The first Disney movie I saw in theater was Duck Tales, the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, when I was five years old. I remember nothing about it, except that my dad took me to see it and I got a large theatrical poster of it afterward. I remember seeing Beauty and the Beast a few years later with my dad, uncle and nieces. And again a few years later a re-issue of The Jungle Book. The first film I actually remember was A Goofy Movie.

Okay time to prick the old memory bank on this one.

I remember very very vaguely that I saw 101 Dalmatians. The only thing I remember is that I dropped a bouncy ball under the theater seat and I wanted to go grab it, but my mom said no to wait. During that time I was wanting the movie to get over to get my bouncy ball that I dropped. I think I was more obsessed with getting the bouncy ball than watching the actual movie

I'm not even sure my mom remembers this. It almost feels like a distant dream and it's really foggy but then again being 4 years old at the time 22 years ago, that's extraordinary I remember seeing it at all.

My memory is a little more clear of seeing Snow White in the 90s. I remember my babysitter took a bunch of kids to see it. I remember seeing the poster in front of the movie theater, but that's where the memory ends.

My mom told me she was pregnant with me when she watched Bambi in theaters. I was born in February 1985 and the last time Bambi was re-released in theaters before I was born was in 1982 (and the first time it's re-released after I was born was in 1988) so the theater my mom watched Bambi at somehow lucked out obtaining the film's reels.

I try to think of what the first Disney film I saw in theaters with my own eyes is and I can only think of watching The Lion King at a drive-thru theater when I was nine. I'll have to ask my mom if she remembers what the first Disney film I saw in theaters is.

A Goofy Movie was my first, but Mulan was the first that I actually have memories of seeing.

The very first movie I saw in a theatre was Honey I Blew Up the Kid. The first animated one I saw in a theatre was Aladdin that same year. The only re-release I ever caught prior to more recent 3D reissues was when my dad took my brother and me to see Snow White during Thanksgiving of 1993.

Disney was a prominent part of my childhood.

It was a Pixar movie. Probably Toy Story 2, although I can't remember any of the first viewing.

Although it may not have been the very first DAC I saw in theatres (Atlantis and New Groove are certainly possibilities), the first I can recall seeing is Lilo and Stitch. It remains one of my all-time favourites.

The first Disney film I saw in any medium was either The Jungle Book or Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, both of which are integral pieces of my childhood.

Mine was Tarzan,it was actually the first movie I saw in theatres. I remember the score as amazing,and the animation was the best I've seen from Disney that time. I actually thought it was dark for a cartoon film. (Well.....I did cry watching HOND on vhs.The scenes of Quasi's humiliation and Phoebus being shot by an arrow.) I liked the non-dialogue aspects of the film. The talking from Turf and the Elephant just annoyed me. Jane made me lol. She was relateable. (Yeah, I was not an athletic steroid preschooler.Dainty)

When I look back at it,I still hold the same opinions. Looking back on The Little Mermaid,has a different effect. I realize how sexual it was. (That's not a bad thing) Aladdin has the same effect. Go watch it.Aladdin and Jasmine have the most intense sexual attraction to each other compared to other Disney couples.

Really? Can you explain further? I've never observed anything sexual in TLM, especially considering Ariel's desire is more to do with becoming part of the human world rather than pursuing Eric.

I was hoping you wouldn't ask that Dr. Frakenollie. I was also expecting some response like what Goliath posted.

Ofcourse, Ariel's desire is innoecent.Even Eric's intentions are good.Guys his age screw around while Eric waits for his girl. But the conflict of this narrative is repression. Ariel gives up her voice;therefor,Ursula advises Ariel to use...you guessed it-BODY LANGUAGE! This doesn't mean TLM is sexist. It portrays seduction as negative.

The Aladdin and Jasmine thing is more intense than this,IMO.

Really?! TLM has very overtly sexualy themes. Like Candy already mentioned, there's the whole "body language" part; it's about Ariel seducing Eric with her appearance, because that's all she's got at that point. Even aside from the fact that she is deliberately drawn very sexually attractive, this is clearly a tale about a young girl getting away from her father's morals and values to pursue a 'forbidden' adult relationship.

If I remember correctly, in this book John Grant states that Disney's version of The Little Mermaid is basically a metaphor for sexual awakening, which always made perfect sense to me. Ariel's growing up, seeking her independence, and gets lines from her father that could be reinterpreted as the kind of talk young teenage girls often get about the dangers of boys.

Actually,I just realized Tarzan was not the first movie I saw in theatres.I saw A Bug's Life. And guess what?
I thought Antz was better-but that is my preference of humour.

Hercules was the first one I saw, but I don't remember that much about the actual movie.

Can't remember, but I'm pretty damn sure it was Snow White...

The first Disney movie Isaw was the 1959 re-release of Dumbo. I was six years young.Love disney ever since!

The first Disney film I saw in the theaters was "The Rescuers Down Under" in 1991, when I was 4 years old. I don't remember much about it except for the cheesy German ending song. xD
Disney films always* have been shown during the holiday season here and it became a tradition in my family to go to the cinema every year and see the newest animated classic. I live in a different town now and don't see my family as often as I used to, but at Christmas I'm at home of course and we still do it. So there is only one DAC I missed in the theaters since 1991 and that is "Chicken Little" (which is not really a loss ).
