My comment wasn't just directed at you. Several members have been piling on
DisneyEra in this thread for a while now and I needed to remind people that's not OK.
farerb wrote:By the way, it's good that you ask people here to be respectful, I appreciate it, but maybe you could do it all the time? Like when someone makes a demeaning and disrespectful comment towards another user about how much their opinions are invalid. Even if you personally agree with the attacker's opinions and disagree with the one that the hurtful comment was aimed at.
Is there something specific you're referring to? If you're talking about the incident involving
estefan in the Hercules live-action thread, I decided not to interfere because things did not escalate and
estefan himself said he wasn't offended by
Disney Divinity's remarks. If you're referring to something else, I probably just didn't see it. I can't catch every little thing. If you're experiencing an issue with an another user or have noticed someone else being attacked, please don't hesitate to report the offending post or PM me about it.

I do feel sympathy for you, Sotiris, that these attempts to intimidate have turned towards you lately. Thankfully I have the Ignore feature, but moderators don't have that option.

I sincerely pity you that you think that being awful to people is the only way to overcome your insecurities.

No offense, but you're the only one who's attacked people in this thread. First DisneyEra, then Clindor, now me. And many of your comments here and in other threads lately have come across like you're trying to start an argument, but I'm not going to fall for it with you anymore. Thank you for your time.

By the way
Sotiris, I was referring to this:
https://www.dvdizzy.com/forum/viewtopic ... ow#p736562
and I'm doing it publicly cause I don't give a damn anymore. In no forum this would have been a legitimate comment and allowed to remain like that.

I've made a similar comment to estefan in the past. It's not an attack to say I've wondered if he's a bot at times. You act like you're revealing some deep, dark secret of mine when I posted it publically.

But it's funny that this topic where I wasn't speaking to you at all suddenly became about me...? Were the jabs at DisneyEra and Clindor somehow because of me, too? Or your veiled character attack on Sotiris for that matter?

Well, that escalated quickly ~sigh~ Farerb, Disney's Divinity's comment didn't warrant an attack from you. Where did that come from? You overreacted and your comment was out of line. If you two have a history, please don't take it out in public. The ignore function exists for a reason. Disney's Divinity, you don't need to respond if someone attacks you. It derails the thread and creates more drama. Reporting it and letting the mods handle it is the way to go. Also, farerb about that post you were referring to, as I said earlier I decided not to intervene because the argument resolved itself in a civilized way and estefan said he wasn't offended by it. Had he asked to, I would have removed it.
Now, let's get back on topic, please.

^ Yeah, those are points I'd be interested to find out about this project. I assume Raya has already been cast? She spoke in the teaser trailer, I think? And then there's Awkwafina.

^ Cassie Steele is voicing Raya (she was Manny on Degrassi, and she voices Tammy, Tricia, and someone else on Rick + Morty). And wait- teaser trailer?! Did I miss something?!

Oh, wow, thanks for letting me know! I remember the Manny character. I'm very happy for her!

Yeah. Sorry that I've stopped replying. It's just that there weren't more many subjects for me to talk about, so therefore I sort of disappeared. I'm sorry about that.

That's all right, we did discuss pretty much most Disney topics so there wasn't much else to say. Still, it's nice to see you post every so often!

Thanks and likewise. I don't usually post everyday, though, but I post occasionally now and then. I just post my opinions when I feel the urge to do so.

This Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, we're recognizing some of our crew working on Raya and the Last Dragon! "Growing up in Thailand, I loved Disney Animation, especially The Little Mermaid. From a fan to now being a part of making this movie - it's something I couldn't have imagined. With Raya and the Last Dragon, I’m excited for the world to see our fantasy world, characters, story, and especially the film's Southeast Asian inspiration." — Far Jangtrakool, Senior Software Engineer on Raya and the Last Dragon.

"I have been a part of the Walt Disney Animation Studios family for the last 16 years. I grew up in India and have been living here in the US with my family for the past 20 years. I am proud of my heritage and feel lucky to have got the chance to experience and synthesize the best of both worlds, which allows me to bring a unique perspective to the table. It's been a dream come true to work on a Disney film that finds inspiration in the great and diverse cultures of Southeast Asia. To be part of leading the team on Raya and the Last Dragon is an honor indeed, and I feel blessed every day, working alongside so many talented people who inspire me to try and give my absolute best. I celebrate the diversity and strengths of my team, so we can learn from each other and be successful individually and together, as I believe leadership and teamwork are synonymous.” — Avneet Kaur, Simulation Supervisor on Raya and the Last Dragon.

"Working on Raya and the Last Dragon is fulfilling a dream that I had since watching Mulan when I was little. There weren't a lot of animated characters who looked like me at the time, but to see Mulan on the big screen made me proud of my identity as an Asian American. Being able to work on Raya and the Last Dragon as a Story Artist and to offer ideas based on my own personal experiences from my heritage means so much to me, especially when you see those ideas influencing the story and the characters. I feel incredibly fortunate and honored to have this chance to hopefully spark the same joy that I had with Mulan to all the young girls and women around the world today with Raya." — Donna Lee, Story Artist on Raya and the Last Dragon.

"My journey to animation started in the mailroom at a talent agency. While covering for an agent's assistant, I found a Walt Disney Feature Animation card in the back of a drawer and carried it around with me as a reminder of my goal to one day work at Disney Animation. Having worked at our studio for the past 8 years, I feel so fortunate to have been part of Moana, Ralph Breaks the Internet, and now, Raya and the Last Dragon. As the film's Story and Community Outreach Production Supervisor, I had the opportunity to research, collaborate, and connect experts throughout Southeast Asia with Disney's amazing storytellers. I witnessed a synergy that inspired the creation of the world, enriched the story, and laid the foundation for the movie. I am excited for the next generation, including my son and nieces, to meet Raya, a strong and resilient hero, that looks a little like them." — Scott Sakamoto, Production Supervisor, Story and Community Outreach.

I love that they feel more connected to the story they're making! I like how they mentioned the "inspiration from Southeast Asia;" I feel like some people will complain that they're not using a real country in the film, but if the people working on it are okay with it (or did they have to say what they said and they wish a real country was used?)...
I feel like I have to mentally prepare for backlash to Disney films... Do you think there'd be, for this film or hypothetically, more risk of complaint by using a real country or making their own world inspired by a region?
I'm so much looking forward to this film; I'm just worried about controversy!

Shannon Mills was brought in by Berenice Robinson, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ VP of Post Production. Mills, who in the early years of his career had apprenticed with Gary Rydstrom on the film Hercules, is currently working as supervising sound editor on the upcoming Disney Animation feature, Raya and the Last Dragon.

The way I see it, people like to be negative for negativity's sake, so I think there will be some backlash no matter what they do. I think it's important to consider their intentions though, the filmmakers that is, not the Disney corporation.
But I get your feeling. We haven't seen anything from this film and I can already see what kind of reaction it's going to get from people online.
