Also I had not played with the toys as a kid or watched the 80's show (although I watched Beast Wars: Transformers & Beast Machines: Transformers) so I was not all that familiar with the characters. To top that off I really have not been liking Shia these last few years but….

:o HOLY $%*! THAT WAS SUCH AN AWESOME MOVIE! I loved it so much! I MUST see it again!

Glad to hear that you liked it. Beast Wars was pretty good as well. Some of the Generation 1 characters showed up in that during the episodes where they find the Autobot Ark, and Starscream's ghost was in one episode.

I dunno if "meh" has Disney origins, but it's basically another way of showing apathy/disgust/boredom with something. Kind of like "Ehh...", "Blegh", or "Ugh", or even the rarely-used "yeaarrgghh".

Anyway, I saw this movie tonight with my cousin and his fiance, and having had absolutely no knowledge at all of what Transformers were, was completely enthralled by the movie. I'll leave a detailed analysis another time (maybe after I see it a second time, which I know I will), but with the movie fresh on my mind, I'd give it a nice 4 out of 5 stars.

Those were hardly kick-ass movies. "Knocked Up" was okay, the f-bomb usage was a little much and turned a lot a people away from it.

Ocean's Thirteen was better than "12", still not as good as "11".

1408 sadly was good for the first 30 minutes and then they telegraphed the all-to-obvious ending.

Live Free or Die Hard was poorly dubbed and quickly cut to avoid the "R" rating which the DVD will have, save your money and pass on the sanitized version of John McLane's adventure in D.C.

Ratatouille is a Disney/Pixar film and should not be compared to any film released this summer. In its class it is far superior to anything out there, including Transformers.

I will stand by what I said, Transformers will give this summer box-office kick in the butt that it needed to make it a record-summer after such a dismal one last year.

Just saw Transformers today and I have to say it was great. Growing up in the 80's I was a big Transformer fan I also played with Transformer toys when I was young. I'm glad that 80's shows are being made to movies can't wait for He-Man, Thundercats and TMNT sequel.
Anyways Transformers does have its moments and was entertaining not like Shriek the Third which was a waste of time. Shia LaBeouf will be the Tom Hanks of the 2000's. I give Transformers a solid B+. Bring on the sequel which will have the Dinobots, the Constructicons, and Soundwave.
DreamWorks gave greenlit Transformers for two more sequels and Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox and Peter Cullen are to return.

Trailers with Transformers:

The Simpsons: The Movie
Rush Hour 3
I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry
Hot Rod
Superbad

The artwork is up now. I really like the 1 disc artwork a lot better than the 2 disc.

The 2-discer cover art is pretty cheesy looking.

I just can't believe how quickly this movie is coming out on DVD! It just opened on the 4th of July! That's just 3 1/2 months!

I wasn't expecting it until late November or December. That is pretty quick. I think it was just released, or getting ready to be released in IMAX as well.

Futureshop is going to have a steelbook for Transformers. Well actually 2. One for Autobots, and one for Decepticons. I wonder what kind of stuff will be at Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart, and Target.

.........

Yet another six more weeks of putting up with my sister squeeing about Transformers...

Although I suppose it wouldn't be a bad idea to invest in an XBox 360 and the external HD-DVD drive if only so she could watch Transformers in hi-def and I could play Eternal Sonata...

Come on, DarthPrime. Cheap players. 5 free movies. (more if you shop about) Even if you buy a HD DVD player now and only 10 more titles over the next year and even then if the format goes tits-up, its gotta be worth it.

I really have been thinking about getting one 2099net.

The HD-A2 is around $200 now if you shop around. I was waiting to see how the HD-A3 was when it becomes available. I've seen it for preorder for around $250ish already. I can also use it as a upconverting player for DVDs as well. Very tempting...

If you're still wondering it you should buy a PS3, I would say Buy a PS3. If you are just after a player, I would recommend a HD DVD player now, and a Blu-Ray player later next year when (hopefully) prices will be lower (and it will be 1.1 or 2.0 complient).

Looks like the US is getting the 2 disc Steelbooks as well. FYE is going to have 2 Steelbooks for Transformers. Like Futureshop one will be for Autobots, and one for Decepticons.

I'm going to go later this week to FYE and see if they have anymore information about them. Probably going to get the Autobot one depending on price.

Here's some more information about the DVD:

- The movie is divided into 23 chapters, not the measly 15 or 17 chapters that Paramount usually graces on their titles
- No pre-loaded trailers for other movies play upon insertion of either disc (not sure whether that anti-piracy ad is still there)
- The audio is reference quality for any high-end home theater system

See the review and screengrabs here.

The Target exclusive looks similar to the Region 4 2 disc set. I was wondering if any store in the US would get that one. I just wonder how that set will hold up. It looks like it could break pretty easy.

Why Cliffjumper in the Best Buy Giftset? That really makes no sense.

Got a call today from Suncoast about the Autobot Steelbook I preordered back in September. They wanted to make sure I was going to pick it up Tuesday, and told me I was lucky because they only got 16 Steelbooks total at their store.

From what I've read on some sites it looks like a lot of stores are not even getting enough for the preorders. One employee posted pictures of the Steelbooks and said they got 22 in for over 50 preorders.

The Steelbooks are similar to the Futureshop ones, but are more of a dark metallic silver instead of black.

Wal Mart says they have some sort of extra disc witha prequel story on it narrated by Peter Cullen, the voice of Optimus Prime. May be worth getting?
