Hey I hope they have the little parts from inbetween the Videos (the re-vocied scenes and new scenes to tie the cartoons to the tapes theme) and the sing-a-long Theme song as extras they were kind of cool.

Also if they put Wakko's Wish on DVD do you think WB will put on its own DVD or on a upcoming boxed set as a bouns type thing?

Heheh. I actually used the "Wakko's America" song to study for a test in high school on the state capitals. I aced it, too :D

My favorite episode was the Goodfeathers skit that was a sendup of "West Side Story", complete with musical numbers, where the two pigeon gangs have a turf war over a beloved statue of Martin Scorcese ("Why can't we perch on Scor-ce-se's head, why can't we perch on Scor-ce-se's head..."). Brilliant stuff 8)

i loved the original series w/ the crazy cast of new characters- wasnt a fan of the pinky & the brain show tho...but i did enjoy their slots in the series- just not 30 minutes of it straight. go fig.

Simpsons MSRP is about the same, so based on that I'm guessing you could find it for about $29.99-$31.99 that first weekend.

About $34.99 thereafter at Wal-mart.

Sounds about right. Discount retailers like Best Buy have the Disney Afternoon volume one sets for around $34 and Spongebob Squarepants season sets for about $37-40, so somewhere in that neighborhood probably, although discount online sellers may have them for around $30 even after the first couple of weeks. I assume these are going to be slim case sets? (which I like, since they don't take up as much space and each disc still has its own box).

My guess is they'll be packaged similar to Batman, Looney Toons and other WB animation properties.

Season Sets are killing me for space. I am huge animation fan so it's getting to the point that with TV shows and movies I'm going to need a big wall unit shelf to store them all.

Yes, thats how Warner Brothers has decided to package their sets. I'm happy about it, I hated those digipaks they we're using with double trays (especially double-sided discs).

At least WB doesn't use those crummy carboard DVD cases anymore...or do they? God, I hate those things. You shouldn't have to buy the special edition of a movie just to get a decent keep case :P

I hope this is a good enough reason to bump this thread:

I found the video on youtube and just had to share it.

Beware: I am not going to be held responsible if the video causes you to be more anxious and less patient for the DVD. :P

Steven Spielberg Presents…

ANIMANIACS VOLUME 1
And
PINKY AND THE BRAIN VOLUME 1

Two DVDs Sure To Make You Zany To The Max!

Available July 25, 2006 from Warner Home Video!

Burbank, CA (April 19, 2006) – Lock the Warner water tower and guard the laboratory because the Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain are escaping to DVD on July 25, 2006 from Warner Home Video. For the first time, fans can own Animaniacs Volume 1 including 25 episodes featuring the crazy Yakko, Wakko, Dot and crew. Fans can also add to their classic animation DVD collection the 22 episodes from the Emmy nominated series Pinky and the Brain as they attempt to take over the world in Pinky and The Brain Volume 1. Both DVDs are priced to own for $44.98 each and have an order date of June 20, 2006.

Follow the adventures or misadventures of the Warner Brothers, Yakko and Wacko, and the Warner Sister, Dot, in Animaniacs Volume 1. Executive produced by Steven Spielberg, the ensemble cast of off-the-wall Warner Bros. characters, appear in a wide variety of roles as they continuously escape the water tower and run amuck all over the Warner Lot. Animaniacs Volume 1 is a 5 disc collectors set filled with over 12 hours of zany adventures along with DVD bonus materials including Animaniacs Live! featuring comic Maurice LaMarche hosting an in studio style interview via satellite big screen TV with Animaniac friends as they comment on the historical show.

The witty, slapstick humor with pop culture parodies and cartoon wackiness is a must own for all collectors of classic animation. Animaniacs first aired on Fox where it ran successfully for 2 years. The show then appeared on The WB as part of the "Kids WB" afternoon block.

Pinky and the Brain are two laboratory mice living at Acme Labs whose genes have been spliced. Before each night is over they scheme to formulate a plan to conquer the world. The Brain is a genius who leads the master plan, whereas Pinky is quite insane and the comedic relief for the series.

