Caught second screenings of both
Tangled and
TRON Legacy tonight. I grew to love both films even more, although my complaints about the ending for TRON still stand.
Cheers,
JM

I've been watching a lot of movies lately, so I probably won't remember them all...
Ratatouille- Fun as always.
Toy Story 3- I only cried at the end this time.
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl- Fun as always.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time- I wrote my thoughts in the proper thread, but I didn't like it much at all.
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus- I had been interested in seeing this for a long time, but I couldn't even finish watching it...it dragged on and on and on, and maybe it would've gotten better later on, but it was really hard to follow. A disappointment.
Adventureland- This was pretty funny. It was very welcome after having watched the above two movies.
She's Out of My League- Still freaking hilarious.
Scrooged- I kind of missed parts of the middle of it, but it was alright. I would've rather watched
A Christmas Story for the gazillionth time, but it wasn't my house.
Big- I only watched parts of the middle, but I liked what I saw. A bit disturbing that the lady was falling for a kid, though.

I need to watch the whole film- I'm curious as to everything in the beginning and the end!
Remember Me- My second time watching this...really good. The characters are definitely believable.
The Scorpion King- Pure popcorn flick. I liked it better than
Prince of Persia...it was entertaining enough.
(500) Days of Summer- I really, really liked this. I actually could really relate to parts of it, and it taught me a valuable lesson which is applying to my life right now (you don't have to put a label on relationships, you can just enjoy them). Definitely one I want to buy.
Across the Universe- Kind of epic. I had watched some of the song clips on YouTube, and my tattoo artist had recommended this, since we're both Beatles fans. I loved it. Another one I definitely want to buy.
I Love You, Man- I watched this last night. Really, really funny. Paul Rudd is always adorable, and he definitely was in this.

I finished watching The Jungle Book on Youtube a few hours ago. It's been years since I watched it, and I enjoyed it. I'm glad that I decided to watch it again after all these years.

Why on YouTube?? Don't you have the movie in your DVD collection? I don't understand what the fascination with watching YouTube!!!
Anyway, was coming here to post about a couple of movies that I just watched.
Run starring Patrick Dempsey and Kelly Preston. Very good movie about a young man who is taking a repaired car to its owner and gets involved in an illegal gambling bunch. Been a long time since I watched this film, and I think I have watched twice in the last week or so.
Eye For An Eye starring Chuck Norris. One of his better 'chop-socky' movies. Good entertainment for an hour and a half.
Avatar - on Blu-ray, I watched the 3-hour Extended Cut, and was truly surprised how much better it makes the movie understanding what led to Jake Sully being put into his brother's shoes for this mission. James Cameron said in an interview, don't remember where, that he gave away the Oscar for Best Picture when he cut the movie down to its theatrical running length. I would have to agree. This is a much better movie with the added footage.

I didn't see that I posted this, but a couple of days ago I watched The Munsters: Scary Little Christmas, bringing my Christmas movie total for this year to... ...one.
I don't think I've watched ANY other movies this December before that one.
Last night I watched a good early Jackie Chan flick - Shaolin Wooden Men.

Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back- 9.5/10
Easily my favorite Star Wars film. It's complex, emotional, and just plain awesome.
Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi- 7.5/10
My least favorite of the original trilogy, because it just drags on and on and on. The entire sequence in Jabba's palace is very hard for me to watch, especially the alien singing/dancing part. Ugh. Everything else (including the ending) is great though.

Watched
Despicable Me - Blu-ray - in the Gru-Control mode and found it to be hilarious. It gives a whole new slant to the story and just adds more laughs. I love this movie. The voices fit all the characters, and it has a lot of heart.

Well, it's not like DisneyDVD leave the film in-print for anyone to buy at their convenience. Sometimes, this is the only option people have. And the films are every bit as much fun to watch on YouTube even if they're not in DVD quality.
What's the fascination with YouTube??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Um... gee, where to start? How'z about we start with DisneyDVD and how they screw people over again and again and again and again? You can see almost any and every cartoon Disney have put on DVD on YouTube now. Even ones that haven't been (Figaro? "Three Orphan Kittens"?). So much of Disney's TREASURES DVD content is also there. Disney's Man and the Moon. Disney's Kids is Kids (actually- I don't think that's on DVD yet). Donald in Mathmagic Land. The Silly Symphonies. Donald Duck. Goofy. Actual interviews and featurettes from out of print Disney DVD's. Disney's Book on Tapes and audio records. Old TV commercials from the 80's. Dr. Syn / The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh. Mary Blair artwork. The censored Sunflower bits from Fantasia. Disney's Halloween Treat - in HIGH QUALITY. 3 other Disney Halloween specials. Their Christmas special. The uncensored Pecos Bill segments. The cut-from-DVD "Martins and the Coys" segment of Make Mine Music. And DOZENS and DOZENS of things I can't even think of! But anything you can think of Disney related... just might be there.

