In it's first 7 days of release, Superman Returns has grossed $106 million domestically (and it made more money than Batman Begins's opening week). Even with Pirates 2 opening this week, I'm pretty sure Superman Returns will gross over $200 million by the time it goes out of theaters. (Like Batman Begins, Superman Returns will rely on word-of-mouth to maintain a steady foothold on the box office.)

I really loved the movie. I have seen it two times already, once on opening day and the second time on July 4th. It really is a triumphant return for Superman on the big screen and is a worthy companion film to last year's Batman Begins. Words can't describe how great it is. (If Joss Whedon can do the same thing with Wonder Woman next year, it'll be great.)

Now I really want a Batman vs. Superman movie, but give us two separate sequels to both Batman Begins and Superman Returns before doing so. I think David S. Goyer and the writers of Superman Returns ought to sit together and write their own script treatment instead of the one originally written by Akiva Goldsman and Andrew Kevin Walker.

I'm late in my reply here - but I just wanted to reiterate for those still sitting on the fence that this truly is an amazing movie.

It has it all - amazing special effects, talented actors/actresses, a great script, awesome director, plot surprises, something for everyone! Go see the movie!

For those of you who are parents, I would say that this movie is perfect for kids 10+. We don't have access to babysitters often, so we took four of our five kids with us - our almost-4 year old fell asleep through 3/4 of the movie (which was fine by us!) and the 8 and 9-year-olds were fidgety through the movie. The 10 year old was glued to the screen.

I wish I had the money to see it again soon, but the last of my weekly budget is going to Pirates on Saturday.
