They did the same thing with the Ferngully 2-Disc release.
I would love to have a Thumbelina 2-Disc set.

Not quite. As I understand it, the 2-disc set is an anamorphic transfer, so it can't be the same. The old 1-disc release is definitely not anamorphic.
BATBFan1 wrote:So go get your copy of Anistasia today!
Well, the ferngully 2-Disc is the same because I compared and it is the same rusty bleeding color transfer.
And yeah the cover I think is really ugly but what's inside is all that counts.

and they didn't fix the ending which I had to suffer through again just to listen to commentary. Anastasia should have gone through the curtain.

Well, that is a good thing.

What suffering through that horrid ending. It makes me sick. She runs off and into a cinderella like dress ripping scene that makes my blood boil like the one in Cinderella then she and Dimitri run away as cowards afraid to goto the party making Marie waste time and effort arranging it.

I'm going to buy this movie, I'm actually very excited about it. I don't think it's the same transfer, I've read various reviews stating the picture quality is far superior than ever. According to the reviews I've read, the film's colors don't bleed, no over saturation of colors, no edge enhancements, and that the computer graphics stand out more in this transfer than before. Ofcourse I'll have to see the film and judge for myself, but I trust what I've read, plus I have the vhs i wanna upgrade to this dvd set. I don't understand why you guys are complaining about the title "Family Fun Edition" and the cover art, what's wrong with both those things? I think it's good 20th century fox is thinking outside the box, rather than just stamping "special Edition" on it just like everyone else. And the cover art, I could care less if it is ugly, I'm more anxious to see the film and could care less about the artwork. And I don't think this movie is horrible, I think any film that's not a Disney Animated film shouldn't be overlooked just because Disney didn't make it.

When I looked at that cover, I thought "Geeez!! That's got to be one of the ugliest things I've ever seen!" Now I'm usually not one to complain about cover art, but that is really ugly.
No, it's not the waist that makes it horrendous. Nor is it the "Family Fun Edition" stamped on top. Actually it would be gorgeous if only Anastasia's face didn't make her look like a flipping retard! Just look at that chin...it must be at least 24 fathoms longer than the way you see it in the film. Look at her eyes...they make her look like an alcoholic. Look at her smirk...it gives the impression of fossils embedded into Anastasia's flesh (whatever that means)...
Talk about a teeny little bit off model. I think everyone should stop complaining about Disney DVDs and take a glimpse at this.

I was browsing through walmart.com and was looking for Anastasia. They have the movie itself for $14.99, and they also have FernGully/Anastasia for $8.44. Doesn't it seem weird that it's cheaper if you buy both instead of by itself? I'll link the webpage, hopefully one of you guys can help me chose. To me it seems sort of weird.

Things are always cheaper in bulk.

Did any of you guys know that Anastasia could have possibly never been made? According to some imformation on 20th Century Fox, the creator had a choice. He could have adapted My Fair Lady as an animated film or Anastasia, but he ended up choosing Anastasia. It is said that if My Fair Lady had been chosen that it would have made far more money at the box office, but I guess everything happens for a reason.

Really? I thought the dvd included both widerscreen and fullscreen? Why would they make a fullscreen edition only, when it's already included in one dvd?

Nevermind although they list FULLFRAME the "more info tab" list Disk 1: "Anastasia" (Widescreen); Director/Producer Commentary by Don Bluth and Gary Goldman; Interactive Feature: Learn to Draw Anastasia "Anya"; Interactive Feature: Learn to Draw Dimitri; Interactive Feature: Learn to Draw Rasputin; Interactive Feature: Learn to Draw Bartok; Anastasia Music Box Favorites, Disk 2: "Bartok the Magnificent" (Full Screen); "The Making of Anastasia: Creating the Story, Defining Characters, Creating of Animation, & Music in the Air"; Sing Along: "Once Upon a December;" Sing Along: "Learn to Do It;" Interactive Feature Learn to Sing it in a Different Language: "Once Upon a December;" Set Top Games; Explore the Palace (3D Walk Through); Becoming a Princess (Interactive Paper Doll); Putting Rasputin Back Together Again (timed puzzle game); Ink and Paint to Help Anya Remember her Past (Interactive coloring book); Aaliyah: "Journey to the Past" music video/ Making of, Featurette...
but why would they have to separate prices for the same item ;??

Yeah I thinks it's strange that they're selling the same dvd for a much cheaper price in the same site. I think I'm just gonna get it at Bestbuy.com. I was hoping Walmart would be chaeper, but it's about the same.

Forget her face...check out her body!!!!
She must be wearing a waist cincher!!! It would be a miracle if she could breathe!!
Here is a screencap of her wearing the same dress to compare the horrible cover to the real thing
I never did get the original DVD and wish I did. I got the Family Fun edition for my daughter for X-mas. But its nothing specatcular. The DVD, I mean. I found the movie to be very entertaining. One of my favorite Bluth films

Goodness! My Fair Lady would have made a wonderful animated film!!! He should make both movies! Anyway, I found an other edition of the Anastasia 2-disc dvd and here it is:

Not many diferrences but I totally prefer it than the R1 Family Fan Edition. What do you guys think?

But she's still looking much better than in the R1 cover!

From what I heard they didn't do My Fair Lady because they couldn't get the rights to it.
Where did you find that new edition of Anastasia?

Hmm, if I tell you it won't be an "Aladdin from Agrabah's
EXCLUSIVE" any more!
Anyway, I found it in amazon.co.uk
