I just noticed that Sleeping Beauty and Lilo and Stitch aren't in this list too! :o they"re much more deserve to be there then The Simpsons Movie, all the Mizaki films or Ice Age and other CGI films.
And Finding Nemo is my favorite Pixar movie (And I might like Kung Fu Panda but I haven't seen it) but I don't think it's better then The Little Mermaid or Enchanted and Snow White and Sleeping Beauty are MUCH better then Kung Fu Panda.
Slow down now, Hayao Miyazaki's films are very well done especially artistically they definately deserve spots on that list.

Generally *almost* any movie on that list is better than Kung Fu Panda. Personally I'd remove KFP from the list, put Sleeping Beauty back somewhere in the middle perhaps, and remove Enchanted to replace it with Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Or at the very least put Enchanted at the bottom, and remove Simpsons movie for WFRR.

Which is why I never pay attention to these kinds of lists.

Enchanted as an animated movie, indeed.

10 minutes does not equate "animated movie".

And I agree with Cherny. The Miyazaki films are very well done and all of the Studio Ghibli films deserve a place on any "Top Animated" lists

I agree. While the facial animation leaves a lot to be desired, the background detail and the outstanding storytelling more than make up for it. One example that sticks out to me is how, in HMC, Sophie is constantly shifting between an old woman and a young lady based on her self-perception. I also enjoy how Miyazaki's films offer an unlimited supply of powerful, admirable women (not necessary, but thankful). HMC, Spirited Away, GotF and Nausicaa certainly should be on any 50-movie list.

In many ways, Disney and Ghibli are somewhat opposite in the direction they take their films. Disney almost always focuses on character and emotion while background detail and story take the backseat.

As far as Don Bluth films go, An American Tail and The Land Before Time are the only ones I believe belong there.

Wait Disney's Divinity. you think Sophie's self-perception color-changing is a part of story, not character or emotion?

Anyway, sort of but not really about powerful females, I just wanted to let you know in a thread you come in, a woman who marries the prince, princess or not, may not be queen in the sense with think of. She may only be a queen consort. They are only the King's wives, and may have no real power. So I don't think they would even be able to control or decide anything except by talking to their husband.

However, according to Wikipedia, some queen consorts can achieve, perhaps through pushing, power. Or they were just ambitious. Or they rule until their children are king or queen. I guess some researching could help. Ooh, found a cooler, probably more accurate and informative link.

Also, however, this is Disney, and they tend to change the royal rules in fairy tales. I wouldn't mind believing that in the fairy tales, the heroines and the circumstances were special, and they bent some rules and made things happen that wouldn't normally. I mean, everyone coming to the ball and the prince marrying a commoner? In Disney's Cinderella, the proclamation stated the slipper-fitter would rule by the Prince's side as Princess and future Queen. Add to that the opening theme "Cinderella"'s lyrics about "queenly grace" and Illene Woods being "Queen" of a Cinderella Ball held for the film's premiere...maybe it only means queen consort, but they place a lot of emphasis on it, or they didn't know she wouldn't have power, or they decided she would, or they didn't care if she did or not... I mean, according to Wikipedia, the King can't be called "His Imperial Majesty" (it should only be for an emporer), and the Grand Duke can't be knighted. Link.

Uh...Miyazaki's films are really good and deserve high places.

Okay, maybe Miyazaki's film should stay, never seen any of them but saying that Kung Fu Panda and Ice Age are better Snow White and Sleeping Beauty is the dumbest thing I"ve ever heard.
