[quote="Super Aurora"]here some fairytales, folktales, and other world myth and stories that not animated yet that Disney can tackle:

Snow White and Red Rose- no this isn't Snow White and 7 dwarfs. they could easily change title of story.

Please, that one!!! Go for it Disney!!!
What could they want more, two princesses plus two princes. Great merchandise!

Some peple are talking about Sailor Moon which was one of my favorite shows when I was little!! I love it, though I hardly like any other animes.
The bad thing about Sailor Moon in the US is that it was cut enormously and even whole episodes seem to have vanished in the US.
This is better in Germany where we had all episodes uncut!!! I love the 2 part Season 1 finale of Sailor Moon best.
Disney could make Princess Serenity a Disney princess.

I know Disney didn't tackle epic legends and myth as well like Hercules and Atlantis but if they tried hard enough, they could pull it off.

I wish they tackle a epic legend/story that is set in either celtic, or scandinavian countires with hero, a quest, mystical land, an enchanted princess, and a evil overlord. with these elements they can make it great.

The other I wish is tackle a Japanese legend, since they got a Chinese one, why not Japanese? With anime fans going all about, why not? lol

This one might be the last choice of mine Disney would do but, do a movie based on Angels and Lucifer down fall. Disney never tackled a bible story before so why not in the future? The title could be called the Dark Angel.

I think if Disney tackled a Bible story it would be a bit controversial. I think they should probably stay away from that. If they do a Catholic Story then Christians Jews and Muslims would probably be offended that they didn't do something out of there book. I think sticking with myths would be better. Or maybe something historical.

I would actually be interested in disney doing an animated story happening in modern time but then throwing some sort of magical element into it sorta like studios ghibli's whisper of the hert, or the cat returns.

The Wild Swans

Far away from here there once lived a king who had eleven sons and one daughter, Elisa. The children were happy until the king married a wicked queen who sent Elisa away and turned her brothers into wild swans.

When Elisa turned fifteen she went in search of her brothers. She reached the ocean and here she saw eleven swans wearing gold crowns. Just then the sun set, the feathers fell away, and before her stood her brothers! They told her that during the day they were swans, but at night they turned back into princes. They lived far across the ocean and only once a year, when the days were the longest, did they dare to cross the ocean to visit their home country.

The swans carried Elisa across the ocean in a net, stopping for the night on a tiny rock island. When they reached the shore Elisa prayed to God for help and she dreamt that she could save her brothers by making each a shirt that was knit from nettles. However, once she started knitting she must not speak a word until the task was completed, otherwise the first word spoken would kill her brothers. Elisa immediately started on her task, her hands and arms burning and blistering from the nettles.

The country’s king saw Elisa and fell in love with her. He took her back to his castle, away from her nettles and shirts. Elisa could not speak and so could not explain her task, but when the king saw how unhappy she was, he gave her a room in the castle where he placed her nettles and shirts. Here Elisa continued to knit.

When Elisa started the seventh shirt she ran out of nettles. She therefore went at night to collect more nettles from the graveyard, for only nettles from a graveyard could be used. The archbishop urged the king to follow Elisa night after night as she went to the graveyard and when the king saw the wicked witches at the graveyard, he thought Elisa one of these.

The people decreed that Elisa should be burned. But Elisa continued to knit, even in her prison cell and as she was carried on a cart to the pyre. Just as the executioner grabbed her, the eleven wild swans swooped down. Elisa quickly threw the shirts over them and there stood eleven beautiful princes! The youngest still had a swan wing instead of one of his arms for the shirt was not completed.

The people saw that Elisa was innocent and the king placed a white rose over her heart. The church bells rang on their own and there was a wedding procession back to the castle, such as no king had seen before.

LOL. uh I don't really know what the story would be but it would be interesting to see a story placed today instead of like the 16th century or whenever fairytales are supposed to be placed.

I think "whisper of the heart" is one of Miyazaki's best. It wouldn't be interesting to see if Disney could do something in that style, although Miyazaki will always have the upper hand on that style.

I don't remeber controversity happening when Dreamwork made Prince of Egypt. besides, there's bond to have some slight changes to fit the story correctly. Also Most bible stories a re very vauge for it to tune out as an actual story so some liberities must be taken to fully flesh out the story.

The angel deal is only Jewish and Christians. I don't think Muslums believe heavily on the angel mythology.

Sure it can piss some people off but again, you can't please everyone.

