I would love to take part in this, but obtaining the books I've seen so far would be rather difficult since my library hates me (but it's ok because I hate them ;) )....semi-long story

Of course since I can't suggest books I've read that puts a damper on things =/ Oh well I could always try reading in the library :) For now though I'll lurk.

OMG!

You totally picked my new favorite book!!!!

Well, if everyone likes the book, I suggest you read "New Moon" and "Eclipse" which are the sequels, and then "Breaking Dawn" which comes out on August 2nd. I can't WAIT to read and participate. I've been itching to talk about this book, and I was going to start an entire "Twilight" thread, but now I don't have to =)

Actually, of all the books, my favorite one so far was probably the second...but that's just me. In case you were wondering.

And I'd like to join in, too.

Sure you can join in!

And Shawn, I've changed the rules now, so you can nominate books you've read.

Amy will be taking over for a bit, while I'm on vacation to Cape Cod, Massachusetts! :D :P

I'll be sure to read my part while I'm there, and will be itching to discuss it when I come back!

I'll try to get the book this week since a bookstore near me just got a new English Book selection, so I'll see if I can get it there or I'll just have to order it on amazon.

I still haven't gotten the book- since it's new, there's probably a waitlist, so I don't know when I'll get it. So, I guess we'll start when everyone who wants to participate gets the book? Unless I'm the one holding everyone up, unless you all want to wait until I get it...?

Hopefully we'll all be able to get a copy sometime soon and then we can start!

And Dan, I didn't know that you changed the rules (about nominating books that we have read)! This is great!!! :pink:

I actually still need to pick up a copy..

But it's only $8.99 at Borders, so I'll most likely get it on my way to Cape Cod so I can read on the way.

Amy, Twilight was actually released in 2005 so it shouldn't be too hard to get.

It was also a best seller, so you should be able to easy snatch up a copy.

Oh! I thought that it was new! I still don't know how many people are in front of me on the library's waitlist for the book, but hopefully I'll get it soon!

Has anyone started reading yet?

Twilight? That "complex vampire falls in love with ordinary girl" book that everyone and their pet gerbil has read? Can we pick something that isn't so overrated?

You're not going to like every book that's picked. You can just not be rude about it.

And, obviously, not "everyone and their pet gerbil" has read it, because the people in this thread haven't yet. That's why they're reading it now.

I just revceived the book today. We're supposed to read 125 pages per week...whoever is interested in the book and book club and who haven't gotten it yet, if you could post in here letting us know that you haven't gotten the book yet, and then let us know when you do get the book, we can officially assign the first 125 pages!

:)

I haven't yet, since it's out of stock at my bookshop and at amazon until last week. I haven't checked again since. But if I can't get the book by next week, you all just go ahead and start reading and I'll get the book when I am in the US at the end of July and I'll try and catch up.

I know that Dan (PeterPanfan) is on vacation for about a week, and he created the book club, so the actual assigning of the pages and the official discussion probably won't begin until at least a week after he gets back.

Okay, I'm back from vacation!

Prudence, there will be some books that you will not want to read, but that doesn't call for a disrespectful post. It was voted for, so please wait until the next round to make any off-topic comments.

I bought the book...and finished it in one day. And I finished New Moon. I couldn't help myself, it was amazing.

But I will still discuss the assigned amount of pages with all of you.

And please try to have the books within the next couple of days, because I asked you to have them a while ago, and I keep extending the date.

If you do not have the book by Wednesday at noon, you will have to wait until the next round to partake in any discussion.

Finally, at the last minute, my local book seller was able to order the book for me from a special seller who still had it in stock, and I am gonna get it tomorrow morning.

Yay! Haha, it looks like only four people will be discussing...

Me, you, Amy, and Meg. Oh, well, it should be fun! :)

Maybe more people will participate next time since Twilight is a book that a lot of people have already read.

I want to participate!
I am only going to read the dutch version, is that a problem?
They sometimes change names, so I don't know.
The only problem is that I don't have the book yet.
I am still looking for it and since it wasn't a really big succes here...
I will tell you when I have the book, I'm going to the library Friday or tomorrow, and it's a really big one, so if they don't have it I'm going to wait, I guess..
You guys just start and I'll jump in when I'm at the same pages as you guys are. Is that okay, or do I have to wait till the next book?
I really want to read Twilight so I'll read it anyways.. :P
