Well...this is depressing News....I am speechless and angry all at the same time...ugh....honestly I'd rather have Narnia 3 rather than Pirates 4.....or even National Treasure 3.....

I disagree that reading the series chronoglogically is "retarded." That's the way I first read it and The Magician's Nephew is the only thing that kept me going through LWW and PC, both of which I find as low points in the series. And though Horse and His Boy seemed kind of unconnected to the other stories, it kept me interested as well.

If I were to rank the series, it'd be: 1. TVotDT, 2. TMN, 3. TLB, 4. TH&HB, 5. TSC, 6. LWW and 7. PC. Taking that into consideration, I can't say I'm surprised Caspian did worse.

Its not like we're not going to still get the next Narnia though. I'd probably be fine with FOX buying it, as long as it means a solid blu ray release with plenty of extras.

If anything maybe they can make the third movie a bit darker than it would be at Disney. (not drastically or anything, just a few things here and there, keeping the vibe established in the last 2)

Surprising news, at least for me. I'd have figured Disney would have at least tried to complete a "trilogy" if they weren't going to complete the series.

The article says that Walden's shipping the film around, and that it might end up at Fox. That'd be quite interesting, and I hope it's a venue further explored.

Out of all the crap Disney has given us in the past 10 years, this is the worst thing i have heard. Hopefully Walden Media steps it up.

Not surprising at all.

They did a lousy job with the first one, which is sure fire.

Disney's TLTW&TW cannot do in four hours what the Bill Melendez animated TV version did in 85 minutes.

Yes, my bad. Still - Some of Disney's worst films have been made since Eisner's departure. And now this stupidity. If Fox makes it, they'll never advertise it. It will bomb hardcore, just like the underrated City of Ember.

This is terrible. Sure, the films were a bit cleaner at Disney but at least Disney did promote these well for the most part - I saw ads all over - and budgeted them well. Some other studio may see it as another fantasy and therefore a surefire hit by genre alone, not funding it as well and possibly making it too dark to capture the LotR crowd - secularizing it in the process.

I knew people were abuzz when this wasn't mentioned at Disney's press summit a few months ago. I never would have guessed they dropped it. But seriously, they chose Wild Hogs 2 over this?

This feels like the time Eisner turned down rights to Harry Potter because he didn't feel it would be a success. Now look, the new Harry Potter theme park is going to be a massive success and the Potter empire has stockpiled billions.

I hope whoever gets it doesn't make it overtly dark or violent. I don't think Lewis would have wanted that. I hope they keep the religious undertones. I mean - that's sort of a must with the way the books were. And most of all, I hope it's a blockbuster and Disney misses out on millions of dollars. That'll just be a god slap in the face!

While it sucks, I dont know if I would want to see the third film now that the two eldest are gone.

I love Lucy, and would have been really excited to see it. I still definitley will, even though Disney won't be making it. I honestly do think it's stupid of them. I hope they know I would be at Voyage of the Dawn Treader rather than Wild Hogs 2 in a heartbeat.

This really sucks. I really enjoyed the first film and was pleasantly surprised by the second. I agree that the timing sucked on the release but it seems like Disney is dumbing down their films as of late.....

Ya, exactly.
I was so angry when I read this.
And I would definitely have Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader, my favorite book, than PoTC 4 (I don't even like the series), and though I love NT, I'd have Narnia over it too.

I am very dissapointed. I really feel like that's about all I can say about it.

The Narnia series is one fo my favorites and I really enjoyed that Disney picked it up. I hope Fox (or some other studio) does pick the rest up, I would like to see more!

I know someone said this is a great time to be a Disney Fan.....but making Wild Hogs 2 over Narnia 3.....now I feel embarassed to be a Supporter of Disney when Disney Makes these kind of idiotic choices ........

Disney doesn't make the choices, we do. Of course they are going to make Wild Hogs 2 over Narnia 3. The dollar signs say it's a better investment. You can't blame a company for not spending hundreds of millions of dollars to make a movie that won't make them a profit.

If the Narnia fans want to be mad at anybody they should be mad at the populous for not throwing the greenbacks behind Prince Caspian.

I'm not at all disappointed. I mildly enjoyed the first film, but it never did feel like a Disney movie to me. I very much disliked the second film due to it mostly consisting of prolonged battle scenes over likable character development. I think Disney is doing itself a favor to disassociate itself with a series that never quite fit the company's image and style to begin with (at least in the way these films were done).

At least the Narnia series gave Disney live action a stake in the big budget fantasy genre...yes, the second one may not have done financially as well as expected, but I find it hard to believe that inundating the market with preteen disney channel movies made esp for cinema fulfills the much touted announcement by Disney execs less than two years ago, that disney was reducing el cheapo movies and focasing only on the very highest quality family entertainment...Narnia is an evergreen. A live action gem. Regardless of its fan base it will be remebered when people will be saying Hannah who? Hannah, Mcguire, HSMusical and now 3d concert movies are Mcdonalds entertainment and while they serve to stuff the disney bank account with lots of preteen dollars, at the end of the day it is not the high quality cinema Dick Cook promised. Im sorry but doesnt that go against the much touted quality credo the execs made two years ago?

Why Disney? It's like Dawn Treader just got a divorce from the others. The only other franchise that I know of where they pulled this sort of thing is The Terminator. I guess the first was MGM and the third was Warner Brothers.

I bet they would've greenlit it if they could've figured out a way to get Hannah Montana in it.

This is horrible news! I was so sad and angry when I read about this. And dropping this news during X-mas?! I love Disney at it's best, but I hate all that tweencrap they make (Hannah Montana, High School Musical, The Game Plan, BHC etc). This shows how greedy Disney is and how much you can trust The Disney Company.

Would it kill Disney to make great movies and keep a strong brand for future generations that says "quality"? Stupid, stupid men in suits that does not want anything else than earning quick cash. In the long run, this is ruining Disney! Disney would make tons of cash on Narnia as well, had they not messud up with the releasedate on Prince Caspian. And even when Prince Caspian underperformed at the box office, Disney made cash and will make even more with DVD/Blu-ray and merchandise-sales, and they can continue to sell the movie and make money on it for decades to come.

Stupid, stupid Disney! I swear, from now on I shall never buy anything Disney-related that is not a quality product. The next time I'm in a store I may be thinking: Should I give BHC or Camp Rock a chance because it's made by Disney and I want to support them? Then I will say to myself: No ******* chance! I am planning to buy stricktly animated classics, the Pixar-films and only the great live action-movies from now on. If Disney won't commit itself to quality, they won't get my money!

I have always defended Disney when people talk bad about the company and I have mentioned all the good movies they have made and all they are planning to make. Now Disney is testing my patience...

But anyway: Merry X-mas/Happy holidays to all Disney-fans who reads this, and many greetings from Norway. And, remember to buy Prince Caspian on Blu-ray and DVD, and pick up the soundtrack on CD as well!