The Wild Swan seems good(I think I listed that) but I feel there's too many charatcers(all those princes).

As for modern day setting, didn't Oliver and Co was set in Modern NYC?

I listed it. 11 is just a number. Disney could easily reduce it down to 5 or 6 and make Elisa slow at making the shirts. But to make it more Disney, there would be more magic, and suspense. And I think that she would finish the last shirt, we don't want 1 armed princes running around!

God Save the Princes

The Sequel of Disney, I liked your telling of The Wild Swans. To avoid some controversy, they'll probably have to take God's name out of it, but she could pray like Snow White did, without mentioning his name, or maybe the princess could wish instead of pray for help. Also, I don't understand why she's not alllowed to talk. Is it because God didn't want her revealing that he was helping her? It doesn't make sense, sort of like how he turns people into pillars of salt just because they look back at him destroying a city. "I'll help you save your brothers...but talk and I'll kill them!"

Thanks! Yeah, I could see some controversy, wishing is good though. I really don't know why she doesn't talk either, but your idea soudns great. I can just hear the villian, "I'll help you save your brothers....but if you tell (dramatic pause) death!"

i don't see why having God's name in a disney movie is bad. I mean Hunchback Had loads of Christain references, and I didn't hear or see problem with that movie, if i'm not wrong.

Mentioning God or religion in a Disney film isn't a bad idea. Yet the makers probably should, however, try and avoid using a deity figure of sorts (be it Jesus, Allah, Buddah or whoever) as an actual character, as some could argue that Disney is trying to shove a religion down a certain person's throat if they do so. They generally have done so in the past, and probably will do so for years to come.

Well, I'm coming into the "deity in a Disney animated film" discussion without having read what started it, but my take on it is this:

Any studio, including Disney, shouldn't be afraid of the mere mension of a deity if it isn't in a negative light. Every Disney movie has something that offends someone, I'm sure. You just can't beat that problem. Of course, dealing with a deity as a character or dealing with religious subject matter is very different. I feel it would be a bad idea and in bad taste to make a movie where a deity is a character if the story is not from traditional teachings regarding that deity, and if the deity is treated with anything less than the utmost respect. An example would be "The Prince of Egypt." I LOVED this film (though I haven't seen it in a while), and wasn't it pretty successful? I wouldn't mind Disney making a few Bible films myself, if they treated the material with that much respect. Actually, I'd like just a tad more respect, since I believe Prince of Egypt did make a change or two to the story. Now, Disney has handled the Noah's Ark story at least a couple of times in animation (And in live action, remember that Tony Danza TV film? Ugh, that was in bad taste I felt). Disney also has "The Small One," which I know many people pass of as bland, but I also know it brings many to tears (and I adore it as a Christmas tradition).

The thing best about the angel story if they can do one is that no one can accurrately say, "this is wrong",or "No, that not how it when" or "You forgot this scene" etc. So when you made the story off of something that has no exact history or literiture record, it hard to make up an arguement against something to no claim to.

Since I'm studying cartooning, and animation, I wish to become an animation director even for disney. I wish to pass this idea for them if they like it. With Lassenter on the team, and his love for good stories, i don't see why he wouldn't. :)

I personally think that if they do a bible story from say the new testement then they will need have to do something from the torah or karan. I think if they only favored say catholisism or christianinty then it would upset people from another religion. And since Christianity is the greater religion of the United States I think they would more then likely choose it as the religion to base a movie on. Therefore I think Disney is better off sticking with what they are good at, Myths, Fairytales and original stories. Leave the contreversial material to studios that don't have as much of a following.

Now back to the topic on hand cause this could go on forever about the religious debate and I don't think this is really the place for it. So back to fairytales!

They could do a take on Noah's Ark. Have the animals talk and have the story from the animals point of view.

doing a Noah's ark story would be awesome.

I think tha's hitting the nail on the head. the New Testatment of the bible is more "Christianity-based" than the old testament. Which is why you see more movies like "Moses" or "Joesph" animated than something like the last supper.

Part of the reason that The Prince of Egypt wasn't met with controversy is that it was made by Dreamworks, a studio owned by Steven Speilberg, a known Jewish man. The story of Moses factors majorly into Jewish history.
If Disney was to tackle a story from the Bible, they would be better off foing from the Old Testament. Those stories are more well-known and can be construed as many different religons or just inspirational. The New Testament is about Jesus, who is the major figure in Christianity, and only Christianity.
