Okay, so I present you all with good news and bad news.

I was at Best Buy today, and I saw a gorgeous stack of Mrs. Doubtfire DVDs sitting gracefully upon the shelves. Thankfully, it didn't come with that hideous slipcover as shown in the picture that I posted a few posts up.

But as for the bad news...
it's exactly the same as the original release. Same cover, same disc, same everything. Not one thing has changed...including the fact that it's not in anamorphic widescreen.

I'll be picking up my copy soon. Probably on Tuesday with Cars. I didn't buy it today because I figured I didn't need to spend anymore dough.

DAMMIT!!!

At least the extras are the same, I've read they're pretty good.

If there REALLY was a re-release of the Ms Doubtfire DVD, DVDActive.com would've posted the info MONTHS before it was released.

Oh, and the idea of a Ms Doubtfire 2 is just absured. That would be like making another Home Alone (oh wait, they already did that). Just goes to you how uncreative Hollywood is getting these days.

There was a re-release. There's proof of it just two posts above yours.

Hmm. Not horrible... I don't like the big gaping white space above the title, and it's not as good as the original, and I really dislike goofy special edition names, but, hey, if the special features wind up good, I won't gripe.

I think that the cover looks great. Hate tht every other studio is now copying Disney's shameful special edition name, but it's still looking good. Hope the extras are good. A Robin Williams and Sally Field commentary would be good. It'd also be nice to see a featurette on where the child stars are now. I loved Mara Wilson in this Miracle on 34th Street, A Simple Wish and Matilda. Sucks that she's at college now. But I digress.

Yes, but where's the set-top games like "Run By Fruiting"? And what about an "It's A Dinosaurus Line!" Music Video?

Now that's a lame joke. :P

I'm really glad I didn't cave in and buy the reissued release I saw at Best Buy a few months back. All of those bonus features look great! I'm looking forward to having Mrs. Doubtfire in my DVD collection, as it is one of my favorite films.

Final-freaking-ly! I was so confused about why this was announced, earlier, with the terrible "o-ring" package, then, when it finally hit stores, it was the same DVD that had already been released! I'm so glad I didn't pick up that release, but, this upcoming release will be mine!

The cover art is okay, but the Behind-The-Seams title is annoying! Also, I would remove that "She'll Rock Your World!" quote!

Could we please get over the edition name and just be glad that this wonderful movie is finally getting the DVD treatment it deserves? It is the movie we're after anyway, right?

Um, I hate to bump an old thread, but where in the world is our re-release? Wasn't it supposed to come out today? I just searched Amazon, as well as many other online retailers, and nobody even has it listed!

It looks like it's been cancelled...
