That's an interesting article. I wonder if the 3-pack DVD comment was innocent or if we're in for a box set like the Matrix 10-disc set.

Hmm...then I wonder what the title could be. Anothe rumored one is Uncharted Waters, but I like At World's End better. They even say "to world's end" at the end on DMC. But I expect I will like (or grow to like) whatever they use.

Two sites have posted pictures of Chow Yun-Fat, as he will appear in Pirates of the Caribbean 3. The sites are MonkeyPeaches.com and WheresTheRum.com.

In an interview over at Boxofficemojo.com the writers say they're campaigning for "At World's End" to be the title.

how about we make up a few titles of our own in anticipation for part 3?? :D

Pirates of the Caribbean: Singapore Showdown
Pirates of the Caribbean: Spoiler Title : Barbossa's Apple-Eating-Contest
Pirates of the Caribbean: Revenge of the Sparrow

come on, only ten more months!

Well, this idea got scrapped for the sequel, however, does anyone think there's still a chance it could be called "Treasure of the Lost Abyss"?I remember there was a rumor for the story of the sequel, involving the "Lost Abyss" which was the first ship to sail on the Caribbean, which I think could be the ship Tia Dalma will give Barbossa and his gang.

Very little chance, but it could be possible. :P

I hope they stick with "at worlds end" (even though I don't think its the best one) just because it would flow from the 2nd to 3rd one. btw, Chow Yun Fat looks like he is gonna make one spiffy pirate.

I've been out of town for a few weeks and haven't had a chance to see POTC2 yet. However, a friend blabbed the ending to me, so your comment didn't bother me. But this topic doesn't have a spoiler warning, so, in the future, if you could put a warning on replies like this one, that would be great. Thanks.

Well, I think a spoiler warning is implied when we are talking about the 3rd film. It would be very hard to discuss what we think is going to happen without mentioning the cliff-hanger ending.

True, but this topic was started in December--long before anyone here had seen the movie (and so it wasn't a spoiler topic until recently). Also, the topic title only mentions posters and news. I viewed the topic because I wanted to see a poster. I read the rest of the thread without considering that some recent posts might have spoilers. So, yes, it was mostly ignorance on my part, but the topic title was (a tad bit) misleading.

Still, like I said, nothing was spoiled for me personally. I just can't wait to see this movie on Thursday so I won't have to worry about it anymore and can then open that fun little DMC Spoiler Space thread.

Thematically, At World's End is a fine subtitle for the third movie. However, it irks me to have a preposition start the subtitle. World's End sounds better to me, even though it makes it sound more apocalyptic.

Pirates 3 Gets a Name?

Disney denies title announcement.

by Jeff Otto

July 10, 2006 - In the midst of reporting the massive Spidey-killing opening of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest this past weekend, Box Office Mojo is reporting that the third film will be titled At World's End. A few other sites, including IMDB, are listing the new title as official.

A Disney rep told IGN FilmForce that At World's End is NOT THE TITLE of the third film and that these early reports are false. Disney says that a title to the third film will surface in the next few months.

Additionally, the supposed poster that has surfaced online recently is not the film's official key art. It is simply a place-holder cobbled together for a trade show to help with merchandising for the third movie. However, it is worth nothing that the mock-up's Asian theme is a hint about the third film's storyline. Actor Chow Yun-Fat is set to play pirate Sao Feng in the soon-to-be-titled Pirates 3.

Whatever its name may be, Pirates 3 is slated for release Memorial Day Weekend, 2007.

After the gigantic opening of Dead Man's Chest this weekend, the question of more Pirates films beyond the trilogy looms.

Johnny Depp has already said he's up for more Pirates films, but director Gore Verbinski seems content with the idea of leaving it at a trilogy.

"Right now, it's about finishing the trilogy," Verbinski told IGN FilmForce. "After that, whatever happens happens. I think the benefit of doing the two films together is not just the benefit of managing your assets and amortizing certain costs, but it's also about, when are you going to get the team back together? Because everyone's so busy doing different things."

"So, you can talk about a fourth movie, but right now it's a lot of talk. It's a nice sign that Johnny still wants to [do it]. That character fits so well. But, I think, for me you've got to look at the three-pack DVD and go, 'Yeah, that's a whole story.'"

Nope don't end the franchise make Pirates of the Caribbean 4: At World's End Again. LOL

Yes, The Haunted Mansion was a horrible idea.

This is the best idea Disney had in a long time don't make it fade out.
POTC can be the new version of Star Wars. LOL

Trilogies are better than Quadrilogies

Star Wars should have stopped at three as well. Anakin's story could have been left to books or something.

IGN.com is reporting that the final name for Pirates of the Caribbean 3 is, in fact, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.

Pirates 3 Title Confirmed
Screenwriter spills the beans.
by IGN Staff

September 1, 2006 - Screenwriter Terry Rossio has straight-up confirmed the full title for the third Pirates of the Caribbean film over on his website, Worldplayer.com. Despite initial denials of the studio to the contrary, Rossio claims that the film will be subtitled At World's End. In a post on the message boards, Rossio states that it was down to "Worlds End" or "At Worlds End" and that the latter ultimately won out -- he also notes some debate about the use of the apostrophe.

He says, "When you seen the alternatives side by side in text, Worlds End is cleaner-looking on a poster and in print. And for some, it invoked the theme of 'end of an era' better; whereas the At Worlds End pushed the double-meaning more towards a specific location."

The third film in the swashbuckling trilogy will see all of the principle cast return from the first two films and will add Chow Yun-Fat to the mix as pirate Sao Feng.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End sets sail on the big screen on Memorial Day 2007. Keep watching IGN for the latest!

Goodness, why did they have to tease us like that? I thought for sure it wasn't AWE when we were told it officially wasn't!

Oh well, I like the title anyway. Hopefully we'll get a trailer soon.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Uncharted Waters? I thought it was called Pirates of the Caribbean at worlds end, oh well I'm not bothered about the name I'm just really really really looking forward to seeing it. The first 2 films were awsome so I have high expectations for this one, I just hope it is not a let down like, dare I say it the Matrix 3. (It pains me to say that as I am a huge huge matrix fan) I have so many questions about the 3rd instalment of the POTC trilogy, Will Disney choose a name and stick with it? Will they save Jake? If so how? Will Will be damned to serve on the Flying Dutchman for ever, & will he ever marry Elizabeth? & why is barbosa still alive?
