Whilst I am not interested in the soon to be released
Chicken Little, from what is coming out of this
Rapunzel production, I am excited for that more. It may signal a new golden age for Disney and I can't wait for this film to appear.

Our Good Friends at imdb wrote:Sick to death of storybook endings where true love conquers all, a frustrated witch brings two romantically-challenged teenagers from the real world into the classic fairytale, and transforms them into the legendary long-haired heroine and her gallant prince.
Very interesting premise. But can they deliver the goods? I predict an ending where they get over their differences, fall in love in fairy tale world, and end up back in the real world,
where they decided to go against the cliques of the teenager social pyramid, and stay together, living happily ever after until they graduate, during which they'll go to different colleges, see each other during the summer and the occasional weekend, before both admit they're seeing someone else...

It is very good news that the film will not be Shrek like, hopefully it has a lot better music then CL did also.

Wow...good article GhostHost! Thank you for posting it!
I was gonna post some quotes of the key points, but the whole article seems important. So for all you lazy ppl, just click on the link and read. It's not very long anyway and we learn about how Reese Whitherspoon had quite a major role in the project. Key word: had.
Hmmmmmm...in the long run, this is really good news! But in the short run, it's not. All that work of preproduction and now they're cutting it a part and revising it. Not only that, but it will take longer for the movie to premiere! Hopefully this won't be like Black Cauldron where they keep having story problems then some new guy comes in and cuts it up himself and then it flops in theaters. I hope Disney remembers their other movies and look to them for help. Especially the classics that Walt had laid his hand upon in telling the story. They need to go back to the original original text, pick out what works and is worth telling and change some aspects so they apply to the morals and value of our society. (e.g. the original text of Sleeping Beauty would've been appalling for families of the late 1950s and even today...the original story of Pinnochio made him a brat so Disney changed him into a more lovable character...).
I guess some good news in the long run is that if they do this right, we might get another Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin, which also have started out with story problems as JH mentions. Other long-run good news is that the Rapunzel Unbraided DVD (which we porbably won't be discussing for another several years) will have loads of material about the Rapunzel that almost was.
Overall, I hope that Disney rediscovers one of the keys to their previous successes; a key that Pixar seems to display with each of their movies. (the story, in case you don't know what I'm talking about, lol)
anyone see Brothers Grimm? That movie told an interesting, though brief, twist of the Rapunzel story.

has anyone else seen these pictures:
"I found my inspiration for the look of this film in a painting called 'The Swing,'" Keane continued. "It was painted by a French Rocco artist named Jean-Honore Fragonard. Just look at how rich this imagery is. It's like there's butter between the brush strokes."
Glen challenged "Rapunzel" art director Lisa Keane to come up with a look that was at least as rich as the world suggested in Fragonard's painting. And wonder of wonders, Lisa was actually able to pull that off in a CG format.

i'm really hoping that this will turn into a musical. It would be the world's first CG musical, unless i'm wrong. i think it would draw a lot of attention if it took on music. besides almost all of disney's greatest hits were musicals. I've always wondered why disney continues to make straight out comedies when the company knows that music has played a major role in the company's success. Even if it doesn't take a musical route, i still believe this movie will be great. i can't wait for it's release!

I agree with Singerguy, it would be cool to see a princess musical story in 3D!

You know, I really don't understand what all this enthusiasm is about. Oh, yeah. Pretty castle. But , wait a minute, this reminds me of something...ah, yes, ...Barbie Rapunzel! It's like they made Barbie look more like Mr.Incredible's daughter. And that huge head, and the hair that are not goingt to move very easily, IMHO. And the silly squirrel. The only thing that exites me is the inspiration from that classical painting. Everything else is like Barbie in PlayStation. A combination between Shrek's Fiona, Barbie and Mr Incredible's daughter. I can't judge the whole movie yet of course, since I haven't seen it. But I have a bad feeling. I really want it to be good.
Rapunzel...not looking too good

I must agree with you that both Rapunzel and the squirrel look far too cartoonish and Barbie-like. I think they really should have aimed for a more classical look...or maybe a more realistic look? And that squirrel is waaayyy too cutesy! Look at the eyes and the lashes and...ugh! *puke* I also agree with you that the backgrounds and architecture are the only things that look good to me.
Don't worry about Rapunzel's hair, though. It is certainly going to be movable, as I read that the guy who's directing this had great plans for her hair, and even helped teach animators to do Ariel's CGI hair in Disney's PhilharMagic.
You must remember that the look of a film does
not decide whether it will be good or not. But you are right in that it plays a part of the movie's quality, and I don't like the looks of that girl or that squirrel. Especially that squirrel. *puke*

Oh come on everybody! I'm really looking forward to this movie!
I think Rapunzel is gorgeous.
And the squirrel is cute.

The squirrel isn't sickenly cute. She looks just like any cute Disney furry creature. She's like Yzma as a kitten, but I must say she is much cuter than the squirrels in Sleeping Beauty and the Sword in the Stone. It's probably her big head.
Also, Rapunzel looks really young. I know Aurora and Ariel were 16, but they look older than Rapunzel. Maybe its the freckles or the CGI? Anyway, I'm trying not to get my hopes too high only to be disappointed. After watching the trailer for
Meet the Robinsons, my only hope is that Rapunzel retains the charming quality of that kind of CGI animation.
The castle is pretty, too!

Well, I sure do hope this will not be a nonsense comedic animated film just like Chicken Little. I'm looking forward for a musical here, and a serious fairy tale. Although some funny moments wouldn't hurt. But from the word "
Unbraided"...I feel it's a comedy.

That's because Glen Keane designed both of them

So what? Glen animated Pocahontas too. Do you see any resemblance between Ariel and Pocahontas?

Pocahontas was Indian, thus she has no resemblance with Ariel.

Well, Rapunzel doesn't remind me of Ariel. Her movements and her mouth reminds me of Megara. She has Ariel's eyes, though.
