Ok, I'm TOTALLY buying this. I'm a sucker for great packaging, good liner notes, awesome front and back cover art, and cool disc art, but it has to be a CD I'd want to buy whether it had amazing packaging or plain crap.

It's just that good packaging can make me decide to definitely buy a CD I want. (IE: Britney Spears' Greatest Hits ltd. ed., Gwen Stefain's L.A.M.B. ltd. ed., etc.)

You liked the artwork for Britney's greatest hits CD? *silence, crickets chirping* .....(just pickin')
Gwen Stefani = cool, though!
Anyway, I heard all of Back to Basics through less-than-great quality speakers (because I don't want to hear them in good quality until the release) and I feel safe to say that this album is like the Gone With the Wind/Wizard Of Oz/Titanic/Citizen Kane of MUSIC!!! Especially Disc 2.

I did, I did.

It was shiny and distracted me. The cover sucks though, cause it's not even her body.

And even if it was, it still sucks. But it's a digipack with awesome pics, video stills, pics of her album and single covers in collages, and a disc of remixes. That's my justification for buying a CD when I own most of the songs on her other CDs anyway.
However, the Gwen ltd. ed. is amazing! I won't geek you out with the details of that one...
How'd we get from Christina to Britney and Gwen?
Anyhoo...disc 1 doesn't really remind me of music from those movies, but disc 2 definitely does at many times. But much of it reminds me of Lena Horne, Bille Holliday, and Candyman sounds like a 40's or 50's Andrews Sisters hit to me.

I loved that fanmade cover, but the official one is nice too.
Thanks. I hate most of the ones I made now, but I'm always very critical of my work.

Oh, what I really meant was that
like the movies listed above, BTB has big bold production, carefully done, and it has a very high-budget feel and something likely to be remembered for a long time.
Interestingly, Christina has actually said straight from her mouth on the Z100 radio station that Candyman IS inspired by The Andrews Sisters... "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" particularly. Check it out, if you haven't heard it already.

Oh I loved Candyman the moment I heard it, which was when I downloaded the album. I refused to download the radio rips, cause they almost always suck. That plus I was still indifferent to ANOM at the time.
Yeah, I love stripped-down production as much as the next person, but it's nice that people still are willing to do big major productions in their music. But thanks for clearing up what you meant by that statement.

Cause I had a hard time comparing Over The Rainbow or Tara's Theme to any of the songs...well, Tara's Theme is dramatic like some of the ballads, so yeah. But I'm rambling now.
Now, IMO, you need to stop with your masochism and just listen to the MP3s with good speakers.

I may be a glutton for punishment myself, but I can't stand to listen to music through any inadequate system. And when I say inadequate, I don't mean cheap. I mean sound is muffled, scratchy, (Well, at least when it's muffled and scratchy when it's not SUPPOSED to be...) only comes out of one speaker, etc.

Me too, I thought it was the official cover until the new one started showing up on sites where you're able to pre-order the album.

MTV now has the entire album on The Leak until the album is released next week!
I decided to listen to it all through headphones on MTV. OMG, "Understand" is just wow! I looooooove her voice in that.

Thanks for informing me, I'm heading over there right now (I had a feeling it might get leaked on MTV.com).

Isn't she cute in this Candyman performance?

The sound is a bit out of sync; the quality is kind of bad.

I downloaded the album last week. It's okay. There are alot of bland songs and songs that she tries too hard to be 20s "jazzy" and it just comes of silly. She forces jazzy seduction instead of implying it. Her album comes up short, but there are a few good tracks.

Not much of a Christina fan, but if I'm not mistaken, her version of Reflection was released before the Mulan version.
