This makes me mad!

Why do they keep delaying them? Why not just keep the same date as planned. People are going to stop trusting Disney on their release days.

I wonder if Disney will delay the Treasure Tins Wave 3 again.
I wonder if Disney will delay the Treasure Tins Wave 4.
What else will be delay Aladdin and Lion King 2: Simba Pride.
Why do they keep delaying DVD's it's getting me annoying and mad!
If they delay them why can't they take others ones out earlier?
At least I seen Pocahontas, Lilo and Stitch and Mary Poppins

I hate to burst all your perfect little bubbles of hatred, but do you people really think Eisner has anything to do with this decision?
Do you not think that running one of the world's largest company involves much more work than demanding - apparently out of spite - that some DVD releases are put back? Plus, as Jake as pointed out, I doubt Eisner would make such a decision because there's a distinct lack of DVD releases for this year anyhow. Home video sales are partly whats making him look good to the shareholders, why would he stop that? Plus next year we already have two Platinums on the schedule. What's the point of speeding up the Platinum releases if you're going to hold back on the other 2 disc releases? Already next year we know there's at least four 2 disc sets to be released (plus more than likely another Pixar 2 disc set).
I don't mind you guys bashing Eisner for things he does do, but this seems like a non-Eisner decision, even given his reputation for micro-management.
I'd like to think that the delay is to make the products better. We all know content is missing from the Alice Masterpeice Edition that was on the LD. We all know that no commentary was recorded. Perhaps if Alice was similarly delayed we would have both more content and a new especially recorded commentary.

It's a little pathetic to come in late in a thread like this, because all of my feeling have already been readily expressed by the rest of the members. I was really looking forward to Masterpeice Editions, and it just plain sucks to have them delayed. The policy about SC2's widescreen being unavailable is utterly stupid.

I certainly know how you all feel. The first advertisement I saw for a "Sleeping Beauty" DVD was in a 2001 Disney Store calendar purchased in 2000. It stunk to wait 2 whole years to get it! Not only that, but I missed my chance for the Pocahontas DVD with the Beauty and the Beast Buy 3 DVD's get one free promotion and I refuse to pay $29.99 for it at the mall. I feel your pain...
Also, I am still confused with this Lilo and Stitch II. I heard about that and Tarzan II before, but then Tarzan and Jane and Stitch the movie was released along with their tv series and done by the Television animation studios.
So...does that mean the Feature animation studios are doing the sequels? Does this mean that they'll make a feature sequel like they had with the Rescuers Down Under?

Does this mean Disney Feature Animation will continue with 2D movies?

Or does this mean Lilo and Stitch II and Tarzan II will be computer animation?

No.
Unfortunately not.
I hope not, but you never really know what Disney is up to. Actually, I hope these films never see daylight.

Guys, relax. I'm just as pissed off as the rest of you about the delays, but you make it seem like Disney is delaying these for the fun of it and to piss us off. There's got to be a reason for the delays, there always is, otherwise they wouldn't delay them. Even if it's not always a reason we like or agree with, there always is one.
Treasures III was delayed because they need more copies and needed more time to get the tins.
Lilo & Stitch was delayed to cross-promote it with the sequel.
Mary Poppins was delayed to allow cross-promotion with The Princess Diaries II DVD.
As for Pocahontas, we don't really know yet why this was delayed. The most obvious reason is that Disney thinks it can get more sales if it releases this in 2005 and bills it as a "10th Anniversary Edition." Another possibility is they need more time to finish up extras or to fully insert If I Never Knew You into the film.
On the Mirimax side of things, BVHE delayed Kill Bill Volume 1 from February 3 to April 13 because Volume 2 was delayed by the theatrical division (from February 20 to April 16) so as to allow for it to be edited and completed to the filmmakers' satisfaction. The same thing happened last year with The Alamo, delayed by TouchStone from Christmas Day 2003 to April 9th, 2004, so as to let the filmmakers have more time to finish it.
What's my point here?
There's always a reason. Even if it's not one that we like, there's always a reason when they delay these things. Some of you make it seem like they're delaying them for the sake of delaying it and pissing us off, where in realty, pissing off the customers is the last thing they want to do. To borrow a phrase, their choice has been made. We just don't understand their choice, and can't see past a choice we don't understand. Remember that.

What worries me the most is that they will have plenity of time to edit out all the Roy Disney footage out of the DVDs... and even maybe the Florida studios! Remember we were going to get a Florida studios tour on the "Lilo & Stitch" DVD?

Eeeeek! Don't give anyone bad ideas!
Please Note: Disney executives, please ignore the previous post! It will be so much easier to just release the DVDs as they are now. Thank you!

Nothing with Disney is 100% certain. Look at the "confirmed" releases of Rescuers, Frank and Ollie, and The Love Bug. Sure we got them, but it took a few weeks of waiting and searching.

I hope everybody has dropped them an email to express our disappointment with the delays and will call to tell them and perhaps get a response. I've done the email thing and will get on the phone tomorrow to register my complaints and maybe get an answer or two.

This really makes me mad! I was REALLY looking foward to Pocahontas, Lilo and Mary Poppins as well!

I just hope Lion King 1.5, Brother Bear, Lion King 2, and Aladdin don't get delayed as well!
Also I am also REALLY mad about no notice on the Princess Sing along songs dvd! It was supposed to come out the same time as Home on the Range sing along songs!

I agree this is probaply not an Eisner decision, his 'Disney ideal' is too flood the market so why would he delay??
well the only thing I could come up with is that the Lilo and Pocahontas SEs had some behind the scenes footage with Roy in it that now has to be taken back and edited out. And all the Florida footage on the Lilo disc will be digitally repainted with the Burbank lot behind them.

I mean, it could be, up till now the Disney management has been ignoring Roy, so WHY would they let him on their dvd's??....anyway, its just a theory...

Maybe they do have to edit some Roy Disney stuff out. But maybe there's a legal reason for doing so - not spite or ego. I doubt any Florida footage on the Lilo and Stitch DVD will be edited out - they must of known about closing Florida down for at least a year.
I'm not convinced about the cross-promotion with The Princess Diary films for Mary Poppins (the film's Mary Poppins for goodness sakes,
it doesn't need cross promotions to sell), but an 10th Anniversary Edition of Pocahontas sort of makes sense given past Disney Anniversary Editions (does this mean Pocahontas won't be a Masterpiece Edition? Is that branding going down the pan already?) and holding Lilo and Stitch back for a cross promotion with the sequel makes sense (but I expect it will just be an excuse to put a MovieCash voucher in the DVD to artificially boost the box office for the sequel).

yeah, that is beyond me as well... and I dont really see the things they have in common anyway.
Mary Poppins was released here as 'special edition' a few months back and it had only two extra features...

of course dull games and sing a longs but no in depth stuff... and still they called it SE...the quality was excellent though..

Julie Andrews..?
Could it be that they feel The Princess Diaries needs cross promotion, not the other way round?

LOL of course, stupid me!

Its Julie Andrews they have in common

lol and yeah, the Princess diaries is the one that needs cross promotion... not Mary Poppins.. another management mistake imo
