Hi I'm a new member and am wondering if anyone out there knows ANYTHING about this long overdue dvd release. I have been in regular contact with Disney UK and keep being told that nothing is happening due to an ongoing copyright issue. Also if (and it it seems a big if!) it is released will it be complete?

Strangely enough I just got a reply from BVHE this morning, I was going to post it anyway as I was quite surprised at what I received.

Here it is a direct copy and paste, the spelling and grammar areas were in the email from BVHE.

Make Mine Music is a part of are Disney Classics and as such is a Moratorium
release. This means that it is only are re-released every 5 -10 years and
are not permanently in stock.

However we have no plans at present to releases Make Mine Music in the
foreseeable future. But you may be able to find these titles new or used
online. We recommend www.amazon.co.uk or www.play.com for used copies.

But ladies and gentlemen, weirdness is all part of what makes BVHE UK <strike>special</strike> crap.

Well, there's nothing that stops you from ordering it from any of the Scandinavian countries where it's already been released. The disc itself comes with full English menus, soundtrack and optional subtitles. So it should work just as well as any British DVD.

And unlike the US version, it's complete, except for some very small touch-ups of the girl's bosom in the segment "All the Cat's Join In".

Axel Music will ship internationally, and their site can be viewed in English if you click the appropriate flag in the top right corner.

Just would like to say thanks for getting back to me regarding the somewhat elusive Make Mine Music. I have had a look at the site that was recommended, but I think I would prefer to wait for an actual British release (it has to happen eventually, doesn't it!???).

As I make up from this thread, the pan-Scandinavian release of Make Mine Music is identical in all countries??

This Norwegian shop sends it worldwide for a lower price including shipping than the Danish AxelMusic. I live in The Netherlands, so I compare the prices in Euros. The Danish shop sells it to me (including shipping) for €32.20 and the Norwegian shop (including shipping) for €23.17.
Does anyone have any experience with BarneFilm?? Is it a reliable web shop?? The price of around €23.- (or US$30.72) seems quite reasonable for me.

Yes, all the Scandinavian editions are the same, only the language on the cover differs.

Sorry, I have no experience from shopping at barnefilm.no. You should be aware, though, that Norway is outside of the EU. So you might have to consider a possible risk of customs duties or taxes.

There should be no such problem with Denmark, since it's within the EU.

Well, you've got to ask yourself the question: Which is more important, watching the movie or reading the cover?

Well, I guess some of you may order from other non-EU countries from time to time, such as the U.S.A. so you may have an idea of how it works. Or would the EU be "harder" on Norway...?

It shouldn't be a problem importing the DVD into The Netherlands. Since it's only €23.- (including shipping), the customs won't stop it and add additional taxes. In The Netherlands (and probably also the other EU countries) you are free to import packages values up till €22.- (excluding shipping). So I think it is quite safe to order from Norway
The only thing now is this specific webshop's reliability

All right, I guess that's the closest one can get to a translation.

But thinking about it, the title "Make Mine Music" is indeed rather strange. Based on the English I learned at school, I'd say I could never come up with exactly that title... Can someone explain?

I don't know if this is correct, but I was told "Make Mine Music" comes from what one would say in a restaurant, for example, "Make mine a salad", or "make mine spicy" etc.

Maybe someone who's first language is English can explain it better.

Oh yes, in Finland also - although it was never released here until now - the film was known as "Iskelmäparaati". I'm quite glad they didn't use that title on the DVD.

Never thought about that, but it makes sense - everything falls into place now!

That's a very good explanation. Your English is excellent. You guys put us lazy Brits to shame when it comes to speaking other languages.

I'm beginning to think that we will never see this released in the UK and as soon as I've got some spare money I think I'm going to use axelmusic.

You know cornelius...maybe we should wait a teeny little bit more to see if MMM is in fact released in the UK. If it isn't, then there always is the good old Scandinavian version which anyone can get. I don't think most people are going to mind "Make Mine Music" written in some other language on the cover art, as long as they get the full version of the film (in English) on the disc.

I'm sure all you European collectors will be happy to get "Iskelmäparaati"! As for the "restaurant" motiv, I think there is something similar to restaurant menus all over the place, right? Wonder why this has never been mentioned in any of the "history books". Did no one think about it or did all the writers take it for granted?
