Ice Age: The Meltdown
Starring: Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Dennis Leary, Queen Latifah, Sean William Scott, and Drake Bell
Ice Age The Meltdown is the sequel to the 2002 hit Ice Age. In the sequel Manny, Sid, and Diego return. Everything is fine with the weather until they see that the ice is melting and that they all need to leave before it hits them. On their journey Manny wonders is he the only mammoth left, then he meets Elli (who thinks is a possum), Sid is trying to get more respect from people, and Diego is trying to come over his fear of water. And of course Scrat is still after his acorn.
In my opinion Ice Age was very good. It had a good story, good chracters, drama, and humor. Ice Age did have some problems though. I personally felt that it needed more humor and less drama and the best thing about Ice Age was Scrat so we needed more of him.
What Ice Age 2 does is fix things that needed to be done. So in this one there is a lot more entertainment, more humor, more action, more Scrat, and less drama. What this one fails to do is get the things we liked about the first one, So Ice Age 2 had less of a story. So if you put them together there basically just about as good.
The great thing about Ice Age 2 is the humor. While after the opening scene of Scrat the first 15 minutes really don't entertain that much. But after the movie has been on for 15 minutes, it becomes better and funnier. This movie has many jokes. This is the type of movie that any age can like. It offers something for anyone. The animation I think in this onbe got better. While the scenery still looks the same I think they improved more on the characters. Also its great how you get to learn more about the characters. There is more of everyone this time around. I felt that the first one spent too much time on Sid but in this one we get alot of each chracter.
The best thing about this movie is Scrat. He never fails to entertain. In this film he gets more time and his ways trying to get the acrorn are a lot funnier. There was nothing really bad with this movie.
In conclusion, Ice Age 2: The Meltdown offers something for anyone. Also this film is just as good if not better than the original and that is very hard for a movie to do.
I give this movie an
A- it will probably make one of my favorite films this year)

I saw the movie yesterday at 2pm. I went in thinking it was going to be silly and unnecessary, and worse than the original, which I thought was pretty bad anyway. I was, however, pleasantly surprised.
The film opens and from the start, it pleases. Skrat

is the true star of the show, followed closely by Sid (who is not the butt of so many jokes in this movie, which was good IMO) and Crash and (another name that I can't remember), Queen Latifah's character's "brothers." THEY ARE HILARIOUS!
Another thing this movie does better is meld together more subplots. There are many storylines that keep you interested, almost to the point that you wonder why they needed so many.
The action was also more pleasing to me.
All in all, the sequel to the well-recieved FOX CGI movie pleased me far more than the first one did. I seriously recommend it.
It's bound to be better than the other sequel out this weekend: Basic Instinct 2.
PS the best part of the movie is the part with THE MINI-SLOTHS!!!

I saw it about 2 hours ago. It was okay, it wasn't spectacular, but it wasn't horrible. I laughed out loud about 3 times in total. 1: When Ellie played dead 2. When Ellie slept hung upside down on a tree, and 3. The whole ending.
I do have to wonder why they had to splice the film with basically the same Scrat slapstick stuff we've seen over a million times. But, the new Scrat stuff was fun (especially the ending).
The one thing that bothered me was that it was very slow-paced. I guess I'm fond of a very fast pace in films. The whole ending with them trying to save Ellie from the flood seemed to take forever. But, again, the off-the-wall ending really made the movie for me.

I saw it today. It was okay, not as good as the first, which wasn't very good in the first place. I give it a 5/10.
P.S. Scrat and Ellie & Her Possums Brothers stole the show.

Yup, that's true.
I really thought the sequel was pointless...maybe Garfield 2 is really pointless since the first one was a flop
I thougtht that Fox 20th Century would put the Vanilla Ice song in the film since the preview had it.
Other then that I give the movie a C-

Actually, with worldwide theater and DVD sales, Garfield made over 7 times it's budget. I can understand a sequel being made.

Netty, we all know that almost every UD fan thinks Garfield: The Movie was horrible and now a sequel please don't destroy the Garfield franchise.
It's like one of the horror films sequels that just doesn't stop....Saw 10 anyone.

Sadly i don't think even the might of your stop sign will put an end to horror sequels!

I liked the first one, So we had a double feature yesterday. My older son and I watched the first one then went and saw the second. The second one was not as funny as the first. Scrat stole the movie again. I like the ending with him. There was some adult humor in it. My son told me he got scared a few times. Overall 2 thumbs up. And I will get this on DVD

Took my kids to see this yesterday.
I have to admit, I like this one much better than the original! The addition of Queen Latifah's character was perfect. The ending was very unexpected and added a lot to the movie. There were MANY laughs that weren't spoiled by the previews. I was thoroughly impressed and pleasantly pleased. Great stuff.

I didn't tell you I used to believe in Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, and the Easter Bunny - so I don't know what you're talking about. And neither do you.
It wouldn't be the first time

I totally agree that this was probably the first time that the previews didn't give away some of the important parts of a movie. "Ice Age 2" was every bit as good, if not better, than the first one. My three oldest grandkids and I were totally entertained by this film. Scrat was again the center of attention while trying to get his elusive acorn, and what a great addition to the cast was Queen Latifah and Jay Leno. This is a definite addition to the DVD collection.

I think it's because usually all the previews for Ice Age are about Scrat. They don't give away any of the content of the "real" plot of the movie. That's a great technique, and wish more movies were as creative in their marketing.

Finding Nemo and The Incredibles had trailers like this, which were more appropriately called "teasers" since for Finding Nemo the segment they used was unrelated to the main plot (the anglerfish scene), and for The Incredibles the segment used was not even in the final film (i.e., "Maybe just a salad!").
I think the most egregious examples of trailers giving away the whole movie are with comedies, especially when the movie is mediocre enough that all the best jokes are wasted on the trailer.

DVDjunkie, I thought you said you will never buy a sequel.
Are you talking about direct to sequels or just sequels.

I was referring to those wonderful political threads you helped lock or almost lock!
As for me not knowing what I'm talking about, I think that was just an attempt at a "comeback". Saldy, I was umipressed!

I know what you were refering to. And you're not clever or even close to a point. So don't expect a comeback to an off-shot insult. Get some new ammunition.

I really liked the first one and I went to see the sequel yesterday. It was cute, I enjoyed queen latifah voicing ellie. Scrat is by far the best part...I was so happy he wasn't actually dead in the end. of course I knew they'd never really kill him because they need him for the endless sequels you know they are planning lol. It was good, cute but not quite as funny or good as the first one but I still enjoyed it.
