Now I'm offended! lol :P

Yes, Eilonwey is a princess, but she really doesn't fit the kind of audience appeal that Mulan and the rest have. Let's face the facts! The Disney Princess thing is a franchise, which only means one thing and that is MONEY! If you really think that a Princess Eilonwey doll would sell over a Mulan doll then I really don't know what planet you are from.

Personally, and not from a business point of view I would rather Eilonwey be in the princess line and Mulan be in the Disney Heroes line. The chances of that happening is slim to none though.

^ The Disney Heroes line which has now been pulled from the Disney Stores, by the way, and the Peter Pan and Hook action figures were repackaged to fit the Platinum Edition DVD release. Just a random tidbit.
the whole Disney Princess line is a convoluted mess anyway, as it only focuses on the popular ones.
It focuses on ones who fit together as a group. Princess Eilonwy, Tiger Lilly and Princess Kidakagash are the only three human princesses not included in the line, because they do not fit in with the rest.

Haha yeah. Can't forget her :P
Ever notice that very few of the Princesses have living mothers? Of the official Princesses, only Aurora and Mulan do.

Meg is; she (presumably) married Hercules and he was the Prince of... I want to say Olympus? Wherever his parents lived.

Hercules was a god...he can't really be considered Prince of anything, or else everyone on Olympus who was the offspring of one of the original gods would have to be considered one.

We're really stretching here anyhow.

First of all, if we are to be official, these are the stated princesses.

Snow White (apart of line)
Cinderella (apart of line)
Tiger Lilly (not apart of line)
Aurora (apart of line)
Elionwy (not apart of line)
Ariel (apart of line)
Belle (apart of line)
Jasmine (apart of line)
Pocahontas (apart/not apart of line)
Kida (not apart of line)
Gieselle (apart of line)
Rupunzel (???)
Maddy (???)

Disney Heroines who are not princesses and not apart of line
Esmerelda
Megra (P.S. Meg may be a princess in the tales, but isn't stated in film plus Hercules is a son of a god, although declined his title, so in a way more like Lady God Megra, yes I know there is no phrase)
Mulan (not official princess, just wife to general plus is apart of line)
Alice

First off I wanted to say that I am a disney watcher but some of these names aren't making any sense to me. If someone could tell me what movie they came from, Thank you so much.

Maddy
Giselle (from the new movie?)
Eilonwy
Kida

The other thing in the picture above I don't know the names to 4 people. One is in the first row, last picture.
thrid row, the last 3 pictures. Thanks for all the help.

Unless you take into account the fact that Zeus is basically the king of the gods. And if he's not king, he's chief, which makes a world of difference (sarcasm, if you couldn't tell). So Meg would still end up being a princess (if Pocahontas' title as an actual princess means anything).

Second Row: Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Esmeralda
Third Row: Megara, Mulan, Kidakagash, Giselle, Rapunzel

And on a generally related note to the notion of "official" by Disney...If the Disney Animated Classics list is any indication, "official" doesn't necessarily mean airtight-sealed-no-way-to-change-it-ever true. A lot of people refuse to consider Chicken Little to be an "official" Disney Animated Classic, regardless of the standard definition being any film produced through Walt Disney Feature Animation. Likewise, there will still be people who'll always consider characters like Eilonwy and Kidakagash as official princesses even if some merchandise line refuses to do so. We could even argue that Cinderella and Belle shouldn't be included since they're only Princess-by-Marriage, or that only Walt-era princesses should be considered "true" Disney Princesses.

Okay, I remember posting something of a list in a diff. topic I made to clear this mess up, but it's MIA now, and you can find it under Disney Princess Debate (at least I think thats what it was called...) So here's the list from what I remember

Snow White: Princess through birth - unknown mom who's deceased?
Cinderella: Princess through marriage - Prince Charming
Aurora: Princess by birth - King Stefan and Queen Lillian? can't remember
Maid Marion: Princess by blood = King Richard
Princess Eilowny: Princess through birth - unknown parents (again)
Ariel and her sisters: Princesses through birth - King Triton
Belle: Princess through marriage - Beast
Jasmine: Princess through birth - The Sultan
Pocahontas: Princess through birth = Chief Powahtan
Meg: Princess through marriage - Hercules sinc his dad is King of Gods
Princess Kidagakash - Princess through birth - King Kashekim
Kairi - Kingdom Hearts Princess through birth I'm assuming
Giselle - Princess through birth I'm assuming
The other new one.... - Princess through birth I'm assuming as well

Esmerelda: Gypsy, could be considered a Princess of the Gypsy's
Jane Porter: Englishwoman, no evidence of royalty in family
Mulan: married to Captain Shang, not married or born to royalty
Nala: Technically a Queen now, through marriage to Simba
Kiara: Technically a Queen now also through blood though unlike her mom
Faline: Married to Bambi, so she would be Queen of the Forest technically
Alice: Sister to a governess, Princess of Heart in Kingdom Hearts

Now two side notes (or more)

- I know some people here would argue about Alice being Princess from Kingdom Hearts, but I go by what I have for information so in the game the 7 Princesses were Pure of Heart, so I'm assuming that Alice was pure of heart and thats why she was put in there with the rest they didn't specifically (from what I remember) say that the 7 were actual Princesse's since in the game you go to Atlantica where Ariel is and she's a princesse but nothing really happened to her...

- Meg is in the princess group because she married Hercules, Hercules is technically a prince because his father is King of The Gods of Olympus, so even though he declined staying at Olympus with his parents, that doesn't take away his title, just his living situation.

But then we're assuming Meg marries Hercules, another strech. It's just safter to keep her out. By the same way Nala could be grandfathered in, ridiculously.

Yeah, but no one in mythology ever called Athena a "princess" because her father was Zeus.