Pinky and The Brain Volume 1 is a 4 disc collectors set, with 22 fun-filled, classic episodes from Steven Spielberg, executive producer of the Emmy nominated series. Observe Pinky and The Brain take on each attempt to conquer the world with a dry wit and humor. Originally aired on the WB Television Network, these are two mice allowed to enter your living room!

"We are very excited to bring these two one-of-a-kind animation shows to DVD," said Dorinda Marticorena, WHV Vice President WHV Vice President, Kids and Sports Marketing. "Fans of both shows have been eagerly asking about their availability on DVD and even created a petition gathering over 9,000 signatures. We are happy to make these fantastic boxed DVD sets available to their core fans as well as a new generation of animation viewers."

Animaniacs Volume 1 special features include:
-ANIMANIACS LIVE! - Comic Maurice LaMarche hosts an in studio style interview via satellite big screen TV with Animaniac friends as they comment on the historical show.

Sweet. Looks like I'll be hittin' up Deep Discount DVD in a couple of months!

Although if the Animaniacs set doesn't have the episode with "Meatballs or Consequences", I am going to be very put out :D

My 2 cents: If they make it a seperate release, they will have to predict if it will make enough on its own otherwise WB will just stick it in one of the four volumes. It would be a waste if they don't make many sales and give it a seperate release.

Anyone worried if there won't be enough sales for Animaniacs altogether for WB to release volumes 2-4? It seems a lot of fans from other forums will only buy Pinky & the Brain or are waiting for Freakazoid.

I'd wager that Animaniacs is still probably the most popular of the three. I've seen a fair amount of online support for the upcoming DVD set, and I think a lot of folks are planning on getting both Animaniacs and P&TB at some point.

As for Freakazoid, I think that show has a small but very loyal fan base who might be a bit put off about all the shows that are getting released before their favorite. I've seen a lot of online wishing for Tiny Toons as well; sometimes folks just like to complain about TV shows whose future is yet undetermined (not that that's a bad thing...)

Amazon has both Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain for $31.49 (qualifying both for free shipping!). Also, there are major language spec updates for both sets. Each set will have English Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 Stereo options, as well as Brazilian Portuguese 1.0 mono tracks. French, Spanish, and Portuguese subtitles will be included as well. (Deep Discount DVD and Warner Home Video has the same info for both sets, so they're pretty much correct on this.)

These sets are going to sell like hot cakes. Just imagine how the theme songs (among other things) are gonna sound great in 5.1 surround sound. Glad Warner was smart to do this. :D

1. Yay for selling like hot cakes! Volume 2 should follow behind then. :)
2. It's time to remind my parents about getting surround sound for our plasma tv we bought back in January.

What's weird is that I could care less about the bonus features, maybe because I know Spielberg doesn't do commentaries at all. I'm really, really excited for this DVD release...but I can wait, by the time this arrives summer will be half over for me.

Edit: If you search CircuitCity.com, they have it for $34.99 so stores won't price it retail! And with such anticipation for Animaniacs, they should have a sale price during the first week.

As long as you don't buy it at Borders & Noble (;)), you should be able to find it for less than list price. Perhaps some stores will have a "Buy one get the other for $20" or something offer if you buy both Animaniacs and P&TB at the same time. That would probably help boost the sales for both, and further ensure future releases.

I haven't been this impatient for a dvd since...Toy Story. I guess it hasn't been that long. :P

What I first looked for was the website for Animaniacs. I was hoping the back would contain a web address all about its release (with downloads & games). The interesting thing is the Animaniacs back has "classiccartoons.com" which is a fan site and is not a WB site. Whilst the P&TB has "classiccartoonsdvd.com" which is a WB authentic site.

But a quick note about the pictures on the cover for Animaniacs, Yakko looks constipated. I know he's having trouble carrying his siblings but couldn't Warner change his face expression to a more happier face?

Oh yeah, I almost forgot! :P

Presenting:
Cutie and the Beast
Relive the crazy antics of the Warner Brothers and the Warner Sister in "Cutie and the Beast"

I can't tell you how excited I am about this!!! Freakazoid would have been my first choice, but all in due time. I know how to be patient and I'm certainly not gonna complain. ;)

This is gonna bring back so many memories!!! :D
