! (If I remember correctly, Aladdin was the first Platinum released to the bi-annual release schedule, where the press release introducing this policy stated an availability of 2 years). Why do you think Aladdin was available for so long? Low sales (or perhaps more accurately lower than expected sales) can be the only answer.
As for being politically correct, I'm not so sure Disney would drop Aladdin from the Platinum release list for this reason while they are happily working on a Prince of Persia movie for 2009.
All this is fact. No suppositions or assumptions made by people walking around stores or emotional attachments to the film itself. Every single thing I've stated can be checked and confirmed. And when debating, if facts are on your side, you normally win.

I still see Aladdin in regular retail stores with a slipcover and all! It's easy to find still. I don't see the big deal with not re-releasing Aladdin with the other Platinum releases. It's not like it's unavailable in stores right now.

I personally think that everyone is reading way to much into this. I mean is there really anything we can do? If Disney is gunna shaft Aladdin and bump up Alice then fine. Both have gotten good 2 disc releases (or at least in R1 idn about other regions). So if your really worried about it just go out or online purchase the Aladdin PE and Alice's ME and sit tight till we get official word from Disney. Other than that is there really anything we can do? Is all this arguing and speculation worth the time you are all putting into it?

The only thing that really concerns me about this whole thing is it's obvious to get new PEs on Blu-ray when their re-released. How soon will it be before we finally get an Aladdin Blu? It would be sooner (probably) if it were still in the PE line. PE releases are guaranteed a Blu release. If Aladdin is taken out of the PE line then it may be quite awhile before we finally get some Blu Aladdin.....or, it may be sooner....who knows with Disney??!

Well if it isn't going to be a Platinum, maybe Disney will use it to one fo the first non-platinum blu releases. It would probably be a wise move since I'm sure it would be a strong enough title to support blu outside of the Platinum publicity.

Holland is in Region 2 and we didn't get a 2-disc release of
Alice.

I think that those are well-predicted, but the only flaw is that you mixed the dates for the 2011 releases, Alice in Wonderland will probably be in the March release (same date as Burton movie) and not in the October release which is rightfully reserved for The Lion King.
I also think that if BATB 3D does well in the box office, The Lion King will also get the 3D treatment, and if the domino effect is still there, then you'd probably find that a lot of the Fall PE's will also be in 3D. The reason that I think they'd do this, is because late 2009/early 2010 will be the time when we'll get those 3D HDTVs and 3D Bluray Player, and all the companies like Panasonic and Sony will need 3D media.

I've got an idea of a reason why Disney would make Alice join the Platinum line: Alice is one of the Princesses of Heart in the Kingdom Hearts games. Belle, Jasmine, Aurora, Snow White, and Cinderella are Princesses of Heart in the games too (Aurora, Snow White, and Cinderella will show up in the KH prequel: Birth by Sleep) and all their movies are in the Platinum line!

Kingdom, what? Sorry most people don't play that game and that reason is ridiculous.
The real reason are more likely that a) Alice is next in line for the next selling order and or b) Disney wants to tie it in with the Burton film or c) label it a 60th Anniversary release or d) wants to make it more popular and giving it a platinum release will make it seem more important.
Regardless of the reason, I'm glad Alice is going Platinum.

Just a thought a had:
The movies in the PE line aren't often shown on TV, whereas movies like Hercules and Alice in Wonderland are often shown on Disney Channel or Toon Disney. Alice in Wonderland was even on Disney Channel within the past week. Once Alice becomes a PE, if it really does, will it not be shown on TV much at all anymore?

I metioned before that Aladdin is now playing on Toon Disney and ABC Family, which it hasn't done in years. In contrast, I don't think Alice in Wonderland hasn't been on as much as it usually is, even though you're right, Amy, that it was on recently.

Is the AiW Gold Collection DVD rare or vastly superior? At a second hand retail store yesterday I saw it used for $24.98 when the majority of their Disney films are $66.98 to $9.98.

I don't know about the rare part, but the bonus features aren't superior to the features on the Masterpiece Edition. The only substantial bonus feature from the Gold Collection is also on the Masterpiece Edition. If you don't own
Alice yet, I'd suggest getting the Masterpiece Edition...or you could wait for the upcoming PE (if indeed it will be a part of the line)...but I'd still suggest getting the Masterpiece Edition- IMO, it's a great set with a lot of nice bonus features. UD says that it's OOP now, but surely it must still be available in some stores.

Oh, I have the Masterpiece Edition. I bought it at the same store for $12.00. So to see the Gold Collection for $25.00 was surprising.

Aladdin was released to Platinum AFTER The Lion King... so why would the schedule not go...
Spring 2011 - Alice In Wonderland
Autumn 2011 - The Lion King
Spring 2012 - One final Platinum title
Autumn 2012 - Aladdin
That would put 2013 back on the original schedule with Bambi in Spring and Cinderella in Autumn.
And as far as Disney themselves saying that Aladdin underperformed... What the press release actually said was that it didn't perform as well as The Lion King, which was the best selling re-release ever. So 2nd best selling re-release ever would have performed worse than The Lion King as well. I feel like people are reading way too far into this. You have to keep in mind that Aladdin is still one of Disney's top grossing animated films. They aren't going to stop releasing it just because it sells less than expected in one release. And as far as it being in print longer than the 2 year Platinum expectation, they also stated in their press release that they were re-evaluating moratorium times... They very easily could have decided to leave it in print a while longer to sell more copies... Regardless, that doesn't mean they have demoted it.
Another point I would like to make is that these "projected release date lists" never stay the same. Keep in mind that when the Platinum line first started, we weren't expected to see Cinderella until 2006, Lady And The Tramp in 2007 and The Little Mermaid in 2008. We all know how that worked out.

Pity. I'd have preferred a 2007 release of
Lady and the Tramp: 52nd Anniversary Edition.

2012 would be a good year to release Aladdin, that would be his 20th anniversary, so if it won't be a PE I would bet that it would get released right at that year.

Why on Earth would Disney be expected to issue a press release listing one of their "failures"?

The fact is was on sale for 4 years before being vaulted (and according to some it still readily available now in certain stores new) quite clearly shows it has underperformed sales wise.

A film with a $28 million budget, that has so far made over $504 million is HARDLY a failure. One underperforming home video release does NOT qualify a film as a failure.

I very clearly stated (and I will quote myself again,) "They very easily could have decided to leave it in print a while longer to sell more copies."
It's ridiculous how so many people on this board act like they are the "go to guy" for Disney...
The fact is... nobody knows what Disney is going to do with Aladdin as of right now. And one tentative schedule that wasn't even released officially by Disney is hardly means for all of this.
I guess we will know in a few years, but until then, get off your high horses. You don't know anything more than anyone else on this subject. And your "facts" are merely assumptions. Regardless if you are correct or not, there has not been any official word on where Aladdin will fall in this second run thru the Platinum line.
If it doesn't come the year after The Lion King then I will happily admit that I was wrong. But until then, or until Disney issues some sort of statement saying it has been dropped from the Platinum line... I think people should stop pretending they know what's happening, when the reality is, they don't.

I believe that Netty was referring to the PE of
Aladdin as being a failure, not the film itself.