I just watched a John Woo-directed film with Jackie Chan in a supporting role - Hand of Death. This is an older one from 1976, before Jackie became famous with Drunken Master. This also had Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao (in a bit part), although the star was Dorian Tan Tao-Liang.

Watched
Everly Brother Live at Royal Albert Hall and just sat back and enjoyed real music for a change. Tired of all this stuff that hollers at you to get your attention. Before that I watched
Stephen King's The Mist on Blu-ray. Watched the alternate B&W version because it has a scary rating of +10. Like it much better than the color version.

Gran Torino (2008)
BEAUTIFUL movie! Excellent, excellent, excellent! I was really immersed into this film from the first minute to the last; it didn't lose me for a second. Clint Eastwood did a hell of a job directing and starring in this touching and exciting tale about a disgruntled Korean War veteran who slowly befriends his new Korean neighbours --but with devastating results, when he stands up for them against a local gang. I'm surprised this one didn't pick up any Oscars --let alone not even a nomination. Eastwood was excellent, and so was Ahney Her. Too bad she hasn't been in any film since. She's a beautiful actress.
Reminds me a bit of one of my ex-girlfriends.

Just for the pure enjoyment of Walt Disney we watched The Cat From Outer Space on standard DVD. Great cast, lots of laughs, and just a whole lot of fun for the whole family.

Matrix Reloaded - A worthy, if inferior, addition to the franchise. The story is by far weaker, but stronger performances and a spectacle of action scenes - some still more impressive than anything put out today - make up for the movie's weaknesses. 7/10
Matrix Revolutions - If movie #2 was a somewhat worthy addition, this movie, to be blunt, just stinks. From interesting visuals, a compelling story and idea and a great lead cast, we are pushed to the limits of the mundane with this one and the lead cast are nothing more than decoration here. The action is worse than your average sci-fi flicks, the story is nowhere to be found, and really when you bog it down, besides the opening and the Neo-Smith fight, nothing else really added to the conflict and story. If it were any other movie I'd be more forgiving but sheesh! This was meant to wrap up one of the greatest movies of movie history. 4/10

i wont disagree on how long it seems, but it gets better in the third act. Actually, it takes repeat vieings to understand everything, but it's ultimately a good ending.
Despicable Me-a fun movie. a tad safe with the villain thing, and very predictable, but doesnt grate. heartfelt. solid first effort for Pixar.
Stardust-a fun, lighthearted fairytale with swashbuckling action, adventure and romance. The film falls into a few cliches, but is very fresh in several ways, such as death. Both Claire Daines and Charlie Cox do the leads justice, while Michelle Pfeiffer does a good one as an evil witch, and Robert De Niro has fun being a rather different breed of Pirate. Some distracting Cameos from Mark Williams(more commonly known as Arthur Weasely) and Ricky Gervais. What turned me towards this was the fact that it was directed by Matthew Vaugne, before he did Kick-Ass, and the novel was written by Neil Gaiman(Coraline). a simple, bubbly fantasy.
Shrek 4-solid. good climax, nice take on the characters, and a good capper for the series.
Troll 2-oh god, this horror movies so bad, it's actually funny. it has its moments, but they're quickly eclipsed by the cheese. do not recommend

"Despicable Me" is NOT a Pixar movie. Did you really pay any attention to it while you were watching it. And did you watch it on standard DVD or Blu-ray. If on Blu-ray did you watch it in the "Gru-Mode" or movie mode.
Sorry, but I had to say something.

It was probably just a typo. No need to get all up in his grill.

Yeha, sometimes people write the wrong thing or forget a word. Nothing to get too upset about.

If the person who watched "Despicable Me" thinks it is a Pixar movie, that is not a typo. They either didn't watch the movie, or just plain didn't care who they gave credit to for the production. I am sure Pixar would accept the compliment, but facts are facts - this is not a Pixar film, it is not even from Disney. It is from Universal!!!

Is this your first experimentation with ultra-low budget, direct-to-video, title-switching, Italian-made monster horror movies?
This really is the wrong movie to have become a mainstream cult film (which it now is thanks to YouTube, "Best Worst Movie," and MGM). Because the people who endeavor to see it don't have a clue where it's coming from. Basically, few will ever see the film's brilliance or the true charm of its' badness until you've dabbled as much as I have with Troma or Full Moon pictures. It sounds like I'm making this up, but seriously. Watch these trailers and you'll see there was actually an industry behind Troll 2 (called Filmirage):
Beyond Darkness,
Anthropophagous,
Absurd,
Witchery,
Killing Birds,
Hitcher in the Dark,
The Crawlers,
Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals,
Ghosthouse 5 (just the beginning),
Deep Blood (also a scene),
Frankenstein 2000 (scene - in high quality, no less).

But you don't know the intent! If he were in person and full out stated that it was a Pixar film like many assume Anastasia is a Disney film then I'd agree with you but as I said sometimes people get confused when typing. He could have been meaning that it was a "solid first effort for a new animation company in a world dominated by Pixar". It's terribly easy to forget what you mean and skip over things... It happens to me all the time.
