This is kind of off the subject but I wanted to know what you think. I have a theory that Snape loved Lily.
In "Snape's Worst Memory" (Book 5), you read that Lily stands up for Snape while he was being teased. She is probably the only one who stood up for him. Snape was probably teased by James plently of times but this is named his worst memory...why? He called Lily a mudblood and was probably embarrassed about it. Maybe it was just the situation and the anger at the time that caused him to say that. Sometimes, people don't mean what they say when they're angry.
Throughout the series, Snape always talked about James to Harry. He never said anything about Lily. In book 6, we find out that Lily was very talented in potions as well. I think Snape and Lily may have interacted in school. As Harry read the Potions book, he noted that the handwriting looked like a girl's. This could have been Lily's.....or his mother who owned the book before him.
On page 32 (book 5), Aunt Petunia said that she heard an awful boy telling Lily about dementors. We know that dementors joined Voldemort early in the 1st war. So this must have been in the earlier school years. We know that Lily hated James before their 7th year. So....this boy might have been Snape. I can't picture James talking about dementors to Lily anyways....
On page 549 in book 6, Dumbledore said that telling Voldemort the prophesy was the greatest regret of his life. Dumbledore always said that love is powerful. That's why he was so sure that Snape was good and on his side now. After Voldemort went after Lily, Snape turned.
Another thing is....Snape always picks on Neville. Maybe this is because Neville is the other boy in the prophesy.
I don't know how valid this theory is....but it's just what I think.
